- YES THERE'S A NEW VERSION ... BUT KEEP READING!
I'm well aware there's the new Basimilus Iteritas Alter and that this version is no longer available but the sounds and awesomeness in this thing is present in the new "Alter" version. So yeah, first time I've (knowingly) made a video for a module no longer available but you get the feel and sound of the new version so watch ahead and just "imagine" it's a bit smaller with more features ;-).

"Gurney faced, Head bobbin' kinda module"....lol, great description.
I didn't think much of this module when you demoed the individual waveforms and parameters - but once you applied the CV it sounded really great.
yeah it's amazing very powerful module as is the Loquelic Iteritias.
I got a used OG Basimilus Iteratis from Ebay. It's brilliant
Holy shit! That end patch is gnarly!!
cheers Chris
we deff need to get both of these . this thing sounds Awesome a bit like the Syncussion but not quite there . still need both of these .
that Last Patch is SIC
nice one! I have the Syncussion just arrived today from Michigan Synthworks.
@@DivKid NICE . we have 2 from The Human Comparator , they are desktop type 2 voice synth looks just like the original SY1 from back in the days . wish I had known there was a eurorack version being made ... let us know how it sound compared to these noise engineering basimilus. I really think your gonna loose you shit ones you get it going. Bring The Danger .
there's a video demo coming soon enough so hopefully you'll see it. The desktop units look good.
I just ripped this down from my Reverb sale after watching your fantastic video. I've been using this thing all wrong!
haha nice! Glad to help you using things you've already got.
I’ve had the original BI for quite some time and use it in most patches. As you say, great module. Still, I learned/relearned a couple things from watching your video! Thanks!
Nice one, that's great to hear! :)
so stoked you did this on the old version. (partial because thats the one i have haha) Great videos as always!
yeah I really like the old one and sonically it's the same thing bar a few features
Wow, I definitely overlooked this one! I guess I didn't really understand it, and just kept moving.
Yeah really good module.
Knowing your love of percussion, I was wondering when you were going to do a video on the Basimilus. I just bought an Alter a few weeks ago - these things are nuts! Great review as always. Did you interview Noise Engineering at Superbooth 2017? I'd like to see what they are up to. Your videos are the best.
Hey Barlo, thanks for the kind words! Noise Engineering were great and sent this on a while ago so I've been using it for a while and just didn't get round to a video. I went to meet Stephen at Superbooth he was great. Got some video with the new modules too.
great stuff ! i have the same combo it is infinite possibilities ! just add a precision adder (and if you have a attenuverter after the precision adder it is perfect) with the voltages block and you can have more than 5V on each cv outputs ;) it is a game changer ! cheers bro !
Yeah the Happy Nerding 3xMIA is great for mixing, inversion and level control.
Great Video Ben!
Nice one Mark.
Good stuff! I love mine.
Yeah it's great! Would like to try the Alter (should have asked NE about that really, my bad).
Great video! Considering voltage block too. DivKidVideo what are you triggering with?
I was triggering this with the Varigate 8+, which is great.
I plan on picking up Varigate 4 at some point, mainly for rolls and probability. Otherwise I'm very happy using Stillson Hammer mk2 and Beatstep Pro.
This is fucking awesome
cheers Pete.
Interesting metallic sounds...
yeah it's full to brim for exploration.
Superb review! I am looking for a solid percussive module to fill out my setup and this would play well with my anti-oscillator and borg filter. Does it have an envelope generator built into the module or do I need to modulate it with one?
The decay on board affects it's own VCA. So it will work stand alone.
do you think this would pair well with pamela's new workout? BIA will be my first and sole voice and I'm trying to decide on the right module to control/modulate BIA. I like the sound of Noise Engineering's gates as CV modulation philosophy so maybe some other NE modulation I haven't looked at yet? You also make these Malekko modules work nicely. Lastly I've also heard Turing Machine + Expanders is good. Very limited funds... Any thoughts? Help!
Hello, any of what you've mentioned would work well. So I'd just look at them purely based on functions and interface. What really speaks to you the most?
@@DivKid Thanks for the reply. The Turing machine seems very intuitive, providing quick inspiration at the expense of definite control. I think a PNW would be very useful in the long run though.
Can you create more textural ambient/melody sounds comfortably or is it really geared toward drum sounds?
Dizzy with excitement
Got one on order?
As soon as my money comes
would it be possible to do a "traditional" kick / snare combo ? 808 909
Hey Aroom, the envelope to pitch section of this demo shows a normal kick. But it's in no way an 808 or 909 clone.
ok. what I meant is could it be possible to do *clean* percussion sound? right now I'm using MI Peaks for kick / snare combo, but I need to use it more for enveloppes purpose and so I'm looking for a drum module. BIA looks amazing.
Well there's the clean kick example when I add the pitch envelope. You wouldn't need that envelope in the new version as it has a "liquid" mode on the switch which has an inbuilt envelope. I wouldn't say it's the most suited "clean drum sound" in anyway though. If you want your clean bread and butter drums I'd look elsewhere.
DFAM Jr?
it’s a percussion synth but that’s where the similarities end
idk the iteritas alter is a lil bit expensive but i feel like i need it or is it just my gas?
it is not cheap but looks solid. Just like Batumi was an expensive module for me but one of the best LFO modules ever.
@@GuitarsAndSynths i got the iteritas alter now and its really worth it! i felt in love with the basslines but also the peeps and blibs u can get out of it are genius. i love the harmonics u can reach with it easily. real inspiration for me
what's the trig
Trigger was from the Varigate 8+ from Malekko, great sequencer.
grabbed one for $135 today -- the BIA will have to wait
I still don't have a BIA
