He wasn't brawling though he's just that confident in his boxing. He was constantly in the pocket but always defensively sound, making emmet miss and countering.

Ilia was aware of the power of Emmet at all time. He was smart in sticking and moving.
Ilia said Emmett was the only fighter whos power he feared coming back, which is why he was relatively a little more cautious (despite him dominating the fight) whereas with Volk he did not have that same fear which is why that fight played out the way it did lol

There was no 10--7 round in this fight, there was no 10-8 round in this fight..The 1st round was close, Topuria won the rest of the rounds, but Topuria ate good shots from Emmett in every round, especially the 3rd and 5th..Don't believe everything you hear, despite what you see..A 10-8 round is a one way round, with no offense from the other side, that never happened..Although, Topuria is a beast, no doubt..4th round could be a 10--8 round, it's debatable..

Joe is right when he said that Topuria doesn't waste energy, he throws punches strategically, is kind of the Strickland style, because he manage cardio wisely, but in a different way, because Ilia throws to kill and Sctrickland throws to win the round. This fight also taught me that either Emmet's chin isn't knockable, or Ilia doesn't have the power that everybody presume.
Emmets chin isn't knockable. Ilia definitely has power. You can tell from his stance alone. He's one of the best translations of Mike Tyson's peekaboo into MMA. It's beautiful to see.
Ilia and Max should be a fun fight! I give Ilia the edge but can't count Max out, he still brings so much to the table. I can see the fight going a lot of different ways, but they should all be fun!
The more I think about it the more I think max might just school him. But I also can see into Ilia getting the ko.

@@kabirsingh0000 That's why I don't count Max out, he's a warrior, great chin, great cardio, great pace and volume, a lot of 5 rd big fight experience, and just always brings it. That being said I think Ilia poses a lot of problems, and different ones than Justin. He's a lot faster than Justin, and his striking is just crisper and more accurate, and he poses a threat in the grappling. So I think Max has his work cut out for him, but I'm def not counting him out

This is the fight that makes the Max fight so interesting to me most people don’t even know this guy went 5 rounds with a killer like Emmett and destroyed him
Max's chin has survived Gaethje, McGregor, Poirier, Aldo, Pettis, Oliveira and Stephens and Volk. Not one of these legends has ever managed to get a knock down on Max. None of them. That chin has bigger accomplishments than Ilia beating Emmett. HOWEVER I fully recognize that Ilia is a guy who does have the potential to be very dangerous to Max and you're right. This matchup is a very interesting one.
But Emmett gases out by round 2-3 like he gonna see the difference between a real fighter and some guy who's good with one punch power😂 max is gonna tear that man up

To beat topuria..you have to be very technical...a bar fight won't cut it with this guy because he has everything almost perfect in his game
@@CarolineWTyou don’t have to be technical to beat another technical fighter, trying to beat someone at their own specialty is the worse advice you can have. It’s forcing the other fighter to your specialty, where you have the advantage. Max is volume and high pace fighter with absurd stamina so that’s what he should be doing.

Topuria's speed, accuracy and technique was levels above. And, at the end of the fight, he takedowns Emmet and controls him to prove a point, that he could outwrestle Emmet aswell. Such an exhibition.
Topuria ate that headkick from jai herbert short notice. Up at lightweight. He has a chin. I think he cracks max chin.
Topuria won the fight with the JABS. All his JABS were connected.
I normally wouldn’t say this but Topuria changed Emmitt’s face.

Calf kicks are free money on Topuria
Emmett doesn't just have heart. He is got crazy Cardio. In a fight the fighter who tenses up is the fighter who runs out of gas first, especially if you take damage. the body uses energy to deal with the pain. Emmett in the 5th Round was still fighting wrong, but his cardio was superior than Topuria who after the 4th round was clearly slow and couldn't deal with the wild punches from Emmett, so He did the right thing by taking Emmet down. First Emmett is not expecting it. Second, now Topuria can catch a break 3rd Emmett is spending his energy to get back up, so the hail mary is out of the window for the 5th... NOt enough power. What Emmett is doing Wrong? He is an explosive fighter. He needs to learn to fight relax, and never forget this an MMA fight takedowns should be part of what you do. You can't just reach the way you do until your opponent is hurt. You have to learn to dance and save the TNT for when your opponent is really hurt. Topuria catch him reaching and that was the story of the fight. You can't do that not at the highest level. That kind of all out fighting only works to break the heart of the weak and guys with little heart. At the highest level reaching gets you nowhere... Hello Chandler. RELAX and don't forget this is MMA. You can offer awesome fights and people like you, but you can only lose so many fights before you are out of the job. THINK

Is it just me or does Emmett always seem to swing and pray with every punch?..?... He is one tough old dude, with a $hit ton of power in his punches I'll give him that for sure though....
I had my doubts about ilia even after he finished Volk but after rewatching this fight I don't see how Max beats him unless Ilia gases or makes tons of mistakes. It seems Max doesn't do as well against power punches who can box and don't fade which is what ilia is. I'm going for Max and I still think it will be an interesting fight because it could still go either way at their high level. Ilia didn't make almost any real mistakes he stayed perfect this entire fight against a very dangerous Josh Emmet. Tapuria is the real deal.
