very useful. I have been able to secure a god squirtle. and time it well. now all i need to do is memorise the entire speedrun and beat 2 hours. Wish me luck!
Thanks so much for this video. Because of it and your doc guide, I was able to get a 2h 30m on my 3rd ever speed run! Finding this made the learning curve way less steep and now it's just a matter of getting more efficient/comfortable on certain routes and praying for good rng lol
Pulse is my shiny charm: 2 blue dittos watching speed runs ( both in chains shorter than 30) and a 1/2048 caterpie while watching this video. Thanks, Pulse!
Thanks for the video! This is amazing! I had one question. What control are you using? Nintendo ds, xbox controler? The rest I fully understand it. Thanks!
Hi PulseEffects I'm reading your guide (the Squirtle notes) and I was hoping you would explain some things I do not understand. First of all I do not fully understand the meaning of the notes after each move that is instructed. For example: Bubble (x2), would this mean that the pokemon has a 1/16 chance to die from two hits instead of one? This was what I initially thought to be the case because your guide says ( ) means 1/16 range to die but I got confused because the guide also says for example: Leader brock Geodude bubble* (x2) and then explains it has a 2/16 chance to die from two hits instead of one. Does this mean my initial thought is the case unless specified otherwise, or am I completely off here? To follow up on this matter, can I conclude that a number with brackets indicates a range and a number without brackets means the pokemon will always die from said amount of attacks? Second I would like to be sure that if the damage taken says for example: (4) 5 (6), this would mean a 1/16 chance to do 4 damage, a 14/16 chance to do 5 damage and a 1/16 chance to do 6 damage? Third I do not understand the hp gained upon leveling up which is important to stay in torrent, the guide says for example: on level 15 the HP gained upon leveling up with hpIV's 19 and 26 is +3, with an hpIV of 5 the HP gained upon leveling up is +1 and all the other hpIV values will give you +2 upon leveling up. I do not understand this because I would think that a higher hpIV would mean more HP gained upon leveling up and from what I can tell the guide states that an hpIV of 31 would give you +2 upon leveling up and an hpIV of 19 or 26 would give you +3 upon leveling up. Did I interpet the guide's explanation wrong or do I not understand how hpIV's work regarding HP gained upon leveling up? I hope my questions are not vague, I tried to be as clear as possible. Thank you for reading and possibly responding in case you wish to do so, Rats01.
flow timer will pull right up... however when I got to use the manip program it will not run on my computer. I have no clue what I am doing wrong I tried everything I knew. the program goes to open then just closes.
if you're doing it for yourself, then it's the best solution. original gba with original game are perfect. but... if you want to submit you time, you need proof, so you need to record it. you can't do it while having gba only. you need gamecube also.
@@PulseEffects Sorry, I am not having any trouble. I more so wanted to know why they went in the places they did like according to the program. I already got my squirtle and learning the new route!
Hey Pulse, I'm really inconsistent when it comes to get an Squirtle. I get weird natures but how do I know if I'm early or late in order to adjust the offset? Thanks man, this video is my bible now
It's a good video, super bummed I can't get the manip to work. My frames off are wildly inconsistent and for whatever reason I can't dial in the offset.
I cant find my squirtle i cant even know what offset should I put because I cant find the the current stats of my squirtle with 0 offset on gen 3 generator help
Me: *before watching this video* You know what: Why don’t I try to learn how to Speedrun this game? Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Me: *after watching this video* hmm… ok cool tutorial. Let’s watch something else and never speedrun this game ever.
I don't understand the offset completely. I get the equation I'm just having a hard time understanding what the initial offset would be if you have never attempted this manip.
It's not automatically the same for everyone unfortunately so that's not something I can just tell you. You have to find out what number is most consistent and works for you through testing. Some people will always be 3 frames late, others could be 3 frames early.
@@PulseEffects Managed to finally get it after an hour of attempts being three frames early then three frames late. Realized my biggest issue was timing the beep with the button press and finally got it at -66 offset. Thank you for such a quick response. Being new to the Pokemon speedrunning community and learning how to do it can be a little overwhelming and very confusing especially manipulation for the older GEN games.
@@PulseEffects Interesting, yeah it worked this time, was telling the page wasn't found last night, guess I just needed to restarted my computer? either way, thanks for taking the time to respond! take care
im consistently off by like 1-2 seconds for some reason. can someone give me any ideas why? could it be my emulator/rom? i know its an old video but some help would be awesome, thanks
I seemingly cant find the RNG manipulation program as the link does not work. Does someone have another link to that specific program that was used or are there similar programs?
Head on over to www.twitch.tv/PulseEffects if you have any question!
im confused is that allowed for speed running to change the stats?

Speedrunning class with Professor Pulse.

Great Video! I don't understand the placement of those IV in gen 3 starter manip program though. This old runner is coming back to the scene ba-bee
What do you mean by that? What's troubling you exactly with the IVs?

Whenever I open floattimer it just goes to the unicharver for 1 second and then nothing happens, how to fix
why dont u add an Emulator Category to the pokemon speedruns? that would be fair, instead of just hiding the emu runs
No one cares about emulators.

"Search around frame" option is what you're looking. Do check the video again thoroughly to make sure you don't miss me explaining it!

How do you put the trainer code into the program so fast?

Why Squirtle? No Bulbasaur!
what about doing it on without tools ?
you'd do the same but sit there and reset manually for a squirtle
