I think what makes their performance quite bad is because they don't have solid vocals to begin with and they added a very demanding choreography on top of it.. If they have Beyonce level vocals that's when they could add those demanding choreography... They should have stick to the vocal training before they add those fancy choreo..
thats wht im saying after watching so many of their encores u can tell they arent vocally strong so instead of giving better vocal training they are givin g them such difficult choreo like HYBE is doing the same with ILLIT their vocals arent also that good
True, it’s obvious that these girls aren’t very secure in their vocal abilities even without the dancing. So for them to have an even higher demanding choreo, doesn’t solve any problem for them. The company should start focusing on making these girls be more confident in their vocal abilities first.
Indeed. They are singers, not dancers. So, they should tone down their choreo and focus more on singing. They should've put it on their priority list. Their performance is not that disastrous but it is bad. Hybe should really invest on their vocal lessons. It is not just Le Sserafim who we're criticized and trended on wrong way bcoz of their vocals. It is already numerous Hybe groups.
That one! It kinda became an industry wide problem as the generations continued. It’s completely normal to not sing stable while crawling bending backwards doing backflips and all that jazz, but even without that they just decent singers not extremely bad, but also not as good as we are used to from earlier generations. People used to eat Taemin alive for his lacking vocally and I’m convinced that nowadays he can’t easily keep up with the newer idols even outsing many of them. It’s just that vocal lessons don’t seem to be that important anymore. It makes sense with the shift in the industry but what we have then are idols straining their vocals, not having fully control over their singing and hurting themselves constantly. This performance just shows the bigger problem we have on hand and they shouldn’t get dragged like that. It’s something we see a lot with later 4th gen and 5th groups but especially in HYBE girl groups. New Jeans gets the same flag and even ILLIT they not even a month old and people are bashing them for that
HYBE is just a factory that keeps cloning out new versions of New Jeans at this point, they don’t care about the artists and what actually suits their voices and their skill level… 🫠
They fucked up by not adjusting the performance routine. It’s just plain dumb to go to a LIVE singing festival with the usual choreo intensive routine. Look at JHope in Lolla, he’s a great dancer but picked and chose when he would dance and go hard. Ended up being an iconic performance.
Newjeans did the same at Lolla and it worked really well - I’m surprised they didn’t adjust the songs properly for the festival setting especially since they have a lot of intense choreography.
I disagree, Ateez were able to sing and dance and they performed fine, same with txt in Lolla. So I don’t think the problem is just the dancing being hard, I think they sadly just don’t have consistency when it comes to there live vocals.
@@Mitchis_Euphoria i agree, i havent seen ateez or txt performance but i havent seen any bad commets so i assume it was good.... But what i do know is that bts has sang Dionysus, IDOL and other songs with hard choreos and have done a good Job so i dont understand wha hybe is not training LS to do good. BTS? they were trained and they modify stuff when need it and NJ also modified stuff... so why cant LS? And idk if i can even blame source bc common... they had GFriend, i ws not a fan but they were good
@@Dream-kp7bf I would say using BTS as a compare is tough. Their medleys in concert go 4 songs straight of hard high energy songs. But even then they only pick and choose spots that they do hard choreo. Gfriend never performed at a festival. I haven’t seen ateez perform but if they did good I would think they chose strategically when to dance and when to sing. Like look at JKs Times Square performance, he was awesome but totally dying after each song. He smartly placed a slow song after each fast one. You gotta be smart about this. Doing the same choreo doing back arches and crawling on the floor while supposedly singing at a festival doesn’t even fit the atmosphere. They want vocals. It’s not MNET.
If you do not have that great vocal yes don't do a performance like a dance Crew. But the reality is dancing didn't translate to a good performance cuz the reality is vocal is the most important in everything! You don't have to break the bones to have a great performance.😅
What’s crazy to me is if you compare them to Ateez who had choreo that was more difficult and were running all over the stage. The vocals were still stable. The performance aspect overall was phenomenal. So I have to wonder what’s going on at Hype that these girls weren’t prepared enough. And I hate to see people giving them excuses. “Oh they were tired”, “oh the wind and dust.” BlackPink didn’t have those issues. Aespa didn’t have those issues. Even tho I’d say Aespa was placed on the Coachella stage too early in their career. Either way, I hope this provides a wake up call for the girls and the company.
They can't compare because Ateez actually had Backtracks and back vocals for all the singers even some times for the rapers and that's fine and smart, because they would sound exactly like this without them, but they actually do smarter, they sound good because they know how to play with the back vocals, it's not a real live, like le sserafim but it's effective. And I'm not saying that they can't sing or nothing like that they can and really good, but with that choreos they need to have that live recording moments, because it's imposible in any other way.
@sicatsz yes, he sings espectacular, but when he sings high notes he is not dancing for a reason, and even in that he has backing vocals, if you heard with attention you could notice that, and for the other members there are times that even don't sings certain phrases in the Coachella live, but it's because they're dancing, and that's reasonable for everything that i say previously.
@@camiloeduardchubrown8156they have backtracks, but they were singing live and ppl who have ears can easily point that out. They know when to go all out in dancing and when to kinda lie low to focus on singing. But u really cannot compare cuz ateez has been singing live since they were rookies and they are literally the sons of immortal songs which only allowed live stages. They were practicing their vocals for their whole carreer, not only dance and performance, unlike what most of 4th gen kpop are doing rn.

And how old is mamamoo? Look I don’t doubt they were just as good when they debuted and I’m not familiar with their music completely however I do know lesserafim and like it is said in this video they are great performers and singers. They are not the best since they are more performance based. Just look at Sakura she has 10 years of being an idol and yes she is lacking in the vocal performance however she is good at saeling an image. An idol, is much more than just a good singer. I’m sure mamamoo is both good performers and singers but that is an exception to the rule. Just look at ATEEZ they also performed and their stage was t even critiqued as much as lesserafim.

I feel like this group also has no "i recently debuted" excuse. How long have they been on already? Like almost 3 years. And I think even at debut, you need to have a cretain skill level to debut ( which is also fkd now in kpop ). Look at Ateez's mama 2019 performance, they were a one year old rookie group and that performance was live as fk and stable. Jongho was even singing a song in female key and didnt miss a note. And there are more examples of actually good live groups. Svt, mamamoo, gidle, bts. This group and many others really have no excuse to suck. I am sorry for the bad words, but really in the nicest way possible I hope the standards goes higher.

