I am amazed at how many people can't grasp the concept of "billboard chart topping" and keep complaining about songs like stairway to heaven and bohemian rhapsody that never topped the charts

I don't see why people hate rock now. I listen to any kind of rock whether it was made in the 1960s or today. I am always going to love listening to American Pie from 1970 and then following it with Shake Me Down from CTE made in 2011. Doesn't matter when, it only matters on the sound. I love anything rock and that won't change.

+V4ampp Because "Pop" isn't a genre on its own. It's just an abbreviation of "popular". Although I have my second thoughts on Hey Jude being on number one, it's more of a rock/soft rock song than any other genre.

+Max Maltha I would actually argue that Pop has become it's own genre in the 70s with ABBA and later on Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush and others, but Hey Jude definitely qualifies as a Rock ballad.
