Dang! Nightwish Fans are amazing! Thanks for this VERY comprehensive breakdown! There's a lot here for me to explore and I'm very happy about that! Thank you!!
@@AaronGoodTastyJams We know very well an informed reactor is a good reactor. Nighwish have a 24y history, so you need a map and a compass to navigate. Enjoy the wild ride!
I'm a 33 year long classically trained bassoonist in addition to being a guitarist for the past 30 years, and as you know, having that ear for being able to tell if something is real or isn't definitely grows on someone who is attuned to playing in a concert band or orchestra. What you mean by "canned" is definitely a backing track, as you have picked up that none of those instruments are synthesized. Yes, you can synth strings, but you can definitely tell the difference between that on a keyboard versus the real thing. These were real. I've even picked out the bassoon parts (the bassoon stands out in that mid-section), clarinet parts, and low brass. So they are definitely real, and this is without even knowing that they have had the London Philharmonic Orchestra on permanent retainer for the past 15 to 20 years. I'm glad that you've picked out the instruments in that, and I bet that if you listened to it again, you could pick out the trombones in it (I can guarantee you, they are there, as I hear them myself)!
For sure! I wasn't very clear in the video. I meant canned as in "recorded by live musicians beforehand but not performed live on the stage" as opposed to "synth instruments". They absolutely sound real to me as well haha I'll definitely go back and listen for the trombones!
@@AaronGoodTastyJams The backing track for this was London Philharmonic, and the choral was the London Metro. My understanding is that for the interlude Toumas (the keyboard player and composer of 95% of their music) told Pip Williams to go for it and gave him the freedom to do what he wanted with it. The core of Nightwish is from Finland, the vocalist is from the Netherlands, and there is a multi-instrumentalist, Troy from the UK.
@@AaronGoodTastyJams Nah, I got your meaning, on what it is and yeah, prerecorded because touring like NW is prone to do with a full orchestra would be impossible in more ways than one. "Hey, lets get the London Phil and go on a World Tour for over a year!"
Pretty sure there are some songs NW doesn't/didn't hire an orchestra for - but they definitely did for GLS^^ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Once_(Nightwish_album)
@@kujika Oh, there are definitely some songs that they didn't use an orchestra for. Phantom of the Opera, Slow Love Slow, The Islander, all for example.. but for those that they did require orchestrations for, I'm pretty sure the London Philharmonic was the one they had on permanent retainer..
I watched all 3 SymMusicReact reactions and I have to say yours was without a doubt the best. The other guy kept talking about movies and the girl wants “the bitch to be her rock star Aunt”. You actually listened to the song and were able to tell us what was going on within the piece. I liked that. Tuomas/Keyboard composes 95% of the music and lyrics. He’s quite poetic and is known as the Metal Mozart. 🤘😄
Truer words were never spoken! I was literally thinking to write your same thoughts when your comment jump in my view, lol!😅🤣 I liked the pink haired girl's comment about wanting Floor to be her "rockstar aunt" (who wouldn't have her as a relative?😍), but the b-word turned me off a little... I understand it's a slang thing, still I feel slightly sad for her (the girl, I mean). About the musicologist... I feel sorry for him!🤣🤣🤣 The like/dislike ratio will be harsh! Greetings from Italy! 👋🇮🇹🖖
The thing about the movie score influence is getting old. Let's not forget that, however true it is of Tuomas personally, the current of influence runs mostly from metal to film scores. All those epic film scores of the last decade, something almost never seen before, are effectively metal played by an orchestra. You won't get it out of the hollyweird bunch without red hot thongs, but there it is!
You are just the man we, the Nightwish family, need to do more Nightwish reactions because of your backround in classical music. I could learn a lot from you. Nightwish is from Finland. The leader and mastermind behind Nightwish is Tuomas Holopainen, keys, he writes vast majority of Nightwish songs - composition, lyrics, arrangement. He can play the clarinet, sax and pipe organ too, not with Nightwish though. Nightwish uses a back track, played by The London Philharmonic Orchestra. Two choirs take part in the recordings. The music is written by Tuomas. The 3rd and current, and the last, says Tuomas, female lead vocalist is Floor Jansen, she's Dutch. She joined Nightwish mid tour 10 months before Wacken Open Air 2013 festival, replacing the 2nd female lead vocalist. She had 48 hours to learn the set list, and was about to s..t her pants, (her words to the audience 3,5 years later when they returned to Seattle) before the 1st gig, and she admitted to the audience in the beginning of the concert in Seattle September 2012, that she was very nervous about how it's gonna go down, and asked for understanding and support. Please react to more Nightwish! Looking forward to it! Subscribed! Greetings from Helsinki Finland! Stay safe!
