Real life has a cruel way of making its presence known to even those who make-believe for a living. Thanks, Dave, and stay safe!
Regarding Sebastian, you might mention his stellar performance as Pip in The Twilight Zone episode. “A Nice Place to Visit”. Somewhat different character than Giles French. A delightful and terrifying performance

I loved Family Afair Because of all the love each gave each other. When the kids came nothing was changed. I really liked Kathy Carver. She was such a beautiful teenager. I had a crush on her💖
I'd love to see you do a thing on My Three Sons. I hate to say this, Dave, but I actually got depressed when I watched Family Affair as a kid and I don't know why. I can only guess that I was saddened in my heart when you see that these kids lost their parents. A lot of emotional episodes in this show, including when Buffy lost Mrs Beasley and they were searching franically to find this doll. Mrs Beasley may not be popular with you and me, but it is explained that it was the last toy that was given to her by her late parents, so she had a hard time sleeping at night having nightmares with out the comfort of Mrs Beasley. Now that even makes me want to cry even now. And don't forget the episode called Christmas Came Early where Eve, as played by Eve Plumb, is a friend of Buffy's who is struck by an illness and is dying. I know this was a show on dealing with death, yet the kids were already dealing with the loss of their parents. Now I realize why these shows depressed me. Please forgive me but Family Affair was one of those shows I'd just would like to forget. I'd love it if you would do a My Three Sons info now that was a show that lifted my spirits. They never talked about Steve's late wife, and it had an almost Disney quality to it. You've done Leave It To Beaver, another show I loved, I'd love it if you did this show. Fred MacMurray was the dad I never had, and I'd watched this show a lot as a kid. Thank you for the info on this one though, had no idea that Kathy had voiced Fire Star. Loved Brian Keith in, as far as I am concerned the only Disney Parent Trap, which had a lot of heart with the fantastic Hayley Mills and another movie I loved him in was with Doris Day in With Six You Get Eggroll. I thought it was a better movie than Your's, Mine And Ours with Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball
When I think of this show the first thing I think of is Mr. Steve French being the name of a mountain lion that Bubbles befriended on Trailer Park Boys. Even if you've never seen that show, you gotta love that these guys referenced Family Affair about 40 years later!
Hey Dave. Haven't watched this video yet but already gave it a thumbs up because I know how you roll. =) We shared our thoughts on Family Affair a few videos back, so I know It'll be good! Hope you're having a great weekend.
Brian Keith played a Bounty Hunter chaseing after Billy the Kid and the Regulators in the movie "Young Guns", I loved Sabastian Cabot in many Disney animated films. He made one of his first contributions in (1963), as both the narrator and Lord Ector. Not long thereafter, he brought life to Bagheera in Jungle Book. (1967). His longest-standing role came through the Winnie the Pooh series, in which he narrated (1966), (1968), (1974), and (1977).
A very moving tribute, as always. In 1972, Cabot played Winston Essex on the NBC series Ghost Story, where he acted as a Rod Serling-like host to introduce each episode. I remember changing the channel to NBC every Friday night at 8 CT following The Partridge Family to watch. Unfortunately not many people made the same decision, so in early '73 the title was changed to Circle of Fear and Essex's introductions were 86ed. I didn't like that. I of course blamed Producers - the bane of most shows' fans, along with axe-happy network executives - and I made other plans as the plots were vapid anyway and only reruns were left to burn off. I liked Cabot as Essex, though, a more dire version of his Satanic character in A Nice Place to Visit (The Twilight Zone, season 1, episode 28).
I don't think Robert Wagner killed Natalie wood. It was a rumor instigated by Lana wood, natalie's sister because Robert Wagner stopped giving Lana any more money.
Yep another childhood favorite Dave, and yep that doll creeped me out also! Mr. French was my favorite, I still remember the episode where he cut the crusts off there sandwiches and they gave him so much grief over it. ah, good times indeed.
I remembering watching it when it first aired. Was always fan of Keith( good Jersey Boy) Disney movies and of course McKenzie Break, and the Russians are Coming.. One of his final performance was guest staring on Star Trek Deep Space 9. Part of his passing was he was in serious pain from cancer. What can I say about Cabot. He was cool character. I remember him in movies and various guest spors on tv like McCloud. Voicing in the sword and the Stonecand Jungle Book. But I remember seeing him in Checkmate. One of earliest shows I watched with my parents. He went too soon
I never watched this show Dave looks and sounds interesting I may have to look into this show and check it out thanks for sharing about it cool great video dave never did see Napoleon and samantha or Tom Sawyer either or sigmond and the sea monsters need to check those out as well Dave 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
In the 1970's version of "Miracle on 34th Street", I recall Sabastian Cabot (as the REAL Santa) using his cane to be pummel the intoxicated phony Santa. Cabot-Santa REALLY didn't like Father Christmas being represented like that!
