    Can you imagine growing up like that, I'm from the west coast of Newfoundland and this is what we see every winter. We had a two-story home and we managed to get on the roof and jump off into the snow drifts, I guess it's sure when they say you can never go home again. But I love Newfoundland this is where I reside this is where my children and my grandchildren live.#proudNewfie

      To tell you the truth Id rather have Corner Brook winters than what we have on the East Coast of Newfoundland. At least on the west coast once winter comes it’s there to stay. Over here winter is just a mess. You can have a brutal snow storm over here and have it turn to pouring rain before the day is over.
      I grew up in Lab. City. Yes it was cold and yes the winters were brutal but I loved it there. In this video the storm is bad because it crippled everything. Shut the city down for ten days. Crazy weather. Keep well and thanks for watching.

Thank you for your kind comments and you really made Kathy smile as well. She really is responsible for these videos. I’ve seen her blowing on her fingers while filming but she will never give up. She’s always looking for the next great shot. A true professional videographer.

    I've been operating snow blowers for 50 of my 65 years and I can say that tractor is matched real well with the blower. I've used to large of blower for the horse power and to small for the horse power. Now I use an old 7045 allis chalmers and an 8 foot blower for my 1/2 mile driveway. The rear mount is kind of a pain in the neck but nothing stops it!. Keep up the good work.

    Glad you were able to get it cleared up! Our old JD 950 with its 27 Hp Yanmar diesel and no live PTO was a bear to snow blow with. Back it into a drift, and you had to pop it out of gear to let it clear the blower. You couldn't simply stop it moving and have the PTO still operate. Mind you, it saved us for close to 30 years! I do miss it now, but I couldn't get up unto it any more. Thank goodness for our great neighbours who blow the main part of our driveway for us!

    Wow this brings back some old memories of me in the snow we had so much you could build tunnels through it, had to have a D 9 dozer to get us cleared out there where drifts over 8 feet high. We could climb on top of our ranch style house with no problem and check out the chimney on the roof, in some places it was over 12 feet high and covered the whole side of the house you could not open a single window. When the snow melted we had a dirt pile that was about 8 feet high. The driveway was about a little over a 5/8 of a mile long. Great video Kathy and Paul you guys are the cats meow for sure.

    a great video as i have driven lifts for 30 years and although not the same concept when you can operate a piece of equipment really well and love what you do it makes a difference. we were even lucky enough to operate "slip -sheet" lifts where light pallets of "megabloks" toys were piled onto sheets of very strong fiber instead of pallets and it certainly takes some practice to push and reverse all at the same time.

    That is serious snow and a serious snow blower. Many years ago, I lived in the adirondaks, northern NY state and saw snow like this. I now live in Georgia and only see snow like this on YT. Oddly, I have a Kubota F3680 which is used by some in Ontario to move snow. I will be ok with the occasional inch of snow we may see. I doubt it will be this season. Thanks for the snow moving video demonstration from people that know how to handle snow. You are the experts at it. 👍

      Bob & Kim McDonald ... and to think that I almost bought an open station tractor last summer! Then I went out to my bush property to clear some overgrown fields and cut firewood. Between the deer flies, black flies, and mosquitos, I thought I might expire from blood loss! Decision made - I now own a cabbed Grand L4060 and I have zero regrets. It was worth every extra penny!

    • @7863348

    • @profdave2861
      @profdave2861 4 года назад +1

      Paul & Kathy Short I’d love a BX or even B series open station for those jobs where small and nimble is important. However, I do have a 1962 Massey Ferguson 50 with a FE loader that still runs well, so I can get my open air time with Mother Nature on that. While it’s a great classic tractor, and most everything still works , a smaller newer tractor with modern features would be awesome!
      Hope the dig out for all our Nfld friends is coming along well. Here in Eastern Ontario we had about 15-20cm of snow over the last 24 hrs. Of course the weather channels were blasting gloom and doom of a “crippling snow storm”, but I don’t pay much attention to them anymore - it’s all sensationalism for ratings and hits on their channels. As a Canadian, I consider 15-20 cm (6-8” for non-Metric readers) just a lovely dusting 😏.
      What you had out on the Rock is a REAL snowstorm - and one for the record books! I see there is even more weather coming your way so batten down the hatches and best of luck in the continuation of this harsh winter out there.
      And thanks for the great videos! Now I’m off to fire up the L4060 and my 30 yr old Agro Trend rear snow blower to get some tractor therapy and clear that “dusting”!

