I actually started studying renewable energy at university and there are other types of solar cookers. Maybe this can be a series where you try other cooker types that utilize renewable energy... in this case solar energy! :)
@@Crescendobro I'm pretty sure she melted some stuff in the sun before, on an episode where she didn't have any source of heat. I'd love to see a full episode!
@@dojacar2289 You're confusing Alexis with Alix, a different Tasty producer. It seems Chef Out of Water is uploaded during only one half of the year, unlike other shows like Make It Fancy or Making it Big. Recently, Tasty uploaded season 3's marathon video which is a good sign a season 4 is coming soon if we're going by their past scheduling!
I live in Arizona and we've actually tried a variation of this experiment with homemade solar cookers. (Tin foil in a box ,etc) When it's 115° to 120° during the day, yes it's very possible to use the Sun to help cook stuff.
I made a solar oven for a science fair in middle school. I believe I had to paint the tinfoil with black ink. It worked incredibly well even on cool days. :)
This is the funniest thing I've ever seen I don't think they're going to know that they're going to be a billion dollar company if the apocalypse comes
my favorite campfire sweet is oranges hollowed out and you fill them with blueberry muffin batter, then wrap with tin foil and put into the fire for about 15-20 minutes and they turn out sooooo good i highly recommend trying this.
a dessert that me and my family always make are these things we call dough boys where you take a pack of crescent rolls from the store and put it in the fire and cover it with cinnamon sugar and butter, they are delicious and I 100% recommend
Here in Australia it gets so hot that we got a flat rock, a blazing sun, and a pack of sausages. Just slap a few sausages on the rock, wait a few minutes and there ya go. Fresh stone-cooked sausages. Note: (you probably want to cut them open before eating to make sure that they are cooked all the way through)
Love these videos keep em up! Should have had alexis try to make three course meal with this thing. Also where is chef out of water season 3 and what happened to make it big.
A camping dessert I love is bonfire bananas. You peel and cut a banana in half vertically and put chocolate in-between the halves (you can also put peanut butter or marshmallows or really anything else you like in too). Then you wrap the whole thing in tin foil and bake it in your campfire until the banana is all toasty and syrupy and the chocolate is melted and it’s so delicious
Price is a bet steep and I guess if you're were too camp somewhere that you're not allowed to have a camp fire then this product might make sense I guess for one person. It's just not practical if it takes almost an hour to boil water, another forty minutes to cook on omelet per person. When you can make coffee, bacon, eggs and pan cakes in ten minutes to feed four people. If you were use a coffee pot and two frying pans(which would cost less to buy) of a camp fire.
The cocoa was so hot you had to let it cool down? That means you don't need to leave it in the sun that long, LOL! Pssst, you could have used the sylicone molds for the eggs 😉 We kayak camp in fire country where campfires aren't always allowed. We have two of these and they are small enough to pack in the kayaks.
Well done trial. BTW with the eggs depending on the size you might try putting uncooked eggs in the tube with a slight puncture so they don't explode and use it to make a hard boiled egg. Which is what I would consider a better use with respect to eggs. That said believe I will stick to bush craft for shelter, cooking and other such needs.
I think it was great and you should try again and rotate the things you are cooking and mix them midway bc of how the heat is transferred...Pretty cool though!!!
Growing up in LA, my dad said it would sometimes get so hot that he was able to cook an egg on a sewer cover... so yeah the sun is pretty damn powerful
they should've tested more appropriate meals to better sell/promote this product. Like yea it's can make omelet and brownies but realistically people aren't packing those in their supplies when going camping.
Practice with it and you'll get better. You'll get the feel for how much sun, how to adjust the cooker for max sunlight and how long to leave different foods in.
If anyobe us interested: There are bigger solar cookers for real cooking. The YT channel "Off grid with Doug and Stacey" features them. Homestead homies ftw.
I actually started studying renewable energy at university and there are other types of solar cookers. Maybe this can be a series where you try other cooker types that utilize renewable energy... in this case solar energy! :)
yesss omg would be nice to see this
I need that series, in case in Puerto Rico we have another hurricane and the power source doesn't work for almost a year lol
I would’ve used the moulds for the omelettes and switched the moulds round half way through for even cooking.
OMG AGREED!
I was also thinking that!!
Pretty sure as soon as you open it you let the heat out
@ For most foods I agree not maintaining heat is problematic. For eggs, however, I think this would be negligible.
@@CBEEBLE very true it would just be added time.
Seems like everything should be cooked in silicon to save on clean up. Pretty cool though.
Silicon doesn't absorb and keep heat as well as metal. That's why professionals don't use silicone baking tins
I was thinking the same! And you could even swap places of the molds halfway through
@@ellebee3857 Yeah. Like rotating something in an oven to cook more evenly maybe.
We need Alexis to do "Can This Chef Cook 3-Course Meal With The Sun" :3
She has actually already done it!

it's boiling, it physically cannot be hotter.
lol I’m just imagining there’s some thingy at the bottom of the cooker that makes the water bubble
😮Oooooo🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Not true, look up superheated water.

Why is she talking about the apocalypse so casually? What do you Americans know that the rest of us don't?!
Where have you been living??? Im in Europe and it's been like going through an apocalyptic period for the last year.
Cut up green apples with brown sugar and butter wrap it all up tightly in tin foil and put the in the glowing coals until the apple are soft. Amazing
I love how she was like were done we cooked with the sun she has a carer of rapping
Katie looks cute on short hair 😍
To fix that you could’ve just took it out mid way through cooking/ baking and flipped it around until the whole thing is the same temperature
