Kicking off our list was the inevitable reunion of Simon, Paula, and Randy. While it was anticipated that the three original judges would make an appearance at the finale, Paula and Randy were the only two that came out on stage and right when they were about to talk about how Simon couldn’t make it, the man himself walked out on stage and surprised everyone. Simon even called Paula, Randy, and Ryan his best friends during his touching speech and it was the most amazing moment any Idol fan could ask for. Well, almost.
I mean, what would an American Idol finale be without its biggest, most successful Idol returning to perform a medley of her hits on the show that kicked off her musical career? Sadly, Kelly’s performance was pre-taped due to her pregnancy, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t great, because it was.
It all pretty much came back full circle with that performance, don’tcha think so? As incredible as it was seeing the original judges get back together and Kelly’s fantastic medley of all of her hits, it was even better watching Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia Barrino, and LaToya London aka the show’s biggest divas get together for an incredible rendition of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water.’
Ugh, that performance gave me all of the feels. As amazing as it would’ve been to have the last show just feature solo performances from the best Idol contestants of the past, it would’ve obviously taken away from Trent and La’Porsha’s night, sooo the show gave us the next best thing: super long medleys featuring a lot of the past contestants and that within itself was amazing.
With that being said, the next best moment that made it onto this list was the entire acoustic medley that featured Katharine McPhee, Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Jessica Sanchez, and a few others. But, since we can’t show you the entire performance, here’s Jessica ending the powerful medley by slaying ‘The Prayer.’
She killed it. Another best moment from the bittersweet night was Kimberly Locke’s return to Idol. Not to mention her little duet with Jordin Sparks in the middle of the pop medley was also pretty great.
And of course, the show couldn’t end without a few performances from the people who managed to make their way into our hearts by just auditioning for the show. Yeah, you know what I’m getting at. William Hung got a taste of what it was like to make it past the beginning audition round and finally perform for a huge crowd on Idol.
But he wasn’t the only one. Larry Platt also made a quick appearance with his original hit, ‘Pants On the Ground’ during the Pop Medley performance and it was just the best thing ever. Take a look.
So much has happened on American Idol in the past 14 years and somehow the producers managed to fit almost everything that made the show what it was in just a two hour slot. Right before the show ended and Ryan was signing off from American Idol for what was supposed to be the last time, he was heard saying ‘that’s it’ and took a huge pause and added ‘for now.’ Excuse me, Ryan, but ‘for now?’ Sooo, does that mean there’s a possibility that American Idol may be coming back in the future? That sign-off obviously leaves it open for any and all possibilities for an Idol reboot…I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see.

Jessica Sanchez is love..steal the show!!! Lets support her!! That voice needs the right place and that is for us to hear on the radios and put on top of the charts..i heard that jessica will be releasing her nxt album soon..

I wish Carrie Underwood's performances would have been included in this video. When people think of American Idol, she's one of the first contestants that comes to mind. I will be forever grateful to American Idol for bringing her amazing talent to light. As for the results, I was pulling for La'Porsha all season and was a little sad when she didnt win. But I also think that Trent was just as talented as she was, which is why I wasn't necessarily upset that he won. He knew exactly how to give me goosebumps, even if his voice wasnt as "huge" as La'Porsha's. And that's the mark of a true artist. How amazingly can you use the instrument that you have? Somebody's always going to have a bigger more soulful voice than you, but what makes you stand out? Besides, they both ended up getting a record deal anyway! This was really the first time that I had absolutely no idea who was going to win because it was such a tight race. Congrats Trent and La'Porsha ❤ Couldn't have asked for a better ending to such an incredible era in not only television, but music as well. For 15 years, we've gotten to call the shots. Gotten to decide who the next best thing in music was. We literally created superstars just by picking up our phones and voting every week. If it wasn't for American Idol, the Voice wouldn't exist. That's why I've always remained loyal to Idol, even if their ratings did drop a little bit. I can only hope that Idol will be reincarnated someday; revamped and better than ever.
The entire finale was amazing especially when The President opened The Finale but if you're going out on a high note this is how you do it

Trent deserved it. From the first episode, he's always stuck out to me. Mostly because he was so weird with his mono and appearance XD but I think that why he's so amazing. People don't expect that amount of talent. His voice is very unique, and freakishly trained. He said he never even sang live before this. He won. Btw, Why are La'Porsh fans so rude? My god. Just be glad that BOTH are them got record deals, basically get a one in a lifetime chance at their dreams.
Actually La'Porsh deserved to win, there is nothing rude about saying that. It's a fact, but you know on American idol somehow the best singer never win. It's actually quite tragic :)

I wanted La Porsha to win I spent a lot of time voting and she didn't win but I think she will still make it because she sang so beautifully but it was so good to see all the idols come back and sing .

AI really had an epic finale close out show! Yes Trent won.....his rendition of Chandelier was amazing!! But I have to admit I thought LaPorsha was gonna win too but have no fear she got a recording contract too!! She was signed to Big Machine/Universal/Motown collaboration!! The president of Motown is the overseer of her album!! They both are amazing artists and I am glad they both are gonna have incredible careers!!
yes! I was really rooting for trent but I wouldn't have minded if la'porsha won either they were both amazing! I guess I liked trent more because he had that oldies vibe to him and I love the oldies! and la'porsha was good but I feel like I've heard her voice to many times but at the end of it all they both were amazing and my top 2 favs of the season

I love Clevver so much! I watch it everyday; it's my life! But this makes me extremely angry. Carrie Underwood's net worth is $70 million whereas Kelly Clarkson's is only $28 million. That isn't even half! Carrie Underwood is the most successful American Idol and it isn't fair for you to leave her out just because she's country! I almost forgive you because even Idol doesn't treat her like it either! You probably left her out because most of your viewers listen to pop and not country or maybe it was just an accident and I'm making something out of nothing. You still shouldn't have given away her title. I still love Clevver and will still watch it, but Carrie Underwood deserves recognition too.

It's not the finale they lied if u watch the whole thing right at the very end the host said "this is the end (short pause) for now ..." This means it's not over I think American idol said it was the last season to get more viewers since right now the voice is the most watched singing compition right now so American idol tried to get rating back up by saying it was the last season. But that's just a what I think

The producers of AI should just hit the reset button! And NOT let artists like Nicki Minaj be a judge on this show! They should also get rid of any age limits on these contestants if they do a reboot series! Susan Boyle took the world by storm on BGT in 2009, and she was in her late 40's at the time. Now she has sold nearly 20 million albums worldwide, and she's living proof you can't put an age limit on your dreams!

We aren't butthurt, just pissed off that the last winner was horrible compared to the person who came in second. He was a good singer, just not nearly as good as La'Porsha.