Yeah! I really like when musicians and performers react and tell us about details they noticed in the song and get excited about it when they are listening. One of my favorites is ruclips.net/video/VbrmKDpIVuY/видео.html
Tuomas Holopainen is a great composer, keyboardplayer and leader of this band. Before you get infected by the Nightwish Army (believe me, YOU WILL (I did)), please react to these TOP VARIETY OF MANY MUSICALINTRUMENTS/SINGERS: The Source is the 9th studio album from Ayreon, a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen Anthony Lucassen, released on April 28, 2017. is a song that features all 11 (well known) main guest singers [James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Tommy Karevik (Kamelot, Seventh Wonder), Tommy Rogers (Between the Buried and Me) , Simone Simons (Epica), Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind), Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia), Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), Mike Mills (ToeHider), Russell Allen (Symphony X), Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus), Floor Jansen (Nightwish)] and is taken from that album. Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instrument are used and by what standards. Btw. The clip is 13 min. Long and I think you won’t regret it !! Please lend your ear to their latest album's Human :||: Nature Disc 2. It's all instumental and soooo good
This was played, in studio, by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and arranged by Pip Williams, with whom Nightwish have collaborated many times. They're all very talented people and it shows!
Love the D&D books in the background and listening to Nightwish. I am a violinist and love hearing the backing they create for their songs, it fascinates me how well the sounds work well together. And amazes me that Floor had been with the group such a short time at this point.
Good reaction! I watch a lot of these because I enjoy watching people's fresh reactions to this music I love so much. What I enjoy the most, however, is watching honest emotional reactions from people who also know what they are talking about; people who can say, "That was cool, and here's exactly WHY it was cool..." Please, feel free to hit us with all the technical details you want.
Great analysis Aaron! Yes, they play to a click track of pre-recorded symphony (which is no easy task as you have to be spot-on to what you're playing live!) I think some samples are triggered by the keyboard player (whom is also the composer/arranger of this and most of Nightwish's pieces - absolute genius!) Floor Jansen's voice is ethereal. She is our Dutch Valkyrie readying us for battle!!
Thanks for excellent reaction&breakdown. Nice stuff. NW is from Finland, singer is dutch and currently there is also an English multi-instrumentalist for backing vocals, pipes, second guitar etc. You should check their live performance "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, live from Buenos Aires". Singer Floor Jansen had cold, but us mortals could not spot it.
Nightwish Army, UK division reporting for duty. That was a great reaction. I'm a classically trained violinist and your breakdown of this is exactly my own thoughts, and it's nice to see someone break down the music and actually recognise the instruments such as flutes, clarinets and bassoons. I'd love to see you do Greatest Show on Earth as that has a huge orchestral influence as well as influences by Bach and other musicians!
So what you are saying, in a nutshell, is that this song is musical perfection. I totally agree with your excellent analysis, and look forward to more of this in the future. You deserve another sub (or a few hundred when the army arrives) for that.
I don't know much about the technicalities of music. But the first time I listened to this song, one word came to my mind. Masterpiece. Then I watched the video and found out they were live. Suddenly masterpiece felt underwhelming. Perfection is what i was looking for.
Sometimes Tuomas introduces a melodic idea right in the beginning, it might be through the guitar, or the synth. That "Idea" returns later, in another form but you still recognize it and it feels familiar.
They've got a brand new double album, and the whole 2nd disc is a long orchestral piece divided into 8 parts. It's stunningly beautiful.. Apparently Hans Zimmer is a fan.