Come out of your big 3 bubble, there are many artists from smaller labels who can sing & dance at the same time. Prime example is ATEEZ, nobody touch them when it comes to live performances, dance, singing, facial expressions, stage presence, they're a power pack combo.

agree!! the agency is so messed up, how can they give a hard choreo for the girls if they can't even keep up with the vocals. they need to practice harder for the vocals or give them simpler choreo so they can be more stable in singing live.
nah the girls are at fault, how is hybes fault that they cant sing, the so called opera singer couldnt hit a singke note and lets not forget the iconic "vICtOry"
@kkurakisseverybody bro shut up voices on kpop are very different and yunjin voice is the most avg kpop voice she was literally struggling thru the whole performance, even sakura was more stable then her,
They did some rushed vocal lessons prior to coachella but you can not suddenly make people improve their breathing and singing technique cause they're not talented geniuses who improve leaps and bounds in just a short time. I don't know how they handle their breaks, maybe they just chill instead of making efforts to improve their singing. I do know Sakura has improved a bit but she's into crocheting more than singing, or she already hit her limits in her vocal talents.
Exo jumped around, danced, ran across the stage, even danced in water and still sounded great. Ateez’s Coachella performance was so good. They danced hard with the wind hitting them and out of breath and their vocals were still good. If you’re going to perform at one of the biggest music festivals you better be really good. You’re not only performing for your fans but for people who enjoy music. Rosie from Black Pink crawled on the floor between the members legs and vocals were still great. Beyoncé dances and runs around and still perfection

@@KpopNiDontStop The best thing they said was about backtracks. Thats why performances vs encores differ vastly. Its too unrealistic to be dancing and singing at the same time.
They did much better week end 2. But what you see or heard online is really true that Week end 1 about their vocals was super unstable and their voice cracked on quite a few part. So its really true they struggled 100% on weekend 1. If you watch and compare you will know. Week end 2 was fire for sure though. They took all that hate and criticism on their vocals for week 1 and stepped up for weekend 2 . Their choreography intensively is a lot less energetic compare to week 1 probably most likely to focus more on their vocals. They was super crazy and energetic on week end 1 and that might cause them to be unstable. If you want to watch the HD quality, You can still watch it on coachella youtube channel sahara stage just rewind it back until sunday mid night its all gone. I really think cause its their first coachella they gone a bit over the top on their dancing so it backfired on their vocals on weekend 1 haha
13:11 ur standards are impossible. Coachella is for performing and hyping up the crowd which they did. People who ACTUALLY WENT enjoyed the performance and never said a bad thing about their performance too. Le sserafim is mainly a performance group 13:19
For the standards you mentioned, I feel like they're totally realistic because all we want is stable live VOCALS. They could literally cut their choreo in half and no one would care as long as they sound half decent. They're SINGERS for God's sake! We've seen this being done in previous generations with Shinee, 2NE1, TVXQ, EXO, Seventeen, & Mamamoo, so why exactly shouldn't we expect the same live experience from newer groups? Hoping to get your money's worth in a concert and not have your ears bleed and face cringe shouldn't be unrealistic for concrt-goers, especially since these idols supposedly "train" for years to perfect the art of singing and dancing at the same time. There are so many groups who sing while running to become more stable so I don't see why these groups should get a pass for slacking. Other groups are working just as hard if not harder. Anyways, those were my two cents, don't be too bothered by it
Hate to break it to you, but the kpop industry prioritizes catchy songs, choreos, visuals, fits, and fan service. We are seeing more hope with NMixx(greatest girl group past or present when performing live sing and dancing stably), KOL, ZB1, VVUP, UNIS, Triple S, StayC, etc. so that’s a good sign. Previous generations had much less groups and you don’t see the bad ones that couldn’t sing since there were fewer popular ones like Shinee and TvXQ who could perform live stably. The reality is those older gens had terrible groups that people didn’t pay attention to. Older gens might have performed more lives with little back tracks, but there were also many bad live performances too along with bad groups in non big 3
@@inquisitvem6723 bad groups didn't survive in gen 1 and gen 2, only the top groups get recognized. that's what you call quality management which is apparently inexistent in today's kpop fandoms.
@@lululittlebox like i said, there were many bad groups in early gens whether they were weeded out is irrelevant. Point was early Gen was no better. Also, even if a group had vocal talent like KISS & CRY , they couldn’t tackle what the big 3 had which was $ and leverage on music shows. It was hard for any non big 3 group to survive even if they were talented. BTS fortunately found another way. BTS had experienced it first hand being discriminated on music and variety shows to promote themselves and took the bold move of using any avenue social media as much as they could to get their name out there. It turned out to be a shrewd move that changed the industry which is how all groups use these days with their own vlogs and doing skits writhing their company. They broke the mold of control by big 3. Even to this day, you don’t see BTS on many variety shows out there because they do mostly in house. What they did was show proof that you didn’t need big 3 money to promote. Nowdays the money is too good to pass up, so companies crank out groups left and right. Still, it’s always never been vocals as #1 priority as a whole.
We all know that no performance is perfect but there is a certain expectation and standard to be met especially at COACHELLA. Just take a look at Blackpink’s Coachella performance. They managed to dance and sing at the same time and people LOVED it so much with all the stage presence they are giving. They are the GOLD standard.
@@dangzitspro Edit: Sorry for the word vomit lol Objectively speaking, yes they were able to perform while singing and dancing, but the only groups I can think of that blackpink was better than is Aespa & Le Sserafim. The likes of Ateez, 2NE1, The Rose, Epik High and other K-soloists gave a better performance in my opinion. Just being able to hit the notes 70% of the time does not make someone "The GOLD" standard. For instance, if u look at the kpop acts in the industry rn, u'd be able to realize just how high the standard some groups have set in terms of vocals, stage presence, and choreography as well as performances. My vocal trinity consists of EXO, MAMAMOO, and BTOB, where all the members, at the least, are proficient vocalists and have an understanding of technique (meaning they can hold a note for more than 5 seconds), which is more than what some of the newer groups' main vocalists can do. Seventeen, Mamamoo, Got7 and MonstaX along with NMixx, 2PM, TVXQ and SNSD are all beasts on stage. If u ever saw them perform, u'd realize just how limited ur idea of a good performance is. Plus, Blackpink has never really stood out among their peers when performing at festivals where other idol groups were present as well, and only go viral for shows where they were either the only K-act performing or among K-indie artists, which prevents the audience from making any type of comparisons and an overall better opinion of them (not saying they aren't good, but they're not all what their fans hype them to be - I've seen WAY better in kpop)
K-pop stans confuse me. On one hand you have people defending terrible encores where they’re standing still and on the other ones lose their minds when the vocals aren’t there during a performance that’s completely live. I was honestly expecting this to be a whole lot worse, at least the energy was there. And I think you’re right, fans are so used to convincing themselves that lip syncing is a live vocal that this is a shock to the system
Pop and choreos aren't for live ??? I've watched BLACKPINK and aespa and they served...aespa really needs to be appreciated they're just 1 yr & 4 months that time despite being nervous their vocals are soo good.
Right, the hate aespa got for their coachelle performance was absolutely overblown and undeserved. Stable and strong vocals and it was their first performance in front of a live crowd. They were clearly not very comfortable yet but their live execution was good. Aespa's strength is def their vocals and technical skills rather than stage presence and hype, but they can still crush their own songs and they did grow in that area a lot since. As a disclaimer, Im not particularly a fan of BP but I def think that BP has notably better stage presence than aespa, however that doesnt make aespa's performance a bad one. And BP themselves can also crush their own songs live, which is what is setting these groups apart from LSF imo.
@@geniusss4 did you even read their post? No one said BP didnt sing. Even LSF sang the first weekend. But opening your mouth and producing a sound doesnt necessarily make you a good singer. (to clarify, I am NOT saying BP are bad singers at all. Just pointing out how youre saying nothing new)
they had everything going for them, their energy, charm and presence was through the roof, they really looked like they were having fun and the band was the cherry on top. However, I think it would be much better if the choreography was simplified for this stage especially because there was little backtrack for them and they couldn't rely on it to regulate their own breathing...

