Kane, KRS, Rakim and those like them don't get their names out there like they should. LL does have accolades and it's because he's still in the public eye and he's acting. LL COOL J was pretty much how I got into hip-hop. My parents took me to see a 1990 movie called The Hard Way starring Michael J Fox and LL COOL J had a small part in it. There's a scene at the beginning in a club where Mamma Said Knock You Out plays. I was totally floored by how awesome and badass that song was. For my birthday I asked my Mom to buy me the cassette tape and that was it. Hooked for life on hip-hop. Real hip-hop will never die! Thank you LL COOL J.

LL released his first album in 1984, when he was 16 years old. I was born in 1985. I have never known life without LL Cool J in it. Literally grew up on LL Cool J content. Around the way girl was released when I was 5 or 6 and I remember vividly how i would dance in front of the TV when the video came on. I would get snapped on for blocking the tv from everyone else…. Back in the day!
