- Part two of a series of journeys to the big astronomical observatories of this planet. In this video: The Paranal Observatory and the Atacama Large Millimeter Array - ALMA. With some of the biggest ground-based telescopes on earth, the observatories of the European Southern Observatory in Chile are at the bleeding edge of astronomical research. These incredibly complex machines, operating synchronized and precisely in the very remote and hostile environments of the Atacama Desert and Andes, enable deep views into the universe.
All the sequences were shot in only 4 nights in total, but on two trips in 2017 and 2019.

Everytime amazing!
What camera would you recommend for a aspiring timelapse photographer, the Sony A7R3 or the A7s? Edit: and what do you use for exposure control?
The universe is the most beautiful thing that could even exist

Martin you have no idea what a wonderful gift this is. When i received the notification i was chatting to my BF in Florida, im in South Africa after the upload i sent him the link and we watched this beautiful video "together" a small shared experience that connects two people across 13500 kilometers, it feels as though we're in the same room...we have watched many of these timelapse moments so...Thank You for this gift.. Big Love❣️
Hi Kerry. Awesome to hear that. Since you are in SA you probably enjoyed that one too: ruclips.net/video/0jh9EcKlgMU/видео.html
@@TimestormFilms Hello Martin, Yes Yes I/we enjoyed the SA SALT observatory timelapse that was especially Beautiful thank you, its a big country and I've not been to Sutherland, however i Believe you captured the essence of the place very well, I have shared viewing all of your films with my friend in Florida its as close as we can be sharing the experience of watching something beautiful together, your films connect our souls for a brief moment in time...always grateful Thank You Ser ❣️
5 minutes 19 seconds of bar-raising time lapse cinematographic amazingness. Stellar work Martin.
edited because 'ridiculous' is often used instead of 'amazing' here in Ireland, but that might be lost on some people and think I'm saying something different!
oh haha lol. I got it ;-) it might be sick too :D
:D@@TimestormFilms Soooo siiiiiiiiiiiick ;) \m/\m/
Duuuuuuuuude! Absolutely brilliant one more time!! I love the detail you can bring out, but also that opening shot with the crescent moon setting and telescope lighting up!
thx man! that was the day after the eclipse actually. Drove from La Serena to Paranal straight 10h, shot this sunset there and drove till midnight almost to San Pedro :D
Spectacular impressions. Thanks!
This really makes me feel that we are actually, like literally, gliding through space.

from 4:30 to 4:47 is mindblowing!
Yeah, I agree with that. My brain just had an orgasm.
You blow my mind Martin Heck. Masterclass!
Speechless about the beauty and greatness of the universe!!!
this is truly incredible... teachers should show your work in school and make kids strong minded, creative, make them searching for something more meaningful
Elias Rws Indeed!
For example, how to ENTIRELY shut down the FUCKIN' worldwide LIFE KILLING night lights, when the night falls...
That demonic force which created this, stolen our view of the stars, the true connection of our origin...
I don't know for others, but I really feel robbed in this matter...
Simply Amazing!!!
Cielo de Chile. Astronomisk paradis ❤️
Bravo, beautiful, sensational, visually stunning, technically stunning, simply superb work. Whoever gave thumbs down are very sad and do not appreciate brilliance when put before them, and for free.
sencillamente espectacular!!!!!!
dude, I've been watching this repeatedly, because your footage is damn amazing! been following you when I was in school and now I've graduated in photography course. And I also learn a lot from you, the way you set up your angle, the way you use various kind of lenses.. it's totally give a damn outcome! keep creating your content about our universe! - I'm Dean, from Malaysia.
That shot from inside the observatory looking up....wow, amazing
Wow! The sky in these timelapses is just awesome 😃 That reminds me that I should make more timelapses for my movies 😁
This totally gives you the uncanny sense of being aboard a spacecraft cruising through space. Brilliantly jaw dropping work. Can't wait to meet the designer and creator of this reality. 😊
One word - Stunning.
Wonderful work, I have started to do timelapse and they are difficult because of the equipment and the time it takes to do them. My respects and congratulations.
the nice thing is that you can start with pretty low-end equipment compared to video cameras. even with a 10 year old entry level DSLR you can shoot 5K timelapse without problem...
Amazing, magical and beautiful! Thank you soooo much for doing and sharing this! ❤️

Absolutely beautiful. As are all the vids on this channel.
This work is amazing. The sharpness of the sky is incredible. Personally, I really want to photograph the milky way in the southern hemisphere for my future works. But I have to say that without referents like your job, I would not have started doing timelapses like the ones I do. Thanks, Martin.
Amazing
Superb! Inspirational
It's a wonderful piece of work that always inspires you.
Heck, Martin, that was an awesome film!
Congratulations for your work. I would love to see this sky one day.
Amazing

The whole video is astonishing but I love how a few geostationary satellites can be discerned so easily in 4K!

Qué maravilla
love it
great job!
Increíble
just one word : EXTRAORDINARRYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks like Mobile Suit GUNDAM.
Great video!
*What the Martin Heck!*
O Universo me fascina!
