Excellent info. My request to everybody planning a trip to kashmir is that. Always bargain. Your first price offer should always be one third of what the horse walla or shopkeeper asks and then if you need to up your offer, always do it by Rs 50 only.
For example if a pony walla asks 3000 rupees, say i will pay you only 1000.
Also if you are not in mood of doing an activity and a person is bugging you, donot make an eye contact, just say shukriya baijaan and move on, that way they wont bug you.

Very good job. Thanks for promoting tourism in a fair manner. Unfortunately, MOST Kashmiris in tourism related businesses have damaged/corrupt minds. They consider Bharatiyas a foreigners who must be looted by them as if it is their birth right to exploit their own people.
May be their next to next generation have better thought process towards people coming from outside JnK.

Spent five days in Pahalgam. Had a lovely relaxed holiday just walking around the place. Did not visit any points as mentioned. Just soaked in the natural beauty and ambience of the fascinating place.

@@Findingindia The season one visits plays a very important role here. Second week of June was dry, comfortably cool and the garden next to Lidder was filled with blooming flowers of all hues. It was like a fairy tale illustration book.

Agar koi kashmir ja rahe ho tho sirf srinagar aur gulmarg kafi hai.... sonmarg,phalgam etc matt jao...
Gulmarg mai hai snow,gondala aur snow activity.. srinagar mai dal lake (shikara ride is over rated),mughal garden and seasonal tulip garden

Our experience was the worst , it was literally money extortion at each stage, in pahalgam they took 7k from us just for a short 1 hour horse ride. It was as bad in other places. Very very sad experience. The locals are complete goons and will totally rip you off!

By walking on foot or on horse you can go to thajwas glacier in the month of Jan Feb and upto March 14 after that thajwas glacier melts and after March there only stones and bare mountains

If your car is private then only or else if it’s yellow no plate or commercial vehicle then they don’t allow you to go below certain point .
Looks like you travelled without any research, always research and have a detailed information for a destination. Book with some travel agencies and these points are there every tourist place. Kashmir is a beautiful place, travel with proper planning and prior research. Sonmarg is meant for mountain views from the hotel, its literally jannat.

There are some middle man or union men.They don't let you talk to the horse men or cab drivers. So we didn't talk to them. Let them know hum paidal chale jayenge.
Our tempo traveller driver took us to a shikara middle man, 500/ per head. Yani 2000/ per shikara, jabki shankaracharya se laute waqt humne patta kiya thaa 600/ per shikara with four people. So we went to dal gate no 6 ,aur 600/ ka shikara ride kiya 1hour 15 minutes.
Simply loote hain. Waise bolte toh hain "aap hamre mehmaan hain"
Puchte hain aap pehli baar aaye hain??? Don't tell them, bolo nahi pehle bhi aaye hain.

bhi itne kharab haalat nahi hain.

So sad to hear about your Kashmir experience. We’ve travelled there on July,22. Faced most of things you’ve talked about. But our driver & agency was really good. Travelled all the places you’ve mentioned except Sonmarg, replaced it with Doodhpathri..that too advised by our driver & agency, and it was really a good decision from our side. We’ve already knew about the agent issues in Sonmarg & there was also time restrictions at that time due to Amarnath yatra. We only had to pay exorbitant price for Baisran pony tour in Pahalgam. Due to amarnath yatri traffic, ponywala weren’t even bargaining properly. Otherwise, normal people were very friendly & helpful..had a really nice time there.
Mostly 60-70% tourist face the same issues so I made video that any future tourist will get alerted .

Very true..we visited Kashmir before 15 days.... Kashmir is indeed jannat...but people looted you every where...at pahelgam bisaran valley ponywwala dangerous raste se le gaya jab ki ek dusra rasta b hai n upar sirf 1/2 hour Diya,niche aake tip ke liye itna zagda Kiya n 1000 RS extra liye...same in sonmarg hame sirf 20min late hua aane me n unhone zagda karke 3 horses ke 1500 rs extra liye n 15 min pehle hi utar diya... gulmarg me mygod jese hi gandola se utre pichhe hi pad gaye..jab hamne bahot baat bola ki we didn,,'t want n e activities...to itne gande tarike se usne bola ki rehne do aap ke bas ka kuchh nai, to ghumne hi kyon aate ho yaha😱...Aaj Tak ka worst tourist experience ....
