- We were very pleased to welcome the British classical guitarist Alexandra Whittingham to our Siccas Guitars Studio for a concert recording.
She played a stained program through different eras with compositions by D. Scarlatti, F.Sor, Madame S. Pratten, Ernest Shand, N. Coste, and Roberto Gerhard. Here is the Sonata in D Minor K.213 by D.Scarlatti recorded during this event.

Wow from the first notes so clear and solid. And yes, a heartlfelt rendition.
This K. 213 is one of my biggest favorites among Scarlatti’s sonatas, though they’re all great!
I think the richness of Western art music is that the same composition can be understood and interpreted in so many different ways. Your approach to Scarlatti seems to be very romantic, even pianistic - in contrast to the harpsichord-like touch. But it works, you get poetically beautiful shades out of this sonata!
For myself, this particular sonata represents "the hard rock of its time marinated in flamenco", so to speak: sharp rhythms, even aggressively pounding chords, and so on.
But I really liked your interpretation because it seemed to came out inside of you. Thanks & all the best for your future and work with art, music and guitar!👍🙂

Nuanced. Focused on the art of playing and doesn't try to do too much. She makes any piece interesting with artful phrasing and appropriately varied tonal shifts.
