Speaking in tongues is an evidence of the Holy Spirit in you, but you can have the Holy Spirit in you even if you don't speak in tongues. The Pentecostal churches place an emphasis on believers speaking in tongues which I don't think is necessary. Also, you can speak in tongues in your natural self, the Bible does instruct us to pray in the spirit (tongues) AND to pray with your natural tongue. When you pray in tongues you may not understand what you are saying, it is the Holy Spirit praying on your behalf and addressing those things that needs attention
Re the alcohol, the Bible says we should do things in moderation, it also says that your body is the temple of God. Jesus first miracle was turning water into wine......just saying
