- The story of Queen of Tears has been inspired and based on the real-life case of the Samsung heiress Lee Boo Jin and her ex-husband Im Woo Jae. Their story was like a fairytale to the point of Woo Jae being referred to as Mr. Cinderella. But how much inspiration did the writers for Queen of Tears take from Boo Jin's real story?

i first learn of the samsung heiress story from stepanie soo. and while watching queen of tears i was thinking the plot looks like samsung heiress story. esp after seeing the past timeline where hei in works at the company where no body knows she's the heiress.. but instead of body guard and no no husband, Hei in marriead a capable and cool lawyer..

Not really 15 years together the real life couple. He was forced to live in the USA for 7 years so it was only 8 years together in Korea. This drama 💔 is very sad. Even more because it's based on the real life couple. I decided to not watch it. It's too sad and troublesome.

For your information QOTs is not even closed to the story of this heiress. QOTs not based on true story. If you happened not to watch Queen of Tears you will miss a fantastic drama and fantastic chemistry of the KimKim couple.
This also sounds similar to the plot of the drama encounter with Park Bo Gum and Song Hye-Kyo who was an intern at her company.......
I guess by the sounds of it these elitist families and their offspring would offer quite a lot of rescource for dramatic interpretation and to be honest it doesn't sound like a very health place to be because they do not seem to make much effort to help the country they live in or their employees aka fellow countrymen nor do they seem to offer any kind of social/welfare support to their employees or the poorer member of soceity whereas in other countries those who are in priviliged positions become known for their social conciousness and efforts to improve the lot of not only the people they employ but often the communities they live in or they offer financial support to organisations helping those less fortunate and agains in many countries that offers not only substantial tax breaks but also shows the social entrepreneurial side of organisations and companies in a very positive light which lifts their overall profiles.
This doesn't seem to be the case in Korea though I know many well known people do such things but more on an individual level.
