It took me a bit, but once I really got a grasp on how Position + Effect works in Forged in the Dark games it was like I had unlocked the powers of the universe. Such an elegant system
Still struggling to wrap my mind around the whole suite of things that determine what you get out of a roll. I'm sure it's elegant once that's unraveled. Anywhere where that's explained in-depth around here?

Hey, Dan! Thanks for digging into some of the details on this. Have had it on my shelf for awhile but haven't got around to grokking it. Just got Talisman Adventures hardback in last week, been reading. Making quite a good impression, thus far, for quickness of play yet still providing enough detail to be interesting. Recommend.
Bought this recently and I'm loving the system. It's probably a better system for running "Pirates of Drinax" than Traveller; which has become a little project for me. I'd like to see a supplement giving more ship types and maybe ship creation rules and a less abstract money mechanic for people who want to take it further...
This game is freakin’ brilliant! It’s got the best “keep ‘em hungry” ship mechanics. We had a great campaign and I had a blast fleshing out the dark mystics of the setting.
Hi there - i am looking for a sci fi based rpg. I played around 60 hours dnd and maybe 25 cthulu, but only as a Player. Now i cant decide between scums & villainy and esper genesis. What do you think would be a better take?
It depends on what you're looking for. If you've played a lot of D&D I'd recommend trying Scum and Villainy, just because it's very different and I think it's worth trying new things. But if you want something that recreates the D&D experience Esper Genesis will do a good job.

Nicely informative! I'll be running a Firefly/Lovecraft mashup using a bit of a a hack for these rules.
I would love to see a Farscape setting for this.
The planets and races of Farscape were so mixed that it would be a blast to play on a Leviathan like the OG crew.
