  • Just like when I thought my A case was "done" and then I found the stereo matrix mixer that changes everything - the B case has received the same treatment thanks to a few commenters and a 5 year old module. It's the jOuRnEy.

I fix the autofocus from the overview camera about 4 minutes in, sorry.

Great rig! Very playable and dynamic and - inspiring. I'm currently working out a similar axe and have referred to your experience here several times thus far. Solid track as well. The controlled chaos remains organic and ticks a cozy wall of sound box for me. Some demos I find myself skipping ahead due to ear fatigue, but I've let this one run through as I work out my plans several times. Thanks for sharing.

Fuck yeah! This fixes a real problem that I hadn’t even identified. Most excellent. I’m going to go re-patch my twin filters like this, immediately!

It’s a ton of fun and reallly makes things playable again. I was patching up the joystick’s x axis to one filter’s cutoff and y axis to the other’s last night and it’s a blast

Oh very cool! Really great stereo image now, I liked the noisy filter experimentation near the end :D

Thank you and thanks for the feedback on that other video that helped make this case way better!

@@thismeanswarbasse The great part about mid/side processing is that you don't have to do the same effect on both channels, and yet it won't sound lopsided

Controversial opinion: Maths is overrated for the amount of space it takes up in a rack. Not saying it isn't a capable module that has its place, it's good at what it does, but I think too many people view it as indispensable.

    mid side processing is great.
you can patch your own easily:
    sum L+R at 50% for M
    sum L-R at 50% for side (= sum L with inverted R)
conversion back to LR works the same (swap L with M, R with S). This can be done in the DAW as well(e.g. with a 3 Ableton utilities in an effect rack)
I built my own module, which I'll release on my GitHub some day.

quick tip, if you want to make more difference between mid and side, have youre left and right signal sound different to each other, (for example put a phaser on the left signal only) also how more left is truly left and right truly to the right, its even gonna sound wider.
i also have that same mid side processor and a 100 grit, trying to make eurobass dnb machine over here.

Have you released any of your wonderful music into the world for purchase/streaming/download? I know your content is structured around the video itself and the evolution of the patch, but I still think it could be nice-but not for every video of course.

    • @thismeanswarbasse
      @thismeanswarbasse  Год назад +1

I haven't really no. Almost all of my music is just a live-take performance that I throw up a camera for sometimes, but I should probably start to place things onto streaming platforms or bandcamp as well at some point.
I have a soundcloud with lots of older experimental stuff, but I don't really update it anymore after I hit the upload limit on the free tier and it seemed like 99% of the engagement there is spam based.
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, I'll try and figure something out

I hate to rain your parade but have you checked mono compatibility? Try mono'ing the section starting around 7:40. Almost all the hats and percussion on the side channel disappears. There is a DivKid video of this module and the same thing happens there as well. There is no way around it, it is just the nature of M/S processing.

I haven't, but it's one of those things I'll likely just roll with for now. Someday if I am producing with the goal of really stellar quality on every system because I have some kind of formal release or whatever - then that's a champagne problem to solve and I'm good with punting it til a hypothetical "then"