We all have been saying Hybe doesn’t focus on their vocals they don’t do well even in the encores.
That's why Blackpink did a special simplified choreo for the performances. YG managers were always the best in terms of live performance. Why such a huge company as Hybe can't understand the simple things 🤔
I don't think it's about simple or hard Choreo . Lsf can't sing properly while even standing . I have seen those encores .......As for Blackpink.....no doubt that they r Really good stage commanders and performers . Even while Dancing their vocals are really stable .

I agree with the fact that the bar is especially high for Coachella but…. that’s because the other groups that came before set that bar. Blackpink came in and absolutely killed it. Ateez dominated it. 2NE1 literally brought it and set it on fire 🔥 And Ik there were mixed opinions on Aespa but regardless of personal opinions if they were ready or not Aespa still danced AND sung beautifully simultaneously. The fact is Le Ssarifim seems to have been the only one having this hard of a time with doing both. The bar was set high because the artist before them have gone above and beyond expectations. I don’t thinks it’s exactly logical to blame “ the bar” as you put it when only one group hasn’t been able to even hit close to the expectation.
That’s why I think yg and sm have the best singers. This is why their training is so hard especially yg. Look at Baby monster, they can absolutely sing, and yg made sure of that with their monthly evaluations. Even JYP is hard on his vocalists, it might come out as mean but this is what he’s trying to avoid. Also the fact that hybe choreos are not the easiest doesn’t help them catch a breath. ATP most K-pop companies are just debuting dancers and idols who have the looks not actual singers, which is what the music is actually about.
Everyone always says hybe has bad vocals when singing live. Hybe is not just one company, but there is an agency within it. Not all the artists/idols there sing badly, maybe I think their girl groups are the ones who lack vocals. But I really don't think it was the dumpster fire that everyone is saying it was- I really enjoyed it overall!
I totally agree. They are beasts performing live on stage. Their performance at AAA awards show and their live performance in Wish bus 107.5 radio attests to their vocals…
and they are POP even BINI is POP it's just the yare more working harder than these people who have silver spoon on their mouths because they have BIG AGENCY backing them up
I think the hate really stemmed from the encores at music shows in Korea. That started it all. Then suddenly they went to Coachella where they need to sing live and dance and the standards for the performers are different from Korea. Wale and Efra was right with stating it was the management's fault for not preparing the girls' set better with adjusting the choreo, when not to dance and just sing. So sad for the hate they are getting when it's ultimately the management's fault.
I see where your coming from but aespa, atteez, blackpink as kpop groups who also performed at coschella they all did so well with live vocals and dancing and being stable.
People who defend them saying that they were doing so much and it was difficult to sing etc. Ateez did a lot too and somehow performed vocally way better. That means the girls were not prepared vocally for coachella and/or just lacked vocal performance.
i agree with you on this. but, we also have to keep in mind that the girls have only been a group for 2 years. Ateez has been a group since 2018, of course they're gonna perform better, that's a given.
@@vaehvebut sakura and chaewon also first debuted in 2018. And i sakura case even longer. Plus, Yunjin was in produce 48 which started before ateez debut. Only Kazuha and Eunchae didnt have experience, but at the same time, to be an idol, you need to go through a training period. So they should be ready the moment they debut. And even then, they have the easiest part of their songs. So really, no excuse here.
@KingKikikoi ateez vocal is only stable when they're standing still Like jongho have to stand still to hit his note Le Sserafim are literally jumping non stop so its mostly the choreo problem
I have always loved LE SSERAFIM and I love them still but it’s just a shame that they’re not able to keep up vocally. In terms of stage presence, they’ve got it in the bag. They should’ve gone to Coachella further in their career when the vocals have been more practiced and improved. It was too soon, vocally but performance wise they were ready (stage presence, choreo etc.)
@@chady1229 that’s literally what I said: they were ready performance wise, just not vocally. And it wasn’t as disastrous as people made it out to be but it wasn’t at the level it should’ve been
Thank you for expressing the realistic nature of live performances (especially at an outdoor festival) and the unrealistic expectations music shows and other heavily produced video content have caused. The girls did incredible and are undoubtedly talented. They will improve accordingly as they do more live performances, like many other groups have done before them.
@@FlorenceDoit000 As a fan following from the beginning, I could see how hard they worked and they put on a great performance for the crowd. Was it perfect? No. But people are greatly exaggerating saying it was terrible. Anyone can see they performed their butts off and had a lot of fun. You and others don’t have to be so hateful about it.
lol only low level and expendable employees in the real world gets a pass like this. Nevermind doctors or pilots, even plumbers can't afford to fk up this much on their jobs. But it's not the idols fault that their HYBE served underprepared and undercooked meals. They chose to be the McDonald's of the industry to make as much money as possible so here we are.
@@yukikteez8036 They are no less deserving than others and Coachella specially invited them. This group is less than 2 years old and this is their first major festival, performing for 40 minutes straight with a 2 minute break. Give them some grace. The adrenaline alone must have been so overwhelming. Haters really wanna nitpick everything to lift up their fave, saying it was a horrible set when it wasn’t. No one improves overnight and I’ve been watching the kpop industry for so long to know it takes time for groups to hone their live performances. They did a great job for weekend 1 and they will surely take valid critiques into account for weekend 2.
You two are so completely sensible and realistic in your approach to this issue. Thank you for seeing both the positives and the negatives, as well as what could be expected onstage and what could never happen. The band was fantastic. The dancing was well done and some of the vocals were memorable. I think there were nerves at the beginning (Antifragile) but they worked through them alright and then it was just about endurance as they supported each other through the performance. I am looking forward to seeing Ateez this next weekend as I couldn’t see them Friday. Aside from a more staggered choreography that helps the performers deal with strong parts, Ateez is also 8 members vs. 5. That means more spread in line distribution and those extra seconds can mean a lot in regaining one’s composure. I would also say that I felt there were technical glitches song to song as the soundboard didn’t seem to activate microphones back to the same levels throughout the performance. This was probably not helped as they switched from handheld to headset partway through the performance but that seemed to be planned. With all that being said, and with all the complaints and finger pointing online, every comment I have seen from those who attended in person was that they put on a great show and the crowd was engaged. I think they can only do better this next weekend and should be able to walk away from Coachella with their heads held high. ❤ Thanks for a great reaction & evaluation
hybe needs to stop making songs for virality and actually make songs that their artist can sign. I think this also come from acquiring demos and releasing them instead of them making their owns songs. Like their songs are not in their range at all. They should have adjusted their choreos and I feel like their band should have pulled back at times and vice versa, sometimes it was too overpowering or underwhelming. It’s also unfortunate that people thinks it’s okay for artists to to not be able to deliver vocally, in my opinion singing should always the number one priority and dancing second. It unfortunate that certain companies think otherwise.
