I don’t really agree with that first sentence. As someone who is worried about wokeness usually has nothing to complain about in a series that usually never really dives into woke or anti-woke culture.
The movies literally haven’t introduced the girl characters yet and we are already getting Shadow. And some fans want to call Paramount sexist because of it. The movies aren’t woke, the viewers are. lol
Also, you’re right. Sonic does hate oppression. But they weren’t talking about oppression. They were talking about woke culture. What people refer to these days as woke is not the opposite of oppression.

Literally how, tho? In the first clip alone, it's shown that Silas' issue was too many humans, not too many black people that Ken is trying to insinuate.

Silas never brought up black people in that clip, nor in the actual video. His claim isn't that they're trying to shove in black people in the Sonic movies, it's that they're trying to shove in humans. The "Stupid diversity quota" he's referring to is quite literally the same claim of "too many human characters" that the Sonic franchise has been getting ever since Shadow the Hedgehog & Sonic '06. Yeah, it's still a stupid argument and one that isn't valid at all to make, but Ken somehow interpreted that as "too many black people", which isn't what Silas was claiming in the slightest
Shadows character in 06 was one of the best things about that game, because it showed us a Shadow, that wasn't doubting himself anymore, that wasn't stuck on his past anymore, but was fighting for a future.
Too many people sleep on 06's writing because of its buggy gameplay, as if the writing is the part of game development that gets done last and gets cut short by deadlines

People did like Sonic Colors but (aside from the little kids) it was despite its writing, not because of it. Colors was when the trend of Sonic not taking anything seriously began since they hired new writers that openly knew nothing about the series's history
Wasn't sonic a majority of him not taking things too serious. Until the 2000s? There were definitely dark elements in the past, but even the shows depicted him as care free and silly.

Before Colors, Sonic was a free spirit but could still take things seriously if the situation asked for it, in Colors he's insufferable, he talks like he's in a kids show. It didn't really bother me when I first played the game, but it REALLY got to me when I went back to play the remaster, it was horrible.

What's kinda sad is that I wish the Dreams Come True music that is the official lyrics/theme for Green Hill zone was in it because it's in the Japanese version for the dance off scene which while it has the nice Adventure pose reference and helped give Sonic and Tails a bonding moment. But yeah in comparison, the wedding scene is what establishes GUN in the SCU. Now could it have cut out a few mins? Sure, but when I see people complain by how long it took as though it really ruined the pacing, I just have to roll my eyes.

The fact that when it comes to movies or shows having problems, they never talk about the writing, quality or plot, their problems ALWAYS have to do with being "woke"! I remember hearing people hating the fact that Godzilla Minus One was anti-war and calling the movie "woke"! SEGA did pitch the idea of Sonic Boom, but the Wii U and 3DS games weren't made by Sonic Team, who are behind most of the Sonic games in the series. Just wanted to point that out for you.

I remember growing up with Rush Hour, which I guess technically wouldn't be revolutionary for me since I watched a lot of Chinese movies, grew up around Polynesians, black people and Asians (how he's gonna enjoy a vacation in Hawaii? 3:50 Well, yes and no, back when it released, gameplay-wise sonic colors was a great game, which was quite rare, as sonic was just leaving the so called "dark ages". However, when it comes to the story and characterization, it just felt too watered down and silly, people were critical of this version of sonic (and the entire cast of characters too as a matter of fact) who was never this childish before, and its something that permeated throughout the 2010's
Personally, id say this era was the real "dark age" as while yes, sonic 06 was terrible, it was overhated, as the game had potential to be great. I'd argue there are other sonic games worse than 06.

Videos like his are the reason media literacy are so important. A lot of his “critiques” on the franchise are just outright not even true or just conjecture. The 2010’s weren’t even heavily criticized by people outside of the fandom. Boom happened, yes, but it’s a spin off by a completely different business and developer- made for a TV show! Generations, Colors, Mania, and Racing Transformed were all well received games from an era where Sonic didn’t make a lot of content. Superstars wasn’t even considered bad it just had low sales, and after playing the game it’s very a solid follow up to mania. The appearance is just preference because the game looks great. It’s sad to see these people be so in their own bubble that they ignore the fact they aren’t the only ones with opinions on these things. Sonic has always been for everyone, and a symbol for being rebellious and believing in yourself. He would hate the fact that video even exists, look at Sonic X, no one screamed DEI there, even though it has a black kid and a paraplegic. No one screamed DEI in Unleashed, where he travels the entire world. And no one screamed DEI when Sonic sampled MALCOM X for Wrapped in Black.

Crazy, I just watched this guys video the other day and waited for him to go into why he doesn't trust the sonic franchise. Then the video ended and realized i wasted my time. Buddy said a whole lot of nothing.
He complained about diversity quotas in the wedding scene but didn't dedicate a second to the worst part of the movie, the random Siberian dance battle, put into perspective he comes of as rather paranoid. But there's no conversation worth having where a single perspective (as flawed as it may be) informs your entire worldview and you can just be dismissed as either too stupid or a bad person.