    • @profdave2861
      @profdave2861 4 года назад +1

      Addendum to above: Yes indeed, the L60 series is a GREAT tractor. However, if you ever happen to add a door light switch to an L60 and make a video on it, you’d make me a very happy man LOL! Even my dealer is baffled that the L60 doesn’t have a door activated overhead light, particularly since the L40 has it. Don’t get me wrong - I did countless hours of research, looking, and test driving, and I’d buy the L60 again in a heartbeat, but darn I’d like that light to come on when I open the door at night! I’m sure I could figure out how to install a switch if I had the time, but always easier when a good video shows you the way!
      Cheers!

    I don't miss the winters back home much during storms like that. But I don't care for the winters here in Saskatchewan, either. We had some for this morning and reminded me of home. Hope that the snow will let up sooner than later.👍

    Funny how wind driven snow will deposit sometimes. Biggest snowdrift I ever saw was a day we allegedly got 4", but apparently the only place that it landed was right next to the car dealership where the cars waiting for the service department were parked, under a drift about 20' high. Took end loaders and dump trucks to clean that up, not a flake anywhere else.

    More than I would ever want. We had it piled up 7 feet in front of the garage and used a shovel it into the snowblower but it was only ten feet long. That was a huge storm for us in Wisconsin. I know have a B2601 and a front blower.

    Hello Paul don’t worry about the youtube know it alls! I just got a Kubota BX2380 with a 55” commercial blower and Tektite heated cab and a 60” back blade. I don’t have to worry about where I blow snow anymore with the cab and many times I have to blow straight into the wind! I look after two senior neighbours and one has a carport and I have no choice but to blow low and straight ahead into the driveway while I’m travelling under the carport and right into gusting north winds. Even when I cleared the carport the wind blew the snow right back at me. This Saturday I had to battle that same north wind but with the heated cab I just fired up the wipers and let it fly! Big smile on my face. I blow snow the way I want to blow snow not the way an armchair you tuber tells me to! Have a great day from Sault Ste Marie where we have plenty of snow!

      Congratulations on your new machine. I love those cabs on a BX. They are a ROPS cab as well. Very impressive. Hard to beat a BX. We have one that we use in the summer around the property. Outstanding unit. Keep well and thanks for watching.

      @@7863348 I’m pretty sure I heard you say that you added a diverter to slow down the chute rotation. On my 55” commercial front blower the chute turns way to fast and it’s hard to get the right angle. I’ve been researching what I need to do to slow it down so I can control the direction more easily. Did you have a video on what you did? My deflector speed is A-ok

Kathy questioned me yesterday when I was ready to launch this video if I was going to close the comment section as I had mentioned earlier and I said I’d leave it open. I didn’t want the few trolls to win and silent all the others. Maybe our stuff is not worth watching either but we get a few that enjoy it so that makes it worth while. Thank YOU for watching.

    100% agree with how you have to blow your snow because of property lines. I have to blow my entire driveway at the garage, then blow it all in the 3 foot gap between my garage and fence. Thankfully we usually only get 6" max at a time in MN, although we've had two separate foot snows this year. Pays to have the right equipment!

    When I was a kid growing up in Upstate NY we got snow storms with snow drifts like this all the time. One year Oswego NY got 103 inches in 3 days. RUclips it; you will be shocked to see how much snow they got . In front of my girlfriends house on State route 89 the snow drift was so high they cut a tunnel thru the snow so cars could continue on the road. Snow drifts approached roof tops and tops of telephone polls.

    Just for fun here only...Looks like you two had a ball, a snow ball. My goodness sakes what a snow that was. made me think of the 1993 blizzard we ha here near where I'm at in NW NC. we had not had one bit of snow here yet but i bet we'll have our big snow sometime in Febuary or March. Seems like we got our snows during that time. But I don't have what you do but I'm looking forward getting on my "Beast" the B-7300 and do some snow moving myself but when? I have no clue. I guess when it happens it will someday but we've been lucky so far.
    Man how people down others. There's no sense in that. If I were living next to you, I welcome you and Kathy with open arms and no snow will bother me a bit. it's got to go somewhere right ? I sure wouldn't mind. Anyway it's great seeing both of you again. My gosh, from the looks of it, it may be time to go in, warm up, and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate if that's what you like. Enjoy life, enjoy one another, and love each other always.
    God Bless both of you. Stay warm and be safe.

    nice tractor setup you go there, mine is much smaller -1981 - MTD 995 with a front-mounted blower, BUT I had a stuck float on my carb that filled my engine full of gas this storm so I had to hand shovel all 265 ft of my driveway. Lucky here in Saint John we only got a foot, unlike my sister in St.John's who was trapped inside till her neighbour and 3 boys came over and rescued her and her small kids.