You will not wish to say that they are just impossible to dance and sing to hard choreos after watching TREASURE, BM, AESPA etc. They are also 4th and 5th gen but slays. I don't wanna compare to be honest. no hate but they train well in every aspect. Do you think someone can sing and dance all of a sudden. It takes time and effort but in Le serrafim's case, I don't think they have a good understanding of what practice and learning can do. Their instructors might be spoon feeding them just to hit the point and that's not gonna work. The band was set loud in order not to make a huge deal on their vocals but it is really visible that they did not do well. Their vocals were not only unstable in smart but also in other songs every single time and the adlibs were the worst of all. But, i do appreciate the effort.
Completely agree with your point about unrealistic expectations in kpop- doing physically demanding/jumpy choreo will make vocals suffer because physics. And if the idols don't dance as well, they're "lazy" all of a sudden. Aka they just can't win. The only way this is going to get better is if the industry changes.
i think hybe or especially sourcemusic should consider again about the realistic choreo. they still can have a good stage presence without running out of breath 💗 love the girls
What I saw in tiktok, and I think is also the reason for the criticism, they didn’t sing well even without dancing. But I also think is HYBE’s fault, they are focusing too much in the coreography and they forget all of the other aspects. Also the thing is that Illit didn’t do well in singing live, so that made it worse. Plus Babymonster did really well singing so they are comparing all of them. Really liked your review. I think is easy to hate but explaining like you did is what matters.
Not HYBEs fault dmbarse lol...how is it the agencys fault that the girls dont work hard? Its up to lessarfim to train and practice their vocals. Look at Bp, lazy work ethic and their lazy performances and poor lives were shown on their stages
@@TheShadowsFearX tru... leaving on stage in the middle of the performances is very unprofessional too. they are seniors they should set good example to rookies
Ateez showed how it’s done at Coachella. There’s actually groups that can dance hard choreography and still be stable live. Even after an hour. It is very possible, not everyone can be talented and work hard enough to achieve it though. My standards are high thanks to Ateez and Dreamcatcher. It can be done so I think what you’re saying is just an excuse tbh
totally agree with this is more of a company problem. specially their music producers too. The way they made some of their songs made it sound to not be sung live. I was watching that Perfect Night part and boy, I realized it's not meant to be performed live. I wish HYBE stop making these kind of music with too much vocal adjustments
Agree, I like both lsrf and ive and I think Starship, a medium-sized company, produce better songs that suits their idols better than Hybe, one of the biggest company in SK. Like are LSRF’s producers didn’t take into consideration about the member’s vocal range when they made songs? I mean sakura isn’t the singer of the century but she sounds decent when singing high pitched songs (like the songs Imase produced). I just think hybe needs to hire better producers tbh
@@bobbysworld-z7z good for you. i dont like listening to songs that i cant distinguish which one of the singers are singing or whether if it's a robot or a person who is singing because of the huge amount of vocal adjustments
Easy listening song is good when U have headphones n in car but doesn't suitable on stage..when they trying to change instruments they look like trying to catch breath with live band..
@@blacksheep1069 totally agree. there are songs that are suited for own enjoyment, for headphones, car, phone speaker, and Perfect Night was that song. I didnt enjoy that live Perfect Night they did
I get it when they say the choreo is tough while singing but when I saw their encore from music shows when they're not even dancing, I think they should have a proper voice training.
I would really love to see other girl groups sing LSF songs and dance their choreography at the SAME TIME. Before commenting how “GOOD” others can be. Y’all should not compare them to other girl groups cause they have different way of showing TALENT. Imagine practicing and preparing coachella for how many DAYS, the pressure, them being nervous because its their first time and those hardwork and sleepless nights they must be so tired especially their voices and you all do is talk about them. Look how evil people are just to satisfy their happiness. And they made other lose their confidence. I would rather stand LSF because I believe they can Improve than having to stan a group who are talented but have a so called fans who are so disgusting cyberbully🤮 just to make their idols look good.
I was there. They were real bad. They danced well but their vocals were not good. Out of tune, lack of stability…I think they need more vocal training. Comparing this to BP’s 2019 Sahara performance, there’s a huge gap. You guys are too nice. You should revisit Blackpink’s performance from 2019 under the same conditions. I was also at BP’s 2019 Coachella performance and they killed it which is why BP became more popular in the west and got more followers. 👀
@@Diwwiyat Yes there was a very subtle splitting but their vocals carried through very loudly and were stable. BP was ready for their performance with plenty of training and experiences throughout the years…
YG built BP (and now BM) to tour, HYBE builds girl groups for the studio. YG spends years identifying and then training their idols. HYBE throws together their groups quickly with virtually no training whatsoever. Saturday night's result was a foregone conclusion the moment LSF was announced in Jan. BTW, I have a recording of BP's 2019 performance which I regularly listen to to this day. An example of how to do it right.
2nd gen Kpop groups are pretty great in performing in front of and engaging large crowds. Handheld mics with minimal to no vocal backing were common in the past. YGE groups gets flak for iffy or simplistic choreos, but their perfs still work and translate much better with a large crowd. Seems like it's part of their training.
i know its Far for PPOP for now, But i would want to see a PPOP Group to perform on Coachella~ BINI or SB19? i know Ppop is not that big like Kpop. but i know Ppop Would do Great With Live performance~
@@heavensky8706 yup! You r right. If us Filipino just unite, and appreciate more our local artist. We have the talent and all~ our artist just need more support.
I feel soo bad for them imagine seeing your video somewhere and the comment section filled with how bad you are 😢 we should hype them up and cheer them to become greater❤
Its just that we can't control other people. It must be owerwhelming for them to perform in a new environment. I wish they could find hope in this circumstances and will continue performing while improving themselves.
tbh I don't think the expectations were high, we just wanted the bare minimum,i.e. stable vocals, which kpop groups have been able to accomplish before while singing live while dancing, with no backtrack (eg: ateez, mamamoo, aespa, nct, nmixx, to name a few.) No one expects them to sound like taeyeon or wendy. Two things could've been done here,1)sing with a back track, or 2) tone down the choreo, and neither was done. I'm really not sure what hybe was thinking. They have great songs but they were not ready for Coachella.
We want (G)I-DLE in Coachella! I think they can do well singing live and dancing at the same time 😁 I also think that you'll have a different opinion on this matter when it comes to (G)I-DLE 😎
This is a strong point for YG per example, we saw that with blackpink , they don’t give them hard choreos to do while singing, so they can perform well , and we saw that two years in Coachella they slayed !
Looking at the comments and they totally don't understand the video hdjdjd i agree with all that they say, But the BIG PROBLEM HERE is that they throw le sserafim without ANY back vocal for like the 99% of the show, they could be done that and it would have been fine, like ateez, they have their back track and vocals for the singers and it's good, or for the main vocal he sings when he need, no dance and sing, it's just a completely honest movement from them (HYBE) or just a stupid desicion, because let me tell you 99% of kpop groups sound like this without all the support they have with Backtrack and back vocals