Its great Kathy didn’t fall in the trap too many young stars did and neither did Johnnie really his troubles came later. Parent Trap is one of my favorite movies I recently got Disney + mainly to watch WandaVision and see how they redid our classic shows. I’m not into marvel but have watched a few. I was more excited to see Parent Trap n other classic Disney on there too and watched a bunch of those. Surprisingly even tho I hadn’t seen Parent Trap in years I still knew a lot of lines and mannerisms before they happened. I did pretty good on your Family Affair quiz the other day too to spite not having watched as much of that show as i have others. 😂 I called it the Buffy and Jody Show too and hated Mrs Beasley she was so creepy.
Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot were both excellent actors with over a hundred acting credits each..........Brian Keith although his suicide was sad, he did live about the average lifespan for a man of that time.
I was definitely a Family Affair fan when I was a kid. One of my friends had a Mrs. Beasley doll. I enjoy Sebastian Cabot as the narrator of the film The Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh And Tigger Too.
What was weird to me was when I married my ex wife back in 1989, her younger sister looked almost dead on like Kathy Garver, lol. I even once told her she looked like Sissy from Family Affair. Now, today as she is older than back then, she looks even more like Kathy Garver. She's not as old as Kathy Garver, in fact she's younger than myself and I'm in my mid 50s. I think she just turned 50 and boy does she looks like Kathy. Besides my ex sister-in-law looking like one of the cast members, I enjoyed watching Family Affair when I was younger watching only the reruns in the mid 1970s.
If you want something truly trippy, Sebastian recorded a talking version of Bob Dylan’s Like a Rolling Stone. Back in the day of course, you had people like William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy “singing” or talking to such classics as “Proud Mary”. Well not to be undone by this, Sebastian did his own thing with Rolling Stone. It’s interesting at least
There are two albums that collected these songs and more together. The “group” of pop/rock singing celebrities is called “The Golden Throats” and their album covers are parodies of first “Sgt. Pepper” and second The Stones’ “...Majesty’s Request”.
I loved Family Affair as a kid and felt the same about that doll Mrs. Beasley, it was creepy looking. I was fortunate to meet Brian Keith on a film set in Vancouver Canada about 1993.
Oh! I don't know who this character was or what episode he'd come from, but I distinctly remember this well-dressed guy screaming at Buffy and Jodie because they accidentally caused him to spill coffee on himself. "YOU LITTLE MONSTERS!" Then he calmed down because Uncle Bill was standing there and looked as if he was going to knock his head off his shoulders.
Memmory timelines fail me here but I may have been 16yrs old in 1976 when Anisa died. The last time she had made a headline was when she had a leg injury from being hit by a small rogue wave on a California beach. She appeared in many episodes on crutches. It is said Anisa was glad when the show ended that she'd not have to carry that doll around anymore. I had heard about her drug addiction way before her passing. I heard she was found dead in her small Florida house she shared with her brother. Some said it had to be a suicide with all the junk she had sunk into herself in one dosing. So when I looked at the article on her in 'PEOPLE' magazine & saw a photo taken of her a week or so before her passing I was stunned that l saw a beautiful young woman with a head of hair to be envious of. She DID NOT look at all like a live under an overpass drug addict. Child Stars - some thrive - some shrivel.
I grew up watching family affair when I was in Elementary School & my mom used to watch also. I remember what my mom used to tell she said when you grow up find a girl that looks like her. She would point to Kathy Garver so 5 Yrs later when I started High School. Cissy was no where to be found evidently Cissy had moved on. I did meet some girls but none of them looked like Cissy.
Broke my heart when I found out Anissa had passed away my grandmother told me when I was 9 I have been an Anissa fans since I was 8 the same age she was when she debut on family affair Her death really hit me hard when I turned 18 myself and it scared me away from experimenting with drugs and alcohol plus seeing alcoholism in my own family may have been a major turn off as well.
RUDE!!! Mrs, Beasley rocked!!! I loved my doll as a little girl! My daughter found me one at an antique shop, lolololol my brother didn't like her much either!
