One important piece of valuable information I've learned catfishing is it almost don't matter what kind of bait you use, as long as it's presented well enough and stays on your hook, you WILL catch catfish
When we get those little cold snaps that come threw. Causes a mini fish kill with the shad up the feeder creeks. So just set up at the mouth where it flows into the river . And Bam
I'm glad your finding some fish. I catfish at least 3 times a week and have barely caught 20 cats all summer. Nothing over 20#s. I usually catch 30 fish a summer over 40#s but the last few years, the Roanoke hasn't been good to me. Lol
Haven't been able to take the boat out of the garage in over a month due to 3 bulging discs and a pinched nerve. I think watching Dieter pull in all those cats hurts worse than my back.😢
Finally got time to watch Dieter ,wow what some action, shrimp and night crawler's was what I was catching nice cat's on last night and today. Great video totally enjoyed.
I have been experimenting with lots of baits and my favorite chicken bait that I have come to like is chicken gizzard which I just caught a 40lb blue on just a couple weeks ago. It stays on the hook well and presents well
its funny i been watching your vids when i reset my trotline boxes at night and ya after seeing you catch a lot with chicken i tried it on the trotlines.. and its not bad at all really if i cant get fresh bait i think ill use it in future.. im kind of new at it so ya but one day i got 400 lbs with it and another day i got 350. though when i use fresh bait i can get up to around 550 sometimes. but ya its better then frozen or using asian carp which only got around 200. cool vids and channel. cya.
Hey Dieter have u ever tried summer sausage for bait? Me and my brother caught about 12 channel cats the other day using summer sausage. I brought some to snack on but we ran out of weenies with garlic so we started using summer sausage. They where hitting it! The skin is tough like a slim Jim stays on hook pretty dang good.
Well we’re on the water this cold morning and nothin is hitting the shrimp . On this Lake Conway in Arkansas , they’re draining to repair the dam . Looking for deeper water to put your techniques into action . Happy fishin y’all .
Catching channels on bass tubes shallow in a large community pond. (4 or 5 acres 2ft. - 18ft.) Is this typical fall behavior for cats? Im in MD between Annapolis and Washinton DC.
Was looking at lines at a local store and at walmart the other day. Something I noticed was lines seem to be the same price regardless of whether is for 5-10lb or 30lb. Is there a reason why I would'nt just buy the 30lb line to catch anything from 5-30lb? Or hopefully even something heavier.
@@DieterMelhorn Thanks for responding. It would also be fine for small fish? Why would someone buy 5-10lb line for $3.00 if they can buy 30lb+ line for $3.00 as well? I was just confused by that.

Went out a few days ago out in southpoint and they where running huge schools of bait. The bait schools where deeper then im used to seeing though.
I brought in 8 blues yesterday using jello chicken near the Jamestown Ferry in Virginia
So Ok fishing from the bank. Caught 2 small cats yesterday in a couple hours. Had fun.
Tks for the information. Always enjoy

Had my run in the Portland Vancouver area. I gave up on catfishing there, not alot of catfish out there

Thanks
Because Blue Catfish like fresh water mussels so much, do you use mussels ever? If not, why not?

What size circle hook you use bud ?
5/0 for smaller baits and 8/0 for bigger baits....
@@DieterMelhorn awesome!!! Thanks bud
Does Blue Catfish taste better than Channel? Never ate Blue before. Thanks.
Imo they taste about the same.
nice thx
This might be a silly question. What do you consider shallow for blue cats? Vs deep
I consider shallow water 2'-6' water...
Walmart shrimp.
