If your thermostat is dedicated to air conditioning only, it will have a red Rc wire. For heating and cooling systems, it will have a red Rc and a red Rh wire. Though both wires are red, they are not interchangeable. When you tell the app what colors you have and where they are connected in your original thermostat it will tell you where on the new unit to connect it. I hope this helps answer your question. If you only have one R wire should it go into rh or rc?