My favorite episode is where Buffy's friend is dying and they have christmas early for her and Buffy doesn't understand why. The last scene is Buffy on her bed crying because she figured out what was happening. As much as I like other family shows I always felt this show had better acting from the kids.
I still say who would marry Mrs. Beasley?! And furthermore, what did Mr. Beasley look like?! I guess we all have a nemesis Mr. Dave, but I must ask - you wouldn't hit a doll with glasses would you?!👓📺🇺🇸
@Todd Fowler & Dave Sundstrom In one of the coolest events of our childhood, my sister - who hated Beasley with a passion - went all George “The Animal” Steele on the doll and tore it apart in front of my mother.
Not really that familiar with the Show Family Affair. I remember Johnny Whitaker mainly from Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. And I associate Sebastian Cabot more with many of the Classic Films he appeared in, like Ivanhoe and the Time Machine. I do remember reading somewhere that he was replaced on the Show by an Actor playing his Brother for awhile, because he became ill during one season.
@@jdsundstrom Yeah, they would draw Angelica/Firestar in her civilian identity the same way MJ was drawn in the comics. THEN than episode came where Mary Jane appeared to go with Peter to the costume party... and she was drawn with brown hair and (to me) looked rather like a young cartoon version of Betty Buckley.
I grew up watching the show. It was fantastic. Unfortunately, kids today don’t get the benefit of wholesome television. And we wonder why the world is a toilet bowl today?
I wonder what happen to Johnny's Co-star on Sigmand and the sea monster.. the other boy. I assume he left hollywood I don't recall ever seeing him again...... the actor who played Charlie....in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate factory with Gene Wilder. he only did that movie then left acting.

I called it the "Buffy and Jodie Show" too! :)
Wow, never new Kathy did VO work!
I loved watching Family Affair as a child❤️.
This was my favourite show ever growing up
Loved this show - I grew up in the 60's / 70's....Loved the show's Intro too...always thought they were Rich because their Doorknob was in the middle of the door
I'll eventually do something on My Three Sons. I was a big fan of that show.
@@jdsundstrom Thank you sir. That would be very special for me. ❤👍👏 So glad to hear you were a big fan.
When I think of this show the first thing I think of is Mr. Steve French being the name of a mountain lion that Bubbles befriended on Trailer Park Boys. Even if you've never seen that show, you gotta love that these guys referenced Family Affair about 40 years later!
Great show!
Mrs Beasley was creepy! I remember the episode when she dropped it off the balcony and thinking I hope we never see it again. Great video. Cheers 👍
They should remake Family Affair as a Horror Film where Mrs. Beesley comes to life as a Murderous Doll. It would probably make a fortune.
@@malhavok-752 Isn't that Annabelle?
I just watched that episode yesterday!
I love that show is funny with that little green monster he was really adorable
Hey Dave. Haven't watched this video yet but already gave it a thumbs up because I know how you roll. =) We shared our thoughts on Family Affair a few videos back, so I know It'll be good! Hope you're having a great weekend.
Angel & The Reruns did a song called
"Buffy, Buffy, Come Back To Me"
about Anissa Jones (after her O.D.).
Thanks Gera!
good sunday afternoon dave. jonny witaker was on a episode of adam 12. unrelated question, what do you think happened to nathalie wood?
I think Natalie died tragically and way too young, Kenneth. Beyond that, I really don't know.
French was the best!
How the heck did I not know Kathy voiced Firestar? I watched those episodes religiously!
Thanks.
You're welcome John!
Great video well done
Glad you enjoyed it, Danny!
Hi Dan. Maybe you can review the Family Affair Comicbook in your next video? They actually made one.
@@lordgreystoke-6390 if I see one I would definitely get it
@@lordgreystoke-6390 Let me guess-It was a Gold Key Comic.
Sebastian Cabot was also the host for the first season or two of Ghost Story/Circle of Fear, a cool show in its own right.
Lots of good stuff out there Cade!
Yes there sure are Dave lots of great stuff I need to check some of this stuff out
Favourite episodes. The first one and the one with Eve Plum. That one was a bit dark.
Thanks for sharing RP! I'm going to have to rewatch Parent Trap on Disney+ tonight. 🙂
Thanks for sharing Pamela!
👁Never Knew Dat Cathy Garver Wuz Da Voice4️⃣🔥⭐️On Da Ol’Saturday Mourning Cartoon🕷Man & His Amazin Friends!
Wow. I didnt know that about Fire Star. Loved that character
"Spider Friends, Go Fot It !"
