I had never bothered listening to the Divertimenti until I happened to hear K.287 with its astonishing 15-minute Adagio. Never underestimate Mozart.

At the risk of sounding monotonous, I cannot say enough about the genius of WAM.

Several reasons for the dubious nature of this tafelmusik, proving how Mozart is perhaps the easiest composer to replicate, but it is nevertheless beautiful.

K 289/271g comes down to us only via parts and score copies, all dating from the second half of the 19th century and attributed to Mozart, but no autograph is known. Based on its structure, however, it is highly unlikely that it was actually composed by Mozart: the decidedly obsolete writing seen from the many consecutive fifths and octaves, sometimes involving even the outer parts, the constant motion in parallel thirds and comparative lack of fantasy in the use of the horns, speaks against the authenticity of the piece.[4] The NMA presents it as a work of dubious authenticity, and, most likely for this reason, it is generally not included in performances or recordings of the set of five.

this divertimento is absolutely a forgy, otherwise i think it was maybe written to be intentionally monotonous by Mozart.
anyway, it is too boring and ....interesting
