Once you’ve retired, you’ll probably be looking to start a pension income stream with your superannuation savings. But, not many people consider whether or not their pension should be reversionary.
A reversionary pension not only provides estate planning certainty, by giving you greater control over who receives your retirement savings in the event of your death, but can also provide some great tax benefits.
In this video I’m going to show you how a reversionary pension works, the benefits of a reversionary pension, reversionary beneficiary considerations, how to set up a reversionary pension and alternatives to reversionary pensions.

You're welcome, Eddie. Thank you, as always, for your kind comments.
Thanks Chris, great info and well explained. Appreciate it :)
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful!
Thanks heaps Chris. Really well explained and an important considerations. Really appreciate it. An idea for another clip may be on brought forward, limits for couples and singles i.e. $1.9m then growth up to $3m ($6m as a couple). How it works between a individual v's a couple. Timing of locking in transfer cap limit i.e. at a time investments dip (May can be a low month in stock values)
Thanks Chris, it's really helpful. How if the beneficiary has not reached the retirement age of 67? Will the reversionary pension stream be tax free?
Hi Chris, Thank you so much. My wife is my Reversionary Beneficiary.... If I pass and she has her Super still in the Accumulation phase, can she covert her Super to Pension phase AFTER to ADD to my Reversionary amount which she gets automatically?
It will depend on the balances or each . It may also be more beneficial for her to commence a second pension, instead. Probably best for her to get advice at that time ,should such a tragic event occur.
Can you nominate two people for a reversionary pension, or just one?
Just one is allowed.
how about the pros and cons of selling the investment property or keeping it to live off the rent in retirement?