I remember that particular Spiderman Cartoon had Narration by Stan Lee, and he also did a few other Voices on the Show. Good Times.
Sabastion Cabot was also on a early episode of gunsmoke (he played a very evil character)
Uncle Beo! Remember when the twins had to do patch tests and when Buffy spray painted Mr. French in the face!
I don't remember that one...but I am watching them all again so I'm sure that I will remember it soon. 🙂
@@jdsundstrom Make sure you have a plate of untidy Samuels whilst watching.
Loved this show I have the DVD set
I'll have to check that one out!
There are two albums that collected these songs and more together. The “group” of pop/rock singing celebrities is called “The Golden Throats” and their album covers are parodies of first “Sgt. Pepper” and second The Stones’ “...Majesty’s Request”.
Buffey and Jody were so cute!
Kathy Garver also did a lot of voice work in commercials.
mr.french was my favourite cast member he had the best demeanor ,he also was in hg wells time machine . i think he has the best beard in the world.
I loved Family Affair as a kid and felt the same about that doll Mrs. Beasley, it was creepy looking. I was fortunate to meet Brian Keith on a film set in Vancouver Canada about 1993.
I used to have a Mrs. Beasley doll :)
You should have held onto your sisters doll as the talking version is very collectable today. It was one of the shows I grew up with :-)
Sadly, I think my mother eventually gave it away.
Johnny Whitaker as an adult looks a little like Brian Keith. Excellent casting!
I hadn't thought about that...but you are so right!
Thanks for sharing your memories Joe!
Sebastian Cabot was also in an episode of twilight zone as well. He played a character named pip. Just thought u wud want to know 😎
I heard a rumor that Mrs. Beasley got into a fight with Raggedy Ann. :)
I have no doubt that Mrs. Beasley would emerge victorious from that scuffle!
Broke my heart when I found out Anissa had passed away my grandmother told me when I was 9
I have been an Anissa fans since I was 8 the same age she was when she debut on family affair
Her death really hit me hard when I turned 18 myself and it scared me away from experimenting with drugs and alcohol plus seeing alcoholism in my own family may have been a major turn off as well.
Thank you so much for sharing your memories Thea!
@@jdsundstrom you're welcome and I also remembered we use to call it the buffy and jody show too😊💕
I remember watching the show. That doll had to go. It was creepy. :-O It was a nice family show.
No mrs beasley was part of family....but as buffy got older she could have hung around the bedroom shelf more
RUDE!!! Mrs, Beasley rocked!!! I loved my doll as a little girl! My daughter found me one at an antique shop, lolololol my brother didn't like her much either!
I can't be rude!! I'm just scared!!! Truthfully, Sheila, I am just joking about Mrs. Beasley. Well...mostly joking. 🙂
@@jdsundstrom 🤣🤣🤣♥️
My favorite episode is where Buffy's friend is dying and they have christmas early for her and Buffy doesn't understand why. The last scene is Buffy on her bed crying because she figured out what was happening. As much as I like other family shows I always felt this show had better acting from the kids.
Such a sad...but really good episode!
I still say who would marry Mrs. Beasley?! And furthermore, what did Mr. Beasley look like?! I guess we all have a nemesis Mr. Dave, but I must ask - you wouldn't hit a doll with glasses would you?!👓📺🇺🇸
I'd never hit Mrs. Beasley. I would, however, find a nice hiding spot and hope that my sister would never find her again. 🙂
@@jdsundstrom 😂
Lol 😂😂😂
@@SnarkNSass 👌
@Todd Fowler & Dave Sundstrom
In one of the coolest events of our childhood, my sister - who hated Beasley with a passion - went all George “The Animal” Steele on the doll and tore it apart in front of my mother.
Dave 🙈 ... it’s so sad 😞 why do you pick this one😞😞🙈🙊 it’s too heavy are very heart ❤️😷😞😞😞😞😞
Sorry to bring you down Richie!
I want the Mrs. Beasley doll! I collect creepy dolls. xD
They actually made one. It would probably be hard to find nowadays, though.
They also made a Talking Tina Doll from the Twilight Zone episode.
Those were Creepy Dolls. I don't think anything beats the Zuni Fetish Doll from the movie Trilogy Of Terror, though. That Thing Was Demonic.
I always wished that I had a uncle Bill
I had no idea Kathy Garver was Mary Ja--I mean Firestar!
Ha! You noticed the resemblance as well!
He narrated ghost story around 1972
Sad sad sad 🙈🙊😷🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Yep. 😢