yeah but nobody sings live without a backtrack if ur a kpop group thats not the issue here in kpop u need bavk tracks or else it sounds horrible look at ateez bpink coachella they go hard on choreo in certain sections and ease up in others its a live performing skill to psce urself ur not meant to sing live 100 percent as fans we dont expect it either but in the parts that ur supposed to hit live if ur not doing that thats a skill issue and hybe a training and management issue cuz listen to bpink u could hear they were on the edge while singing but they still hit the notes 85 90 percent perfect throughout the whole set thats good training ssera have horrible training and i think the girls themselves need to try harder cuz standing still in a encore sounding that bad is unacceptable same with illit if ur gonna be a kpop idol u need to put in the work cuz its a tough job with yes unneccesary hate but also valid criticism if ur not performing up to par and hybe is just content with producing lack of talent newjeans is the only successful and talented group to come from there recently really since txt im not hating i understand they might hae had less backtravk and thats a hybe issue they have to have that if theyre gonna keep the same choreo but also in general they dont have a single vocal powerhouse or real talent eunchae was badly trained kazuha wasnt trained at all sakura should be good by now but her japanese training completely ruined her voice from akb or hkt whatever days and their horrible training but still she was in izone and ssera she should have improved like she did her dancing yunjin hasnt sounded good since debut era for some reason she makes no sense she was good but now did she stop training i know exo members for example went and asked for more vocal training years into debut even though theyre vocal kings they still wanna improve chaewon is just badly trained as well plus i feel shes trying to imitate western voices too much and it doesent suit her tone at all hybe doesent give them parts that optimize their voices aswell
@@chady1229 that is debatable, I hope I misunderstood you but you sound like sooo angry for some reason hdjs and, there is no comparison in this live performance with any other, not almost close, and yes they have to be quiet or stay still when they have to sing, but they didn't, they try to sing and dance almost all the time, and when they already want to sing without dancing they had breathing problems, but that's different from being a bad Singer, they can sing, they always have space to be better? yes, nobody deny that, and that's it's part of the growing process, but be a singer it's different from singing and dancing with that type of choreo at the same time, because it's physically impossible, and again it's shocking how the industry brainwashed people thinking that it was "really" bad, because almost 99% have never heard what an artist actually sounds like singing and dancing LIVE, because k-pop has always lied about "live performance" in shows or awards ceremonies and people really think that is a live performance. This is how a person sings and dances these choreos without any backtrack, and that's for any K-pop group there, almost 99% , we share some opinions, but the point of view it's different.
They overestimated lsfm and thought they would answer the critics by singing live without backtracks. It's ridiculous that hybe is so blinded by popularity that they aren't ready to take criticism. I predict that they gonna be the same even after 5yrs of debut
I completely agree that the standards and expectations have gotten unrealistically high. And people are just ready to bring down the sledgehammer on anyone. When I started getting into Le Sserafim, I actually watched mostly the stages. It was until I saw the MAMA and MMA stages that I thought "oh they are a performance group". Because they got that energy and hype factor that would make you feel it, which works a lot with most of their discography. People were feeling it at Coachella; a lot of hype and the girls really hyped the crowd up. What so many ppl seem to forget is that LSFM is only a TWO year group. They're in many ways still rookies and have a long way to go before we can properly put them in the same conversation as....let's just say GFriend or BTS even. I say this with groups like NMIXX, NewJeans, TXT, ATEEZ, and even Babymonster. I do agree that SourceMusic or HYBE (whichever) do have to share the responsibility because it is throwing the girls to the wolves at Coachella; regardless if they actually did get invited or asked Coachella if they could perform. Not to mention, it is a trend of ppl taking the one video of out of breathness or off pitched and dictate THAT moment to the whole career. All it takes is 5 minutes to look for more vids where the vocals was solid and better. Yunjin, Kkura, and Chaewon have other videos where you can hear their live vocals were more better even if slightly produced. I can hear that potential that just needs to be worked on more. The difference is that it was songs that were more softer and slower. And having heard all of their music so far, songs like 'Swan Song', 'Good Parts', and "Sour Grapes' where they dont have to move too much are imo where their vocals shine most. But that's not the main focus for the main tracks which are more on the heavy energy and I guess have a more rap style to them. 'Antifragile' and 'Unforgiven' are songs where theres a more rap-speaking styles with some vocal parts spinkled in, so for me, i don't really expect high grade vocals for them. hell, there's rappers who dont really sound exactly the same live than their studio versions. I really do think it is really unfair to compare groups in many categories. Like for example, would we really compare a group like **(G)I-DLE to a group like f(x)? or compare Jongho's vocals to Jungkook's? I personally try not to do that as much as I can because it would be unfair to both parties, and it would grow into an impossibly high standard where i would expect a "Jongho" or "Jungkook" level vocals from everyone. Which is impossible and such a ridiculous standard to put. There's spots in ATEEZ's performances where I did think that the vocals could've been a bit better than what I already seen from ATEEZ's live stuff. But it was still a solid performance that got the crowd going..... even if the camerawork was complete ass. Which was my worry for LSFM. **In relation to this, I wouldn't consider Sakura, Kazuha, and Shuhua to be the "best" vocalists. However, with Shuhua, she has improved and developed a lot since debut thanks to Soyeon's coaching during recording sessions and possibly off-camera. LSFM as a whole will be no different imo, I think ppl just need to let them cook and practice for the next couple years, and give proper constructive criticism instead of bullying them. They're not going anywhere, and they will learn and improve themselves in time with patience. Overall, calling LSFM's disastrous or a huge mess is another overblown storm that only adds to the already massive hate they get. I rather not see a hiatus or worse case scenario disbandment due to overwhelming negative press happen.
Hi just wanna say that, I don't think being a rookie can be an acceptable excuse. If I'm not mistaken, two members are already experienced in the industry. Sakura started in Japan and then Izone with Chaeyeon(?) but why can't they even do the bare minimum? (to fill the gap for other inexperienced members who never debuted before) (just an example) there's another group who made it to Coachella in 2019 and they aren't even a 3 year-old group but still manage to have a successful performance in all categories (singing, rapping, and dancing) I think with this Le sserafim case, they don't have good basic vocals yet, the ability to perform live. That's it. P. S. I watched the whole performance live and not gonna lie I enjoyed it in some parts. The stage presence and dance is super good of course. There are parts where they sing stable and not :( Well I really do hope all the best for them because I believe they can improve, just need much more time. Edited: One more thing, with that being said, HYBE or SouMu's move is so questionable imo. Why did they debut a group that is still weak in vocals? I mean, I can't think of any reason except for money lol. If we take a look at other rookie groups like Nmixx, Kiss of life, and Babymonster, these groups are able to set the bar so high. It means that their agency didn't rush the trainee process, choose to have quality over quantity. Edited 2: I just remember that there is another rookie group who made it to Coachella in 2022. They don't have a good stage presence yet, yes, but their vocal? Not questionable of course.
