Wozniacki is now a validated tennis champion! 27 time WTA titlist, 2017 WTA Finals Champion and now the 2018 Australian Open Champion!!! What a champion she is! I feel so much happiness seing her win this trophy!
Those final two points are definition Wozniacki: so much effort, athleticism and talent to grind out points. She turns defense into offense so well and is the best at getting extra balls back and forcing the error. So proud of her!
For those who are judging and only watched the highlights, both of them played INCREDIBLE and showed so much heart. Nobody needs a coaching change or sucks or whatever, they did amazing.
The serving was pitiful. So bad, that both players were disadvantaged when they served. Frustrating to watch. Tennis should not be played at elite level like this. Serena would have killed em and I’m not one of her fans.
@@Picklejam08 This is a very, very stupid comment. Serena is the GOAT. She can destroy almost everyone's serve. However, Kerber still beat her while her serve is worse than these two. One can be weak in aspect and make up for it from other parts of her game.

Wow this year 2018 at both the Australian and French Open both the finalists are counter puncher players, probably the big hitters will step up at Wimbledon. Either way I'm super happy that Simona Halep finally win a Slam at Paris after her third final loss. We have three first time slam winners straight now since the US Open. Are we waiting for a new first timer at Wimbledon this year?
You can see this on extended highlights (whole match is on here too I believe) what they cut out is after the insane rally on the penultimate point Simona lets out a smile like "yeah that was a great point", even though she lost it and would lose the match on the very next point.
The amazing thing is Caroline, who played fantastic, both did, was not supposed to be here. She was down 5-1 in the third set against Fett. She did not win that one because she played great but because Fett produced the most mind boggling melt down in the history of tennis. That said Caroline played the best tennis of her life in these finals, the only way she could win against Simona, who is playing the best tennis of her life.
Well they got a marquee match that lived up to expectations. There are these wildcards out there like Karlovic (who somehow didn't end Murray on his Wimbledon run) who can be lethal every now and then. I don't know what you are suggesting. I'm not suggesting anything.
I am not suggesting anything either. Just laying out the facts. She was down 5-1 and the way Fett played until then there was no way she could have won. It took a major meltdown from Fett for Caroline to be in the finals. Such is life. Other than that, they get paid millions to play ball, I have to pay to watch. Such is the system.
Welp,.. halep blew it again.. but let this match be a lesson for her, to not rely on her foot speed and athleticism all the time.. she is actually capable of flattening out shots, being more aggressive and dictating play and i think she should incorporate to this style of play a little bit more because she isn't getting any younger and it's going to be more physically demanding on her body if she goes on the defensive all the time.. that being said, congrats to Wozniacki!! finally she shut all the haters down who said she will never win a grand slam lol

Jonathan Gianguzzo yup, i feel like simona wanted to win the french open more than any slams...hopefully it will be third time lucky for her this year at the RG
Most people (myself included) had given up any hope that she would end up winning a GS and would be remembred mostly as the world nr 1 who couldn't win the big titles. She deserves alot of credit for overcoming all of that and finally winning one.
Halep has changed a lot. She is tougher now and an overall better player by a mile than when she lost that final to Serena (who can just serve aces and win anything even if she is horrible in all other aspects on that week) and it was heartbreaking because she was playing really well throughout that tournament. With Simona as far as working harder and tinkering things like everyone is suggesting, I like to think she has reached the absolute limit of human physical exertion that is possible without using PEDs or killing yourself. And if her game lacks anything, it's what she cannot get. For example she cannot get taller so that she can hit more dangerous and faster first serves to win more points off it like Wozniacki did the entire way in this tournament. Wozniacki was actually serving quite well throughout. I feel like that is not said enough. I love Simona to death, I don't think there is a player I am rooting for more to win a Slam especially after losing this one, but my pragmatism makes me think she will have to be really lucky like a lot of players before her who won slams have been, to win a Grand Slam herself. Like I think Wozniacki was in this one. She has to get a favorable draw, avoid injuries, hope her would-be kryptonite opponents get eliminated in the other side of the draw, etc. Just everything has to be perfect. Because so far, there is always one thing that will work against her. It's almost unfair.
A battle of the retrievers this was and Caro proved more resilient. Halep was excellent too, hope she wins a GS in the future. I do not bother with people who believe retrievers shouldn't play personally so this was very entertaining to watch.
toxicfievre They aren't. All they were doing is hit right and hit left. Where is the Art here. The ball was begging for a volley, a drop shot or someone going to the net and maybe someone taking it early.
You shouldn't expect retrievers to play at the net, I don't so I got what I expected. Rounded players are very entertaining but people here are acting as if this was a boring match and to me it wasn't. It was incredible to see such determination from both sides.

Great game- both players played under horrible heat. Congrats to Caroline and great job to Simona.
This is what a dream come true looks like ❤️
Congratulations Caroline Wozniaki! You are a great player with a beautiful heart and soul.
so happy for you Caroline you made it. l like you cause you are Serena's friend.
Amazing hitting!!!!
What a match, booth are very good
The highlights are a bit misleading... Halep did bounce back in 3rd from 02 to 42 if i m not mistaken but none of that is covered
I’m here after she just announced her return to the tour 🎉🎉🎉
Caro is the queen of deffense and backhand
Finally...wocniaki 1st slam!!! Congratulations!
I'm happy for Caroline, but my heart was with Simona. The French Open should be all hers.
Jonathan Gianguzzo yup, i feel like simona wanted to win the french open more than any slams...hopefully it will be third time lucky for her this year at the RG
Who came back to this video after Woz announced her return !? 🙋♂
Wow what happen between 0-2 to 4-5 on third set... Btw congratulations caro! Finally not a slamless world no 1
I m still waiting for Svitolina s first GS but Caroline played so well this tournament
sebastian pizano She hasn't got the mental toughness to do that, yet....
Santy Tenis M yes you are right but i hope she can solve it
Caroline and Simone won their first GS in 2018. Sad that Caroline has retired.
Sweeeeett Caroline... pa pa paaaa.. Good times never seemed so good..
Most people (myself included) had given up any hope that she would end up winning a GS and would be remembred mostly as the world nr 1 who couldn't win the big titles. She deserves alot of credit for overcoming all of that and finally winning one.
One of the greatest women tennis matches of all time
...not even close, but it was entertaining.
Caroline is the best defensive player with a good offense
Finally! This is too long overdue. She earns it this time!
A battle of the retrievers this was and Caro proved more resilient. Halep was excellent too, hope she wins a GS in the future. I do not bother with people who believe retrievers shouldn't play personally so this was very entertaining to watch.
i know! look what happened when keys (power player) made it to the final..was over in under an hour..to me the defensive players are so fun to watch.
toxicfievre They aren't. All they were doing is hit right and hit left. Where is the Art here. The ball was begging for a volley, a drop shot or someone going to the net and maybe someone taking it early.
Rushil Rai .just because you dont see the art, does not mean it is not there. ;)
its their game style to stay at the baseline..neither one of them made it to the final coming in hitting volleys.why would they start now?
You shouldn't expect retrievers to play at the net, I don't so I got what I expected. Rounded players are very entertaining but people here are acting as if this was a boring match and to me it wasn't. It was incredible to see such determination from both sides.