New subscriber from Australia. As a former French Horn player and pianist ,I LOVE Nightwish - Wagner-ish, Sibelius-like and Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards and composer) has been called the "Metal Mozart". 82,000 people at that Wacken festival... Epica is another band worth looking at - especially their "Retrospect" concert with orchestra and choir... Floor Jansen from Nightwish appears with them to sing with her friend Simone Simons for a couple of stand-out numbers - "Sancta Terra" and "Stabat Mater Dolorosa".... Both are well worth a reaction! Other Nightwish songs you should look at, once you know the back story, are "The Poet and The Pendulum" (live, Wembley) and "The Greatest Show on Earth" (Live, Tampere). (edit: clarinet and/or cor englais?)
... Black forrest platoon arrived. nice reaction. you are right about the orchestral part. It is not possible to have the London Philharmonic Orchestra into your pocket. So they recorded the backing tracks in advance. Greez from Germany
@@haraldschuster3067 even Epica usually doesn't bring a whole orchestra from what I understand. They only brought one with them to that one special show they did that Floor came on as a guest.
@@haraldschuster3067 That was Epica's Decade Retrospect show, where they pulled out all the stops. Tuomas might do something like that for Nightwish's 25th anniversary.
Epica had no symphony with them when I saw them. Symphonic bands can't afford to tour with a full symphony. Once in awhile they perform with a symphony, like Dimmu Borgir doing a special live DVD.
Hi! Nice reaction. You guys should definitely react to 'Shoemaker' (lyric video) from their new album. The whole album in really good but Shoemaker is absolutely amazing.
actually he's being collaborating with Pip Williams for lots of NW songs. Tuomas is hella talented but credit where is due. Source: wikipedia and the Nightwish "We were here" book
Angstbringer yea, Pip does the final arrangements according to Tuomas’ demos/raw arrangements/ideas - they decide together what instruments to use and so forth.
Welcome back, Aaron! Nightwish can be heavy and airy at the same time, which is quite a rare. And they are also masters of building emotions and climaxes. This performance is one of the most epic ones. The flaming bullhead is the trademark of the Wacken Open Air festival. Great reaction and greetings from Finland!
Thanks for the very analytical reaction! It's really interesting to hear this stuff from professional musicians, because most of us don't understand the pieces that make it so magical to us! While you're listening to this Genre, have a listen to Epica - Sancta Terra live. Same genre but for that show they had an orchestra and choir.
This entire Nightwish performance (Wacken 2013) is available in HD on RUclips. Treat yourself to watching the whole 90 minute set start to finish - it's ALL this good. Every. Song.
Well done sir! FYI: This was the 13th offering of this concert (before 82k people) from a 15 song set. Her ability to belt out a D-5 ending the performance was absolutely astounding. Floor (Jansen pronounced Yansen) had already performed really great stuff leading to "GLS". Her charisma along with the overall talent of their musicianship really captures you. React to more of their music from this and other concerts. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for the post....TC
I've listened to classical music all my life. Later on, I added metal. Symphonic metal, of which Nightwish is the apogee, is such a wonderful synthesis. I'm finishing up my second symphony. Now, if someone will only orchestrate AC/DC's "Who Made Who?", I'll be content.
Keyboardist/songwriter-composer/lyricist Tuomas Holopainen creates the initial rough orchestrations in the demo stage then works with arranger Pip Williams in London to produce a full orchestral final arrangement which is then performed by members of The London Philharmonic Orchestra and the affiliated Metro Voices choir.
Notice hoe Morcos strums hie base. You don't see that very often. At the end of the song he is really shredding that bass. I have listen to this song several times and it still gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it.
I liked that you had so much to comment on the song and that you actually shared your thoughts. I can't believe I've watched 5 videos from this channel in a row. But different people have different things to highlight and I enjoy learning from others' point of view. Thank you for sharing this.
thank you very much. it is always a pleasure to see a "serious" musician appreciate this music we love so much. it is called symphonic metal. they have the london philharmonic orchestra, the metro voices choir group from london and london's young musicians children's choir on backtrack. arranger and composer is keyborder tuomas holopainen. singer floor jansen had some classical vocal training. greetings from germany.
