Something to add to Crisil discussion by Mohnish.
He said moody did well in the long term inspite of the 08 Fin crisis. So rating agencies are great businesses. 100% agree.
But applying the same logic to country like India has backfired. Mohnish invested in a co. called CARE LTD. (Similar to crisil) and it got involved in some shady shit (search ILFS case) due to which stock fell of the cliff.
Conclusion- Moody lobbied the US govt in 08 and got out but capital mkt authorities in India are very cold hearted and strict (named as SEBI and SFIO) due to which stock suffered a lot

Goodwin Plc (LSE:GDWN) (UK stock market) today looks similar to those shipping/oil and gas driven companies Mohnish was reflecting on, does anyone have a take on this company or others similar would be great to hear some thoughts and opinions?

im sure you have to be wired a certain way to invest successfully. maybe even wired incorrectly i think. Though Warren Buffett is definitely The Columbo of investing. He always comes over all normal but we all know hes crazy sharp with investing...

I love this but where does Mohnish get this information on these businesses. I can’t seem to find much info on businesses. How did he know that that real estate of the business was worth more than the market cap. Where do u find this???

Mr. Pabrai, you need to reduce the frequency where you're saying "if you will...", it can get annoying to keep hearing this repeated expression in this video. Great teaching nonetheless, and I learned a lot from it.