You can’t argue against the fact that hollywood will force in certain types of ”woke” subjects, that can be considered woke atleast. And a film will often get more praise from hollywood if they do.
At least the lack of Sonic game songs (especially any liscensed vocal ones from the games) problem won't be continuing in the third Sonic movie because it got confirmed directly from the Crush 40 lead singer/songwriter (Johnny Gioeli) that he'd signed a deal for Paramount to legally get the rights to the iconic SA2 theme song "Live & Learn" which has been the one that almost every fan was demanding for the Sonic 3 movie to have in it, and that an orchestrational version of that song's music played at the end part of the February 2 title reveal trailer and twice in the August 27 first full-length trailer. So at least Paramount understands how VITAL that song is to the upcoming Sonic 3 movie, instead of them not trying to include it.

Hmm, I think SilasOS is trying to say that he doesn't like the fact that the wedding scene focused more on humans in general than on Sonic. Not to mention that Hollywood has a trend of "woke culture" where inclusion is needed in every film no matter the source material just to push an agenda. *However,* what he got *WRONG* is that just because there was diversity doesn't mean that it's woke. It was likely implemented as a small plot point to set up the G.U.N. Agents for future appearances and just so happened to have a diverse cast.
His criticisms aren't as out of pocket as I think everyone believes them to be. When he talks about the movies, what I think he's getting at is that he didn't want the movies to be so human-centered. Instead of a "Sonic and Humans Movie", he wanted a Sonic movie with a side of humans. But because it was a Sonic and Humans Movie, he's saying that the writers were forced to go with some woke agenda because most Twit-tards can't stand the idea of a film with mostly white people in it (like the majority of the Sonic human cast). I believe this to be false, however.
Sonic is known for being the guy who runs around, saving people, enjoying the scenery, and living life his own way with the wind blowing on his face. He was never one who needed to be accepted by others. He does things because he wants to and he needs no other reason. Even when we go back to old school Sonic, he starts his journey by himself, stopping Eggman from doing what he pleases because that'd interfere with the world he loves. People flocked behind him because they liked the person he was. And I believe that is Sonic is his truest form. In the movies, we see a completely different Sonic. One that had grown lonely from his years of isolation, imagining himself living with other humans as if he were a normal human himself. It was only by the end of it that Sonic was satisfied because he had finally started living with the people he cherished the most.
Even in Sonic X, where we see the most interaction with humans that we've ever seen in Sonic media, Sonic doesn't require himself to latch onto others for happiness. He does what he wants, goes where he wants, and relaxes when he wants. He helps people because he thinks it'd be the right thing to do. He saves the day because that would cause harm to the people around him and interfere with his lifestyle. It had gotten to the point where beating Eggman became a part of his lifestyle. I believe this is the best way to include Sonic in a world of humans, not making him a young man longing for affection while being too afraid to show himself. I also believe that's his critique with the Sonic movies being a "Hollywood family movie with Sonic in it."

I was agreeing a BILLION PERCENT with everything he said JUST NOT THE DIVERSITY THING DANG IT. Sonic movie should’ve taken more inspiration from the games, be more accurate to sonic’s real character, and SHOULD have sonic music IN THE MOVIE, and superstars was kinda disappointing as a mania sequel, and their track record for deadlines have been sloppy BUT DIVERSITY ISNT AN ISSUEEEE.
I think the thing he was really trying to hammer in was how unnecessary the human characters were but in trying to sound smart he just said something REALLY dumb. (Also we have two gay couples in the sonic comics rn but he didnt say anything about that so im 90% sure he doesnt know what he was saying or just perfers animal characters over human characters which makes sense they fit in better)

The IDW comics put me off with its gay content by how inappropriate it is for kids and the scars I got from reading Genesis 19 and imageing that broken society of horrors.

It goes to show that both sides participate in their own form of cancel culture. The right will boycott anything that seems woke (ex: budweiser, target, disney) and fear monger, and the left has cultural appropriation and their own slanders in form the calling anyone a misogynist, racist, or homophobe even when that's not the case. I still grieve over what happened to Aunt Jemima. Both sides need a boogie man in order to further their own agenda and ideal world. In the end, mob mentality infects both sides because people aren't responsible enough to resist the call to tribalism.
Yeah, that's way too broad of stroke here. The two also aren't the same. You compared brands and social injustice to a group of people, as "both sides participate in their own form of cancel culture". We as black people experience this regardless of right or left.
Most black people didn't even care about Aunt Jemima because it didn't affect our lives. We have way too much to worry about in general. There may be some that participate, but I guarantee we're sitting in are houses mad at the syrup.
All in all is that black people exist in this society and that's it.

I will say one thing, if he didn't mentioned the "diversity characters" and just said less focus on humans in general, I would agree. I want to watch sonic for the sonic characters such as shadow knuckles tails and the others. I dont really care for the humans in the film as a whole. But I get he does also interact with humans. I just hope they do focus more on the sonic chataters. And unpopular opinion Jim kerry is the worst part of the sonic movies. He doesn't play eggman in them he plays himself. Which sucks