@@dearbora In the case for Sakura, I wonder how different that industry is from the Korean industry. because I have seen and heard from many that Japan is more focused on the idol factor which is variety, visuals, and how the people receive them. whereas Korea puts more emphasis on the vocals and dance. There's also the question if Sakura even got vocal training during her time in AKB48. From what I have seen of IZONE (started a month ago), Sakura doesn't seem to get that much in terms of vocals and parts where she could display her voice fully. Produce 48 is a show that I've only seen clips of so I could be wrong and maybe she did get some. but probably not enough. You also have to consider the language barrier; she gets training but how much is 100 percent communicated that she can absorb and use? how much of the coaches is she absorbing fully? even foreign idols who lived years in Korea still have struggles with words and sentences. and it does make a big difference as someone who is often misunderstood or has trouble fully grasping what is being communicated to me. the way I also see it, IZONE And Le Sserafim are completely polar opposites in terms of style and concepts. Yes, Kkura has been around for a while but she has to readapt herself to two different methods and styles than what she used to. and that would mean work environments and how much training she gets from the three eras. what is she used to that she can take advantage of to better herself? what is too difficult for her? AKB and IZONE are pretty similar While I understand the training period has been short, iirc Jimin had 6 months of training before debut in BTS and I don't believe he was much of a singer prior to joining. then we have NewJeans who trained for just 2-3 years. Zuha only had 5 months, and eunchae 1 year. assuming I'm doing the math correctly as I'm cross checking a ton here. And then there's the implication that Yunjin had trained with NewJeans at one point. When you put them side by side, the result is quite different. Which is why I do question what type of training are LSFM getting and how effective is it really, when there are examples of similar situations where the debuting idol actually have a solid ground. I do understand a bit why groups debut quicker than they should since obviously the industry is constantly changing which means interests and concepts are changing. but then I don't think many things from LSFM would have happened at all if they debuted much later. Like yes, the vocals wouldve been improved but would the songs still be the same and would we have gotten exactly the same quality of performances we did end up getting? I go as far as to say, they would have been just like the other groups that are stuck at the middle despite clearly having been trained enough (STAYC, Purple Kiss example). It's a double-edged sword Imo no matter how you put. Chaewon clearly has a good voice, and Yunjin has shown multiple times shes a solid voice too. But they clearly struggle when it comes to the choreos and maintaining their voices. Lsfm and IZONE are entirely different vibes so I Can understand Chaewon not being 100% used to how much more demanding the choreo is from IZONE's typical style it's kinda like pro wrestling in a way. Even the veterans have to readjust themselves for some time to fit the style of a different company. Samoa Joe has had years of experience in Ring of Honor but has mentioned that he would have to retrain himself to fit the WWE style which isn't his style. course he did eventually end up going over there when he reached that point in his career. I still don't think Edge and Christian works in AEW but they're slowly finding their footing. So for Kkura and Chaewon as experienced as they are in idol life, they couldn't easily adjust themselves to the sudden switch up. what works in IZONE, doesn't work in lsfm. what works in Japan, doesn't work in Korea. we know enough of how JYP, SM, and YG trains their idols from both a short term and long term period. but I don't think we really know how Source Music trains their idols and what methods are they using. with lsfm, we see that there's many things that work and don't work.
For Sakura, she didn't even train in Japan. AKB48 idols revealed that they don't train for dance and vocals. They focus on standing out, doing their best to appeal to their audience. It was the reason why they cried while preparing for their theme song in Produce 48. It was hard for them to suddenly feel the pressure in Korea in terms of skills. In IZONE, their producers actually almost gave up with her, lol. She received nothing but criticism. It traumatized her that she was so scared of entering a recording studio. But in Le Sserafim, she wants to challenge herself and conquer that fear. Now, her improvements in the coachella stage are evident, which is why many of her fans are proud. But still, all of them need more vocal training, and I accept that fact. However, I don't think that they did so awfully bad because the crowd still loved them. They even gained more fans (the increase in their social media followers is proof).
Blackpink can sing live and dance. And very highly stage presence. Thats the difference. when you go to big stages like coachella. Stage presence is critical.
I am sorry. This is why I have to, have to, have to appreciate artist like beyonce. Beyonce did a damn hour and a half show at Coachella. Where she dances intensely and had vocal stabiliy right through, so stop making excuses. She has been doing that for 20 years. People need to start taking the art more serious. I petition for beyonce to give kpop some advice. I was utterly disappointed in this performance. Sigh!!!
This is what I’m saying! I totally agree with you. These girls are actually admirable for singing live the entire time🫡. The vocals are not perfect but it is raw and only natural as they’re losing steam while dancing 😊
The thing is we as stans aren’t often that delusional to assume that the vocals gonna sound like the recording, in general but especially while dancing that intensely. It’s as you said humanly impossible so you often have grace for that. That’s why fans of the newer generation don’t care much about live vocals while performances anymore, it’s the trade off you get for these intense dance performances. What happens here is that many didn’t expect them to be perfect, but they even underperformed vocally while the bar was already in hell. With all the love I have for them (they became one of my favorite groups the last couple of years) they seemed to have given up at some point and just gave us speech singing or rough notes. Lesserafim never had a strong vocal line like that and what kinda fuels the comments is that there isn’t much improvement despite being nearly 3 years in the industry. To be fair many idols stay stagnant in their abilities once they debut and if the hate train doesn’t hit them, but it’s a constant critism for them and I think much of the bitterness lies there.
yes like nobody expected them to sound perfect but for them to do even worse I was shocked! I expected them to adjust the chorus and performance to fit the Coachella stage but it’s unfortunate that singing is not held to the importance it should when it comes to certain groups
They should debut as dancers not singers.. they look like reciting a poem.. they sounds like an elementary student.. sometimes child singing is better than them
yeah but a 17 year old should still as well as the rest be able to take criticism not hate ofc but actual critique and realize that hybe needs to quit producing visuyally appealing idols who only focus on dance and do it like jyp yg where theyre all rounders baemon do everything and are balanced nmixx as well. hybe hasnt produced really talented idols since newjeans and other than them u have to go to txt
Nothing to do with hybe dmbarse😂its the girls responsibility to work hard and practice vocals....look at bp. Bp have lazy work ethic and it showed on stage....jisoo and jennie the prime examples
Problem with HYBE GGs they need vocal training - LSF, ILLIT and NewJeans. There I said it
I agree.
Hybe is deaf man
Yeah I think the girl groups do but the boy groups are really good with vocals
More like they need better balanced choreos that don't cause them to go out of breath when singing.
Newjeans have decent vocals
@@camiloeduardchubrown8156did you hear jongho? come on.

