Miss the Maasdam! What a wonderful time it was onboard this ship in the Caribbean, magical it was at night in that big dark ocean and pulling up to different islands in the light of day, with friends who are no longer here but in pictures and my heart. Thank you Holland America, please build another.❤❤
I have to admit I prefer the old Holland America Line livery to the current one, I think the old one had brighter colors I like the hull painted gray or black with a yellow line with the smokestacks painted yellow with two green lines and a white line in the middle. Great video
Many HAL ships came from... Belfast, that hometown of the Titanic. Including their first 'Nieuw Amsterdam', that single-stack fourmaster. The famous 'Justitia' also came from Belfast! ♍
You know, there was one Statendam that was NEVER put to service for HAL (NASM). She was a smaller copy of the 'Olympic' type with only ca. 33.000 tons gross and a similar propulsion plant (piston engines and steam turbine). She was sunk in 1918 as the British 'Justitia'.
I decided to leave the company for certain reason.....mostly caused by un-healthy environmental career's competitions, we are the old timer crew must give up and let it go the opportunity to have career promotion to the Newbie who hired later by the company because of their high qualification with "spectacular" Certification from reputable institutes, but not much people having to known ....that amongst them also having Fake Certificates not even been working in a 5 star Hotelier ....but what past is past...

So wonderful. You left out 2 of my faves. Veendam and Volendam 2, from 1973. But a fantastic video.
