    It's not so much about humor. It's about telling the truth under the cover of a good laugh. It's meant to hurt and make you think.

      There were times when satire was the only way to tell the truth.. and when times get bitter its nice to listen to the truth with enough humor to swallow it. Some things cant be changed no matter how many people want it to be changed. So you learn how to laugh at the ironic misery we all are stuck in.

    German Dude here (: First time I heard Pispers was in 2005 as an adolescent. I remember ending up on the floor laughing non stop.
    He has retired as far as I know. His last shows (around 2016) were even harder to swallow because you could tell he got increasingly bitter knowing that his Kabarett would not change anything substantially.
    He would throw punchlines at the audience saying things Like: "You people love to gather here and laugh at the stupidity of those politicians you have elected" or "Kabarett is like church. You listen to the criticism on your way of living without changing anything".
    He was one of a kind.

      Right now China is just waiting to see how europe will react and how determined we are.
      And then starts their trade war and annex taiwan.
      Instead of either following one or another side we should choose our own way, become independend and strong ourself.
      We should support those who lost everything in those wars.
      Because we will need their help if we wanna stay independend in the future.

    This isn't 'humor' in the 'tell a joke', 'comedy', or 'just for laughs' sense. It's not meant to be funny. The jokes are a means to an end: to help people cope with what is said... sometimes to cope with their own involvement. To overcome the cognitive dissonance walls your brain erects and refuses to tear town.
    It's political cabaret; the modern court jester. Social media- and political party filter bubble bursting invented in the early 19th century. People don't go there for a fun, light evening but rather to be intellectually challenged. It's what free speech is all about: Social and political criticism and telling things as they are.
    Edit: When you say "this kind of humor isn't allowed anymore", you're basically saying "democratic discourse isn't allowed anymore". The first thing fascism takes away is your ability to speak freely: It redefines terms, invents its own truth, tells you what to say and how to say it. Perhaps it's time to investigate how "progressive" things like "identity culture", "cancel culture" and "wokeness" really are. They might, I suggest, be nothing more than bad ideas from the last century dressed in fancy new clothing. And if that is true, democracy is under full scale attack.

    (That show was recorded almost 20 years ago.) I don't think Mr. Pispers was ever really “controversial“ though. At most "inconveniently" to the point ;) But everything he has said in his career has been covered by the right to artistic freedom and by Freedom of Speech - and here in Germany, there is no such thing as "Not allowed!" for that. Plus, he never stooped to a low level in terms of language or content. Even if he sometimes liked to use the artistic stylistic device of slight exaggeration: His statements, quotations and information have always been well researched, accurate and verifiably correct! Along with Georg Schramm, who has brought extremely revealing character studies to the stage through his authentic and subtly uncompromising stage personas, Mr. Pispers as well has always been one of the smartest and sharpest-tongued artists in this genre. Two highly talented and sharp gentlemen who have held up a mirror to us for many years. - Sometimes you have to listen (more) carefully though to really understand what is being said/ meant (see the gas station comparison here... ;D )

    Volker Pispers WAS one of our very very very best "Kabarettisten" (Kabarett = "political cabaret" = political satire made by "comedians"), which has a long tradition in Germany, at least one hundred years after WW I. Kabarett means political satire about the currently political situation in Germany and other countries. During the Nazi Regime (1933 - 1945) Kabarett was forbidden because the German fascists did not want any opposition or critics. After WW II "Kabarett" rose again for instance in Munich ("Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft", a group of famous and great actors and actresses created by Sammy Drechsel) or in devided Berlin ("Berliner Stachelschweine", a famous West-Berlin group).
    -Volker Pispers was born January 18th 1958 in Northrhine-Westfalia, later he studied to become a teacher. At the beginning of the 1980s he began acting with several ensembles. In 1986 he quit his job as a teacher to start a new carrer: "Kabarettist". He published on stage in front of audience several self-made political satires (Programme) and had also the same subjects: weakening of the German retirement payment system and the consequences on society, poverty in society, the poltical scene in Bonn (before reunion capital of West-Germany and the seat of German government) and later Berlin (the "new" capital of reunited Germany and the "new" seat of German government), which means critics of the German ruling parties (I should better say: of nearly all poltical parties represented in German BUNDESTAG: SPD, CDU/CSU, FDP, Grüne and AfD), critics of printing media, its concentration and its influences and brainwash on the German society (for instance "Axel Springer Group" [they bought the poltical American magazine "POLTICO" some time ago and stumbled over a sex scandal in Germany which had effects and reactions also in the US], "Funke Medien", "Burda", etc.), NATO and wars of the US, the global finance system concentrated on Wall Street and its influence on politicians and politics all over the world, IWF (Der "Internationale Währungsfond") aka IMF (International Monetary Fund) and EZB ("Europäische ZentralBank" = "European CentralBank"), critics of Capitalism and the US, warnings about the poltical and social breakdown of our societies all over the world because our kind of captialism is NOT the right answer for all people in the entire world to have a good life, exploitation of poor people in Germany and all over the world, too-low-wages and the question: How can somebody survive with such-a-ridiculuos-wage, etc.
    On December 8th 2015 Volker Pispers declared the end of his carrer in his last programme "...bis neulich" ("...see you later") and said that he surrendered (gave up) because NOTHING had changed in our republic, which means he considered his work useless. I was at that time in one of his appearences on stage (LIVE he was georgeous, marvelous & terrific like a pop star!!!). I am very sad that such a great man declared the end of his carrer, we need "society-mirrors" like him, not only in Germany, also the US need men like Pispers.