I feel like this group also has no "i recently debuted" excuse. How long have they been on already? Like almost 3 years. Look at Ateez's mama 2019 performance, they were a one year old rookie group and that performance was live as fk and stable. Jongho was even singing a song in female key and didnt miss a note.

If you want to watch the HD quality, You can still watch it on coachella youtube channel sahara stage just rewind it back until sunday mid night its all gone.

Objectively speaking, yes they were able to perform while singing and dancing, but the only groups I can think of that blackpink was better than is Aespa & Le Sserafim.

They had an intense choreo but they sang the song live so well. NMIXX also had a hard choreo but they can sing live. stop normalized this. idols have to sing is a bare minimum skill they should have.
Was SNSD crawling on the ground or doing back bends while singing ITNW? Because i don’t remember them doing that 🤔

No.....bc it gives fans the excuse that they were dancing, thats why their vocals weren't good....lmao. Like the girls weren't criticized a month ago for their music show encore where they were just STANDING there. They can't sing, dancing or not.
Hype without BTS are just NOTHING
Everyone always says hybe has bad vocals when singing live. Hybe is not just one company, but there is an agency within it.
Not all the artists/idols there sing badly, maybe I think their girl groups are the ones who lack vocals. Just complain to their agency Soumu, Ador, and Belift, don't let all the artists in the hype get involved. They are one company but their agency system is different and the way they manage their artists is also different.

