As a Blender user I'm offended.... 😁 kiding, great interview and great to see someone giving an honest interview like that :)
This is the most real interview about the animation industry .
no persona. brutal honesty about the push and pull of family life and developing boundaries. Themes are global across creative industries. super refreshing. thank you.
His voice is so soothing , loved it.
Like this comment for Marco ASMR 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is such a cool interview! Marco is so knowledgeable and down to earth.
What a great interview Marco, you were so right on everything.
I'm loving this interview and the guy, now I wanna work at agora just to work with him
Interesting talk! Dad and Bluey fan here too! My daughter is watching this show almost on a daily basis XD
Same! Dad and Bluey fan here too. My daughter also watches Peppa pig. I think it's good too.
Interesting! Cool to see some of our Mokko work in there :)
What a wonderful interview:) I can relate to so much of this. Thanks for putting this out.
I feel like Sonics face was a real setback but worth it in the end. Maybe it would affect immediate sales as much, but people definitely wouldnt have been willing to watch the sequels. There are some opinions that dont need to be listened to but the desing for that specifically was just quite bad and would definitely affect long-term enjoyment from fans. Especially adapting a game with a fanatical fanbase or with an iconic mascot, retaining a well recieved design for that mascot can almost be as important as the movie itself. Yoy can make a bad movie with a good looking sonic and people will come back to it, but a good movie with a bad looking sonic will be endlessly criticised and possibly even shoot down any chances of planned sequels.
Agreed. As hard as it is to credit "toxic fandoms", this one actually came through 😂. I personally wouldn't have bought a ticket for Sonic the Mutant Marsupial. The thing that made me care was seeing them put him more on-model (and Jim Carrey). It thematically ended the "embarrassed with the IP we chose to adapt" stigma, and likely led to the Mario Movie being as faithful as it was. And yeah, the 2 Sonic sequels were likely a result of restored good will.
Condolences to the workers though. They got a note from fans that they should've gotten from leadership, early in. They proably saw the issue clear as day, but were outranked. A bad position, for sure.
Love the mention of cgtalk aka cgsociety. The mention of softimage brings back fond memories
What a wonderful interview 👏👏 Love this❤🔥
Fun interview. Hope you're feeling better, Marco ;)
As a reminder, Canada was that "other" market that sucked a ton of vfx/animation work out of the US, which was a contributing factor that prevented the US vfx market from unionizing. The animation guild exists only because it was founded in the fifties, when the talent was concentrated in one place and the studios had no options.
I like the Q of how hard is to stay in the industry especially when it colapses or all businessess nearby has closed doors.
damnnn
does anyone know any resources for good mocap footage? I know about mixamo but would like to know more
Other platforms are pay to use sadly
I am trying very hard to ignore the lighting...
I know nothing….
Why unionize?
Seems like you’d create more problems down the road… why not just use your experience and connections, gather a bunch of ppl and make your own studio
And make your own dinosaur movie , sell it to Netflix or Amazon etc…
Why don’t oh get a Bonus when movies make a certain amount of money….
Do we know the full picture there ?
They spend 500mil on a movie, does that include marketing?
Let’s say it does….
You already got paid… you get what you negotiate, your bosses aren’t looking for bonuses for you… This is supposedly a “ free market”
Again… just thoughts from the uneducated
nice interview, but why swear so much!!
He would be such a cool dude to work for