Glad you enjoyed it. I appreciated your insight. Nightwish is my favorite band. They are amazing! Off topic, but couldn't help but notice your "The Way of Kings" sitting on the bookshelf behind you. You listened to my favorite while displaying a book from my favorite series from my favorite Author. Can't wait for November 17th and book 4 "The Rhythm of War"
That was a very good reaction thankyou hope you do more maybe a song from their new album, think you would enjoy it. In fact the second cd of the new album is an orchestral masterpiece in seven parts I believe .
Nice reaction! This genre of music is known as Symphonic Metal. GLS is the most reacted to song, in the history of music reaction videos, with 900+. A good deal ahead of Jinjer-Pisces, that is second. Several reactors have gotten over a million views on their GLS reaction. With the highest having 2.4 mil! Helping to make Nightwish the most reacted to artist or band in the history of music reactions videos. With close to 6,000. See "Masterlist Nightwish Reactions". The have more then 125 songs on 9 studio albums, in their discography. FYI:There were 82,000+ in the audience at this performance. It is the 13th of 15 songs that NW performed that night. I would recommend either 'Ever Dream' or 'Storytime' from the same concert for your next Nightwish reaction. The singer's name is Floor Jansen. She is the 3rd and still current female lead singer of Nightwish (est. 1996) She had been with the band for little over 10 months at the time of this concert on 03 August 2013, when she was 32. She started performing in the first Metal Band she was in, After-Forever, at the age of 16. After that band disbanded, she started her own band called Revamp. Which was on hiatus, when she received a call from Nightwish to take over the female lead singing duties mid-tour. The rest is herstory.
I'd love to see Nightwish do this song live with a full orchestra and maybe even a choir instead of the backing tracks. You guys should offer your services.
I really enjoyed your technical insight, I love this band, but good to start to understand the musical theory that creates the emotions I feel - not necessary but nice. Take care and you have another subscriber :)
A great analysis in all its specific details. I followed already dozens of reactions on Nightwish and obviously you're a professional musician too, from the classical side, but with great appreciation for other good music. Your connection is especially with the instrumental and symphonic sounds of the band. And rightfully so, because the music itself is really epic(!), composed by Tuomas Holopainen and therefor I learned a lot ftom you. I just find that your sole remark that "the singer is also excellent" was a bit of an understatement. Perhaps you will get your Floorgasms later in the weeks ahead. Floor Jansen (Dutch) is not only a goddess and fenomenal singer, who can practically sing everything, but as their front lady she plays a very crucial role to bring this great music from the band to the crowd. She lets the people " feel the music with her", which is a rare quality, but Oh, so important. Please include her performance a bit more noticable in your next reactions (of which I'm sure there will be more to come) and instead of a 9 you will get 10 out of 10.
I think the Nightwish army will agree that yours was our favorite reaction out of the 3. At least you paid the respect the band deserve, at least you actually listened and gave your heartfelt opinion. Even you were to dislike the song or the band (I don't see how can anyone could not but to each their own) I would've like your reaction anyway. Very well done sir!
Well we haven't had this perspective yet, thanks! It's so interesting and amazing to hear the different thoughts people have according to their profession and background. 😁 The fiery bullhead is actually the stag logo for the Wacken Music Festival in Germany. They are ALL excellent musicians, each a master at their own instrument. The singer, Floor Jansen, was not even the official singer at the time of filming this concert. In fact, Wacken 2013 marked the end of the tour and Floor's time with the band. You see.... Floor was only doing Toumas (Keyboards) a favor because their last singer, Anette, quit the band after a show on September 29th 2012 mid world tour. Floor was given only 48hrs to learn the set, get to the US and walk onto the stage as part of Nightwish for the first time on October 1sr 2012. The tour ended at the Wacken Music Festival on August 11, 2013. On October 09, 2013 Tuomas offered Floor the gig permanently and with tears and a smile she said "YES!" The news was made public on November 29th 2013 along with the release of the Wacken DVD. For the next reaction, try "The Greatest Show On Earth" live at Tampere. Thank you for the video, it was awesome! 😊❤🤘🤘
Isn't it weird? Some music just makes you smile. Every time I hear this song, I catch myself smiling without even thinking about it. It's just so damn good.