So sad for the hate they are getting when it's ultimately the management's fault.
but they still found it hard to sing "Easy" in an encore (while standing mind you) so it's definitely a skill issue
Can we Got ateez Coachella too
I see where your coming from but aespa, atteez, blackpink as kpop groups who also performed at coschella they all did so well with live vocals and dancing and being stable.
People who defend them saying that they were doing so much and it was difficult to sing etc. Ateez did a lot too and somehow performed vocally way better. That means the girls were not prepared vocally for coachella and/or just lacked vocal performance.
Exactly and because their bad singing got soo much attention so no one's talking about ateez

I have always loved LE SSERAFIM and I love them still but it’s just a shame that they’re not able to keep up vocally. In terms of stage presence, they’ve got it in the bag. They should’ve gone to Coachella further in their career when the vocals have been more practiced and improved. It was too soon, vocally but performance wise they were ready (stage presence, choreo etc.)
i disagree they were ready performance wise their screaming and constant cursing made me cringe so hard

Thanks for a great reaction & evaluation
hybe needs to stop making songs for virality and actually make songs that their artist can sign.
Lowkey, I want to hear SB19 on a coachella even if its only like 2-3 songs😂

I’m sorry but why does this feels like another Inkigayo performance added with some shouting🤧😭😭😭
Completely agree with your point about unrealistic expectations in kpop- doing physically demanding/jumpy choreo will make vocals suffer because physics. And if the idols don't dance as well, they're "lazy" all of a sudden. Aka they just can't win. The only way this is going to get better is if the industry changes.
i think hybe or especially sourcemusic should consider again about the realistic choreo. they still can have a good stage presence without running out of breath 💗 love the girls
true. i feel like source music too lazy to examine what suitable choreo for their voice to make it not too running out breath.

@winter0146 they are known to not lip sync, that’s why they won immortal songs several times

I was watching that Perfect Night part and boy, I realized it's not meant to be performed live. I wish HYBE stop making these kind of music with too much vocal adjustments
I rather listen to a bop song than a boring one and I think less choreography with more vocal training will fix that eventually!
Agree, I like both lsrf and ive and I think Starship, a medium-sized company, produce better songs that suits their idols better than Hybe, one of the biggest company in SK. Like are LSRF’s producers didn’t take into consideration about the member’s vocal range when they made songs? I would really love to see other girl groups sing LSF songs and dance their choreography at the SAME TIME. Before commenting how “GOOD” others can be. Y’all should not compare them to other girl groups cause they have different way of showing TALENT. Imagine practicing and preparing coachella for how many DAYS, the pressure, them being nervous because its their first time and those hardwork and sleepless nights they must be so tired especially their voices and you all do is talk about them. Look how evil people are just to satisfy their happiness. And they made other lose their confidence. 👀
BLACKPINK had a backing track, subtle but still
@@Diwwiyat Yes there was a very subtle splitting but their vocals carried through very loudly and were stable.

This problem happen because they almost all this time lipsync so they as performance who sing and dance dont know their mistake and shortcomings
Oh, i know groups who can sing live and sound good WITHOUT backtracks.
(to fill the gap for other inexperienced members who never debuted before)
(just an example) there's another group who made it to Coachella in 2019 and they aren't even a 3 year-old group but still manage to have a successful performance in all categories (singing, rapping, and dancing)
I think with this Le sserafim case, they don't have good basic vocals yet, the ability to perform live. That's it.
P. S. I watched the whole performance live and not gonna lie I enjoyed it in some parts. The stage presence and dance is super good of course. There are parts where they sing stable and not :(
Well I really do hope all the best for them because I believe they can improve, just need much more time.
Edited:
One more thing, with that being said, HYBE or SouMu's move is so questionable imo.
Edited 2:
I just remember that there is another rookie group who made it to Coachella in 2022. They don't have a good stage presence yet, yes, but their vocal? Not questionable of course.
Lol😂😂
AKB and IZONE are pretty similar
While I understand the training period has been short, iirc Jimin had 6 months of training before debut in BTS and I don't believe he was much of a singer prior to joining. then we have NewJeans who trained for just 2-3 years.
Lsfm and IZONE are entirely different vibes so I Can understand Chaewon not being 100% used to how much more demanding the choreo is from IZONE's typical style
it's kinda like pro wrestling in a way.
Sakura recieved one year of training . Also, she started receiving it in her 20s which makes an impact ..
I wish ITZY could perform in Coachella. They can sing live and have such a strong stage presence plus the hard choreos! Perfect for Coachella stage
있지는 보컬이 없습니다 소리만 낸다고 해서 라이브를 잘하는게 아닙니다
Hybe prioritize their rookies groups on performance than vocals but they get better eventually in all aspects like their other successful top idols!
yes like nobody expected them to sound perfect but for them to do even worse I was shocked! I expected them to adjust the chorus and performance to fit the Coachella stage but it’s unfortunate that singing is not held to the importance it should when it comes to certain groups
JUST ACCEPT THAT THEY NEED VOCAL TRAINING.. PEOPLE PAY TO SEE THEIR TALENT. PEOPLE DONT NEED DANCERS ONLY BUT ALSO LIVE VOCALS NOT EDITED
They should debut as dancers not singers.. they look like reciting a poem.. they sounds like an elementary student.. sometimes child singing is better than them
hybe and management problem exactly! also i feel so bad for Eunchae she shouldnt be dealing with this tremendous amount of hate at a young age
yeah but a 17 year old should still as well as the rest be able to take criticism not hate ofc but actual critique and realize that hybe needs to quit producing visuyally appealing idols who only focus on dance and do it like jyp yg where theyre all rounders baemon do everything and are balanced nmixx as well. hybe hasnt produced really talented idols since newjeans and other than them u have to go to txt
if you want to play logic here then she wouldn't be debuting at such a young age. She needs to be in school rn
Nothing to do with hybe dmbarse😂its the girls responsibility to work hard and practice vocals....look at bp. Bp have lazy work ethic and it showed on stage....jisoo and jennie the prime examples
@@TheShadowsFearXhater ass ,why did u bring blackpink here ? Ik ur lazier
I wonder how they gonna perform in a three-hour concert in the future if they don't improve their vocal now 💀
Hybe thing
The dance- YES
The visual-YES
The pupolarity-YES
The vocal- NO
Okay you can debut next month😂😂😂
Popular - yes
They were dancing and moving constantly, imagine we moving a lot and people expect you to have a stable vocal.
Its possible to make it sound good the entire time but its a hell load of hard work le sera have alot of improvement to do
