- This film was shown not only in theaters but in other promotional venues by Ford. It was made to not only promote the addition of a second V8 but also to describe all of the latest features on the 1937 Ford. The original catalog description provided by the Ford Motor Company reads as follows:
The Double Feature Program for 1937. A Film Story of the 1937 Ford V-8's, Which Speak for Themselves.
A couple debating buying a new 1937 Ford car - animated character pops out of the sales literature and begins telling the husband about why to buy the car - husband goes for a ride and soon is joined by the wife in a second car.
Clever marketing film with a Disney-like cartoon character! This was the first model year (1937) for all-steel construction ...without a wood and fabric roof insert on the closed body models. Also new were integrated headlights, "alligator" opening hood, and the additional underpowered small V-8 with 60 Horsepower (because Henry hated a 6-cylinder). Styling of this Ford was far sleeker than both the Chevrolet and Plymouth with their "potato era" design (rounded "like a potato" contours that were common to multiple manufacturers during 1937 and 1938). However, Henry thought that the 1937 Ford was too long and had overall length reduced by 5-6 inches from the original proposal. Despite Edsel's pleas, hydraulic brakes would have to wait two more model years. For 1937, Chevrolet was still the most popular new car and Plymouth broke its own sales record.
Edsel was right,-the sedan looks too "Dumpy"-I own a "36-Ford,-5 window,Coupe'"-I think they nailed it,-with the 36-
Great additional talking points! Thanks for commenting and for watching!
Great commercial for the time period. Thank you for sharing Ken !
💯👊👏
You bet! Thanks for watching!
This was the beginning of everyone having to have their own car! Great posting, thanks!
My pleasure!
I think the 2nd car trend would take about 25 years to get off the ground, from the time of that film.
😅 I find this commercial extremely interesting. My late father actually owned a 1937 Ford slantback. Two-door coupe. With a flathead V8. When does so did she sold it to the guy who was going to make a race car out of it. Likely a circle track car
Great story! Thanks for watching!
In 1937 my mother was wondering if she could afford something to eat :-)
As did many people. Thanks for watching!
The start of the 2 car family. Clever marketing.
Very clever!
Wife screaming " run you for pink slips,"

'The safety of steel from pedal to wheel.'
Ford refused to use hydraulic brakes until 1939.
Thanks for watching!
I was wondering about that too, I've been very curious about when the first thing started to happen with cars, such as the automatic transmission, I believe it was 1948 with Oldsmobile, power steering, air conditioning, it's hard to find all this information
@@TheNextGoogification Depends on whether one means a _practical_ automatic transmission (one which worked well and consistently), in which case you're about right.
Tempos bons ❤
Thanks for watching!
A Scotsman in the engine was real innovation.
Thanks for watching!
A very modern automobile.
Very modern for its time. Thanks for watching!
a 1.2 liter mitsibishi 3cylinder engine puts out 79 hp....verses the flathead V-8 at 81 hp....totque is another story...
Torque IS another story! Thanks for watching!

And thus started the modern economy of pure debt !!! Being that you can barely afford one car so you might as well won't be able to afford both cars. At least someone in about a year will be able to buy them on the repo line at a auction for less than you still owe. Oh the wonderful life of debt and bankruptcy !!!!
I get it! Oh to be debt free! Thanks for watching!
1937 AI.
Could be!
Reminds us of the rubbish that modern cars have become - cellphones on wheels made of inferior materials that certainly are not going to survive as long as this Ford...
Unfortunate but true. Thanks for watching!