The fiery bullhead is the logo of the W.O.A. (Wacken Open Air) Festival. It is an anual festival (first week of August) taking place in the small village of Wacken (ca.2000 residents) northwest of Hamburg,Germany. Almost every sub-genre of metal is played there. In 2019 there were 200 bands playing on 9 stages from Wednesday to Saturday. Wacken is sold out every year for the last 12 years and the tickets for 2020 lasted just 21 hours. Due to this virus it had to be canelled, but ticket owners could exchange them for 2021 and 90% did that. In 2013 Nightwish were headliners and played for a crowd of 82.000 on that evening and their whole show was legendary. You could pick any of the 15 songs and be surprised and amazed with every song.
I didn't, but that's exciting! I only got about 3 books into that series before giving up at the time. Hopefully a tv show could condense that very lengthy series into something I can digest easier haha
@@AaronGoodTastyJams amazon is pouring a shit ton of money into it, so i really think it will be better than Game of Thrones. Not sure if you knew this, but Brandon Sanderson finished it, since Robert Jordan died before it ended. His widowed wife chose Brandon to finish the series.
Well, if this is a reaction competition channel, you win by a 1 million votes. Very very nice reaction and review. Really enjoyed that, and please do more!!!
I should add that the last several studio albums from Nightwish have featured orchestral versions as bonus discs. I don't know of any other bands doing this. They are a cut above.
As a fellow metalhead/musicologist/DnD-enthusiast, I would really like to see you guys' take on Blind Guardian's Wheel of Time - to my ears probably the best symbiosis between Metal band and orchestra.
I love nightwish live but you could also look at Within temptation black Symphony. That is a live recording of within temptaton with the metropole orchestra. The intro was specialy created for the orchestra and then it goes on with Jilian from within temptation.just search for within temptation black symphony ouverture/Jilian.
A lot of Nightwish reactionisme to go...... so much perfection and Nice live performance. I guess the army will write down the list to listen and reactie to. I listen now for a few months all the good musical reaction. And because beeing Dutch (as Floor), i Will recommend “beste zangers” to see and hear Floor in a different setting. The are really “the greatest show on earth”.
Fantastic review! More Nightwish Army comments for info: -- Band is from Finland. Floor is born in Netherlands, in Dutch "Floor" is suppose to translate as "Flower". Floor speaks four languages: Dutch, English, Swedish, and Finnish (with the band), and can sing in two others: Spanish and German. Lives in Sweden now with hubby Hans, the drummer in Sabaton. Has 3 year old daughter, and two horses that she loves to death. -- Agree 100% with your distinction between the softer and harder elements of the song. This will also play into which other Nightwish songs you will most enjoy listening to. Persons like myself (and many others as I can see from the Comments) prefer more of the heavier sound, and therefore recommend songs like "Romanticide", "Storytime", and "Song of Myself" (using the pro-shot versions from the same Wacken concert as your G.L.S. review). Others may prefer a softer sound -- recommendations here include "Elan". -- Floor did a song with Epica, "Sancta Terra", which used an actual physically present orchestra and choir with the band, which it sounds like you might enjoy. -- For those who focus more on the VOCALS (which maybe you do not), Floor performed a series of highly critically acclaimed performances of other persons songs ("covers") in a Dutch TV series called "Beste Zangers" in 2019. Examples include "Shallow" by Lady Gaga, the famous opera duet "Phantom of the Opera" with Henk Poort, the German Opera "Vilja lied", the Spanish song "Que Se Siente" (a great example of "belting"), and yes, Aaron, she even sang a COUNTRY SONG (she can sing anything): a "twang-twang-twang" called "Don't Know a Thing About Love". Ha Ha! All of these songs have received dozens of rave reviews by vocal coaches. -- For perhaps one of her finest vocal performances, she most recently, in April 2020, released a vocal track in support of a fund-raising charity for children trapped in war-zones such as Syria (in Dutch) called "De Beelden Blijven (A Song for War Child)". Mostly just pure vocals here, with some piano backing, very simple arrangement, but you might like it anyway, and it supports an important charity. Looking forward to more of your reviews ... T.C.

I usually go to professional musician's channels to learn something. I think it would add a lot if you could pause during the performance and explain what is going on/give your feedback immediately. It's kind of lost when there is so much at the end. You can still give an overall impression at the end. Just put the link to the origional video in the description and people can watch in their own time.
