I always liked Ewan, but after a I saw his documentaries riding bikes around the world (long way down/up/round) I got another perspective from him, just a normal dude, very down to earth, in every each stop along the rides he never uses his fame, always introduce himself as if the person doesn't have the obligation of knowing him. Such a nice guy.

Heck when my kids where younger I used to tell them to blow on the red light to turn it green (making sure to get my cue from opposite direction lights) they thought they were magicians!

People can criticize George Lucas all they want, but that man casted the Star Wars prequels perfectly. He's the person we should be thanking for Ewan playing Obiwan.
Was very humble of him, to do that little thing even after Jimmy congratulated him on the Emmy, he re directed it back to them in a polite manner! Total class.
When my son was 9, he had his first anaphylactic reaction to peanuts. We had to use and EpiPen on him and call an ambulance. During the ride to the hospital, he's on the gurney facing the windows on the back door and surreptitiously waving his hands side to side. I asked him, "What are you doing?" He said, "Using the force to move all the cars out of the way so we can get to the hospital faster." 😆 Well, the cars were moving to the side of the road, so it must have worked!

I love that Ewan is back for this show and I cannot wait to see it. Its no secret that he is well aware of how the prequels were originally recieved, and he's been clear about how much that has bothered him over the years. He could have just as easily said no, and I'd think that fans or whoever could'nt blame him one single bit for not coming back. He could love the character to death but the fear of anger would just make it too hard. But instead, he saw the love that the prequels now get from the generation who grew up on them, giving him the passion to return to the role. And given the fact that he does the SAME thing that most Star Wars fans have done at least once in their life (using the force to open an automatic door) he will forever be Obi-Wan now. Even more so than Alec Guinness, as great as he was in the role. Bless you, Ewan, for being humble enough to return and make so many of us fans giddy with excitement. I can't wait for Friday.
As an older fan from the first movies, Obi Wan and Qui Gon were both shining points of the prequels, whatever anyone said about them whoever criticized those two? I think he was always loved. That Maul battle? This was our first time seeing Jedi fight at their prime, it was amazing. 😊

My grandmother knew and worked with a teenage Ewan and his mum Carol when she worked at Kingspark School in Dundee, which is a school for disabled children. My gran used to be one of the escorts on the buses that would pick the children up for school. IIRC Ewan was doing work experience while at school alongside his mum. Obviously, being my gran and of a totally different generation, Star Wars and worldwide fame didn't have the same impact on her as it might on me, so when I mentioned Ewan McGregor in conversation once she said "Oh, Ewan? He was a braw laddie, awfy quiet but he was nice, so was Carol though" Which roughly translated for Americans, means "Oh, Ewan? He was a brilliant kid, extremely quiet".
The funny thing with automatic doors, is that extending your arm in front makes it open ahead of time, making it less likely to face a door too slow...Fast walkers understand the struggle.

Ewan McGregor is so awesome!! Episode 4 was in 1977, I was born in 1988, and in 1999, we saw Ewan play Obi-Wan for the first time. It is now twenty three years later, and not only was Ewan McGregor amazing in that performance, "singlehandedly rescuing the [entire prequel trilogy] while carrying [George Lucas] unconscious on [his] back," he is absolutely the gold standard of how to respectfully iterate on an iconic and legendary performance. There is video of Ewan McGregor from the Prequel Trilogy just walking around with pictures of Alec Guinness and watching his scenes while he's in the makeup-chair and trying to really emphasize that "triangle" thing down, and trying to mimic that voice... he was SO authentic about it and SO humble about it, and you can't help but respect that integrity. He understood the assignment, on day one, no questions asked. Even people who HATED the Prequels still thought Ewan McGregor was the best part of them, despite the fact that he literally spent most of the filming process in a blue room talking to a blue ball on a stick. This isn't an insult, because it's very understandable and it's not a flaw of Hayden's posture, Jake's height, Matt's pronunciation, David's body language, and James' voice, but just by comparison.... nobody who played Anakin Skywalker was EVER going to be able to do that. It has been LESS THAN A WEEK since we finally got a clear understanding of how Anakin's VOICE and Darth Vader's VOICE have ANYTHING to do with each other at all. What kind of technology could POSSIBLY make a guy's voice go from Stoned Pete Wentz all the way to Malcolm X? (Imagine Hayden sitting in the chair, "If I scrunch my face up, I can kinda mimic those lines between Vader's eye...things, and maybe if I frown a lot, I can get my nasolabial folds to mimic Vader's ...vent / speaker?")
