Thanks for another quality guide, my dude. As soon as this came out, I went into the lab and figured out to apply this tech with my team (was a little weird figuring out how to combo off of an assist punish with Wald's assists though)
I faced a guy doing this yesterday and couldn't get around it! Thanks for your explanation, I understand how he's doing it now. It's downright annoying and I was finding it cheap that I seem to always get hit into a full combo after I burst counter.
Been trying this over a month, but have never managed to punish a burst w/assist. Guess I can't get the timing. Thanks for the vid. Been trying 2B & DP w/some characters, but can't react except in training. Tried some more, and get get assist to hit once every 15 attempts or so. Wow, the timing is incredibly tough.
Another way to counter Burst (for some characters) is to time your 2B during combos. You won't get affected by Burst while doing this since it (well, most) has overhead invul.
of course not. You can DP on reaction, jump and block or avoid the burst (off a jump cancelable normal), Anti-air, Super on reaction, or assist counter like right here
This is absolutely true but you have to do it preemptively most of the time. And you have to be in the part of your combo that can be jump canceled. Calling an assist can be done at any time as long as you have the meter for it
There really is no counter to this without proper knowledge to burst safely. This might even counter a Burst that's done while in an air juggle, but might not lead to follow-up due to recovery time from the air. Like you said, the only time to do this is when an opponent has used a combo assist and the Tag partner is still on the field, or if your opponent has no assist meter. Mastering this counter-burst makes solo combos a lot stronger and a lot safer. I feel that's fine, because being too reliant on burst is not a good thing.
DP right? I counter burst, you assist call, that should give me enough time to see the assist call, hit your lead character, then immediately DP and hit the assist. Might leave me open though for your lead character's wake up so not a perfect answer. Maybe the right super/DHC? Looks like there's enough time to at least block, but it does seem like a good counterplay option. Seems like all that will win is i-frames, so Resonance Blaze might be an option too.
Quintus Havis when you burst your character is completely vulnerable. You can’t block or push any buttons. You’re just gonna get hit lol. That’s why it’s so strong
How do you make the dummy do the actions repeatedly on their own? It seems i have to manually press to execute the recorded action. I have one action recorded and set to random but it just doesnt execute it on it's own
Unfortunately you can't. The best thing you can do is make a longer recording that repeats. I just pressed the replay button every time I started a combo
Awesome stuff, as always. Hey I’m having trouble with anti-airing Ruby and other characters who have far-reaching air normals. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
If you have a character who can DP into the air use that instead of crouch heavys. If you DP from the ground you get through air guards and if they are attacking then you have invincibility frames.
Bursts refer to "Cross Bursts". At the cost of your assist bar, you can tag out your character when you are taking damage or in block stun. It's done by pressing D+P when you are taking damage and have a full assist bar
There is no risk at all. It's all timing. A distortion is a read. Calling assists is just reactions. It's more consistent, practical, and can net more damage and set up

This is amazing now I can actually get my full combo on people, burst is so annoying everytime it really needs a better limit on it

pugdragon then dont burst
pugdragon Don't burst early. Do it after the opponent uses his assist as a combo extension.
pugdragon it definitely teaches you not to burst early.

Manny Cardec No, since I could still do it.
it just requires a ton of practice.
Wait
Are you saying I DON'T have to just deal with a burst???
of course not. You can DP on reaction, jump and block or avoid the burst (off a jump cancelable normal), Anti-air, Super on reaction, or assist counter like right here
Yeah, all the options except assist have been easier for me so far.
Can you do a step by step tutorial to record and do all that I'm lost lol
I'm still lost
Thank you. Burst is really annoying.
One thing I heard is you can jump cancel in the middle of your combo block the burst then punish them
This is absolutely true but you have to do it preemptively most of the time. And you have to be in the part of your combo that can be jump canceled. Calling an assist can be done at any time as long as you have the meter for it
This tech is so good omg

Are you going to make more content?

ohhh gotcha i'll work around it then thanks. I thought it was just auto playing somehow.
I love your vids

How you make the dummy counter?
Your guides are amazing can you do one for Ruby Rose? It would really help me out!also subbed! +Knewaccount Gaming
Dumb question, I'm sure but what do you mean exactly when you say "bursts"? I thought distortions originally.
Bursts refer to "Cross Bursts". At the cost of your assist bar, you can tag out your character when you are taking damage or in block stun. It's done by pressing D+P when you are taking damage and have a full assist bar
i need to practice this.
Keep this tech coming plzzzz
To risky, I'm better off using a distortion before he uses burst for reads
There is no risk at all. It's all timing. A distortion is a read. Calling assists is just reactions. It's more consistent, practical, and can net more damage and set up
I hope after evo this gets patched. This is really stupid lol
You can counter with Anti air attack and DP when their burst too.but the timing is harder and Counter DP like Chie wont counter burst.
Those are more of a read. While this one is a straight up reaction