I believe Thoumas does play some synthesized parts through his keyboards, but what is played by him vs what is a recording played back I couldn’t tell you.

Welcome back to the Nightwish Army!!! YOU WERE NOT READY FOR THE NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!
They absolutely sound real to me as well haha
I'll definitely go back and listen for the trombones!
I was literally thinking to write your same thoughts when your comment jump in my view, lol!😅🤣
I liked the pink haired girl's comment about wanting Floor to be her "rockstar aunt" (who wouldn't have her as a relative?😍), but the b-word turned me off a little...
I understand it's a slang thing, still I feel slightly sad for her (the girl, I mean).
About the musicologist... I feel sorry for him!🤣🤣🤣
The like/dislike ratio will be harsh!
Greetings from Italy!
👋🇮🇹🖖
@@flaviovergottini652 I support both these comments wholeheartedly
@@Amaranthos2 thank you!
If he's Metal Mozart, then what is Mustis?

Yeah! I really like when musicians and performers react and tell us about details they noticed in the song and get excited about it when they are listening. One of my favorites is ruclips.net/video/VbrmKDpIVuY/видео.html
@@watafumx Mine too.

It's all instumental and soooo good
Kyllä, mutta ehkä Tampere Greatest Show on Earth?
This was played, in studio, by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and arranged by Pip Williams, with whom Nightwish have collaborated many times. They're all very talented people and it shows!
Nice collection of D&D books in the background :)
I wish NW army would give Pip Williams more credit for orchestral arrangements. He's the guy who makes Tuomas' visions happen.
Definitely the best of the three reactions.
Love the D&D books in the background and listening to Nightwish. I am a violinist and love hearing the backing they create for their songs, it fascinates me how well the sounds work well together. And amazes me that Floor had been with the group such a short time at this point.
Finally, I think you might be the first to ever mention the guitar solo is in the same tone as Floor´s singing just before the solo. I just love that!
I see a man of taste *notices the DnD books*
I had a tee shirt in the 70s that said "DnD" on it, because I couldn't afford and iron-on ampersand and still have enough money for a dragon
I noticed The Way of Kings, one of the best fantasies I ever read.
And now, perhaps a little power metal? Might I suggest Unleash the Archers, Awakening.
Also Ironsworn in the end of the shelf there, good stuff.
The first thing I thought too^^
Good reaction!
Yes, they play to a click track of pre-recorded symphony (which is no easy task as you have to be spot-on to what you're playing live!) I think some samples are triggered by the keyboard player (whom is also the composer/arranger of this and most of Nightwish's pieces - absolute genius!)
Floor Jansen's voice is ethereal. She is our Dutch Valkyrie readying us for battle!!
Thanks! And please don't hold back, you can show as much of the musicologist as you want ;)
I don't want to alienate people but I'll see if I can slip in a little more as it comes up haha
@@AaronGoodTastyJams You won't. Watching regular people reacting got boring. Tell us your professional opinion, beyond "so good".
@@FryingPan76 Useful information. Thanks!
For 'uncanned' full orchestra : try Epica - Sancta Terra live Retrospect.
Highly recommendable if you are in orchestra!!
Nightwish Army is here
That familiar rumble, rumble, rumble over the horizon...
dutch platoon checkin in too
UK platoon ready!
The Nightwish army is coming sir
Reporting for duty :D
Likewise 🙋
That was a legit floorgasm.
Repirting for duty
Sir, yes, sir!!
ty.... your reaction is what I was hoping for when I saw symphony musicians react in my feed.
Did Hans Zimmer say that himself?? That would be awesome!
Ah well ... Epica is often a tad more ambitious and brings like 30+ musicians and 20+ choir on stage. :)
@@haraldschuster3067 even Epica usually doesn't bring a whole orchestra from what I understand. They only brought one with them to that one special show they did that Floor came on as a guest.
@@haraldschuster3067
That was Epica's Decade Retrospect show, where they pulled out all the stops.
Tuomas might do something like that for Nightwish's 25th anniversary.
The backing choir is London Metro I think.