    Germany was preparing for WW1 and the German emperor was willing to go to war. But many Germans did not like the idea and they started protesting and even managed to have the biggest peace demonstrations ever seen up to these days. So there was a conflict between the people and the emperor and if he would have just invaded people would have probably rebelled. So it's not like Germany did like nothing, their massive militarization was conceived as a thread. But also it's true that Germany did not start the actual war. But after Germany lost the winners propagated that Germany was to blame. Many people still believe in that propaganda even though historians globally came to the conclusion that it was more complex and just blaming Germany is dishonest.

      That may be exactly the nonsense we get provided with on every corner today, but it´s still preposterous nonsense. Winston Churchill stated in Sept of 1913 that the war against Germany was "done deal", and there are numerous records of diplomatic correspondency between British, French and Russian diplomats that date back to not later than 1903 and verify the orchestrated build-up of what should become the Entente later, as well as direct preparations and plans for a war against Germany from between 1905 and 1908 on.
      Talking about the armament of Germany, France, GB and Russia beforehand WW1, Germany was the LAST of all those countries to put real effort into its military build-up, and when it did in reaction to the developments in those countries, it took a way smaller part of their gross domestic product by the hand than France or GB had put up. The German Military Navy , for example, was still outnumbered 1:6 alone by the British Royal Navy in 1913. Not in the same proportion, but generally the same goes for troops, tanks, vehicles and planes. In no way Germany was preparing for attacking its neighbours...that wasn´t even part of their interest as, since the 1870s, they had economically overpowered GB and France and were the dominant economic force on the European continent.
      Germany tried literally everything to prevent Austria from declaring war down to the wire and Wilhelm II. was the direct opposite of a warmonger, but he would never question staying loyal to the defensive alliance Germany had formed with Austria.
      May I recommend some further research to you...have a look at a video named "1. Weltkrieg - Kein Krieg von Schlafwandlern" - just activate subtitles and it´s pretty convenient to consume. Everything that is mentioned there was taken from verifyed international sources that are also given to cross-check the provided information.

    • @dexchaos9222
      @dexchaos9222 2 года назад

      @@zZzMaCezZz Partially privatized. That means they get the best of both worlds. The country pays them with taxes, but they can give that money to private "investors" and let the trains rott while there is no personal to drive them. This means basically like a private business, but the the tax payer has to carry the whole risk and if thing become inbarebly bad there still is absolutely no consequences and nothing gets fixed, instead they use tax money to make extra cheap tickets so they get even more overcrowded. This makes sure you never have to wonder if there might be a free seat, you just need to wonder if you can force yourself into the train or if people will punsh you out while trying. It's really the worst. I think everyone who has anything to do with this should be put into cages for the rests of their lifes. Pure corruption of the highest level. And no consequences whats oever. If anybody asks me what radicalized me, it was the Deutsche Bahn!

      I didn't know about the peace demonstrations, but did know Europe at the time was flammable and at some point it would ignite, it just needed a spark from somewhere and all the alliances meant everyone would end up involved when it finally did. I don't think most people now would blame Germany for starting WWI.

    Cabarett is more talking about serious or sensitive topics in a slightly funny or ironic/sarcastic way.
    It is pretty interesting to hear pieces of history together in clear order;
    especially showing that there is no black and white side in politics but mostly cynicism and hypocrisy
    There are only a few people here in Germany doing that kind of performance.
    Being a comedian is hard enough, but being funny in an intellectual or serious way is more difficult, I guess.

      Actually, nobody expected war to break out in 1914. The German Kaiser and the formerly Prussian generals wanted to have a war and sent a suggestion to Austria how to provoke Serbia into a war over the assassination. The expectation was that it would be a little war between Austria and Serbia, with the hopes that it would escalate into a big war with Russia. But Serbia did everything to avoid a war. Austria started the war anyway because they didn't want to disappoint Germany.
      The little war escalated a lot quicker and a lot more than expected. Within the month the whole world was involved.
      It was sudden and unexpected and nobody was really prepared for it.