Floor Rolled a Nat 20 on her Charisma check during this Performance.
Tuomas (The Keyboardist) does all the arrangement.
Oh cool! Thanks for the info! My DC for being charmed by good music is very low haha
actually he's being collaborating with Pip Williams for lots of NW songs. Tuomas is hella talented but credit where is due.
Source: wikipedia and the Nightwish "We were here" book
Angstbringer yea, Pip does the final arrangements according to Tuomas’ demos/raw arrangements/ideas - they decide together what instruments to use and so forth.
First things first: nice D&D 5e collection!
The way your expression changes is priceless
And all those D&D books in the background...
Nice to see another R.A. Salvatore fan! Loved your breakdown of the song!
He killed Chewie 😡
Good analysis of the various musical components that Tuomas created!
thank you very much. it is always a pleasure to see a "serious" musician appreciate this music we love so much. it is called symphonic metal. they have the london philharmonic orchestra, the metro voices choir group from london and london's young musicians children's choir on backtrack. arranger and composer is keyborder tuomas holopainen. singer floor jansen had some classical vocal training. greetings from germany.
Tuomas is the modern rock amadeus! just genius.
to sum op what the vocal range is of floor: YESS!
ok... you were great on your breakdowns.. cant say i was impressed with the other 2
More Nightwish
The has no choice now. He’s been turned.
Well, third time it's a charm! Solid 9.
Thanks! hehe rocky start maybe, but it's all a learning process :)
I enjoyed your analysis. It's great seeing how persons of different backgrounds notice things that others do not.
Plus 1 extra thumbs up for having Ironsworn on that shelf!
I've sworn an Iron Vow to love awesome rpgs!
Loving your bookshelf too...and the appreciation for the music.
I really enjoyed your technical insight, I love this band, but good to start to understand the musical theory that creates the emotions I feel - not necessary but nice. Take care and you have another subscriber :)
Lovely reaction. Thank you. 😁👍
Nice expert reaction, thank you.
Boy... I love your reaction! Welcome to the Nightwish Army!!!!!!!!!!
Nightwish Army here :) Thank you, Aaron.
The fiery bullhead is actually the stag logo for the Wacken Music Festival in Germany.
Awesome impressions and analysis! GLS reminds me of Carmina Burana.
Oh wow yeah! There are totally shades of Carl Orff here! Nice catch!
The fiery bull head is the Wacken festival logo.
Great reaction!!😃 I really really hope you check out more Nightwish 👍👍 The army is on the way you will get a syllabus 🤘🤘🤘
I see those D&D books in the bookshelf.
I kind of love how Floor was a bit of an afterthought. "Oh, and the singer was good too". lol.
Isn't it weird? Some music just makes you smile. Every time I hear this song, I catch myself smiling without even thinking about it. It's just so damn good.
I see 5th edition & some Sanderson on that shelf. Excellent taste my man.
The NW delegation welcomes you. Happy to have you aboard.
Great reaction!
Wonderful! I'll definitely check out the rest of that show!
Upstate New York Battalion NW Army reporting. Nice reaction. 👍🏻
If I'm not mistaken, the fiery bullhead is a symbol of the Wacken festival itself, it's not put there by Nightwish.
Great ear and very informed review. Liked and subbed.
Did you know the wheel of time is becoming a TV series on Amazon prime?
I didn't, but that's exciting! I only got about 3 books into that series before giving up at the time. Hopefully a tv show could condense that very lengthy series into something I can digest easier haha
@@AaronGoodTastyJams amazon is pouring a shit ton of money into it, so i really think it will be better than Game of Thrones. Not sure if you knew this, but Brandon Sanderson finished it, since Robert Jordan died before it ended. His widowed wife chose Brandon to finish the series.

I should add that the last several studio albums from Nightwish have featured orchestral versions as bonus discs. I don't know of any other bands doing this. They are a cut above.
Watching Floor perform is the metal equivalent of Juja Wang performing Prokofiev's Toccata.
Very good insights...Enjoyed hearing them...
I see those DnD books...

Night wish army here, were EVERYWHERE!!!

Fantastic review! More Nightwish Army comments for info:
-- Band is from Finland.
