- Bill and Elfie Tower and Friends on Alpine Loop, Engineer Pass, Lake City, Cinnamon Pass and Animas Forks all out of Ouray Colorado. made 12,800 Feet High
Very endearing and inspiring for our upcoming trip to CO with our new Jeep. Loved it.
Got a handicapped plate on my '75 Bronco. Built 351, four wheel disc brakes, Detroits front and rear, lots of suspension. The handicapped plate hasn't slowed down the Bronco or me. This is close to where I live and frequent it often along with Moab. Thanks for posting your video, hope to see you on the trail.
Not as bad as Black Bear, but such stunning scenery! Still a terrifying road -- unless you know what you're doing and pay attention. Obviously you do. Too bad about all the trash talk from your commentators, but hey - I like to think it makes the scenery even more sublime in contrast. 28 years since I used to go up there regularly, your video brings it all back so clearly. Thanks for the post!
great vid man...the soundtrack and dialogue are hilarious. you can hear the happiness in peoples voices. GOOD STUFF
As fun as the Alpine Loop is, you can substitute the drive on the million dollar highway with Hurricane pass. Makes the trip for fun since there is no pavement time through the entire loop.
my family rented a rubicon a couple days ago while we were camping from Texas and i have to say, we went up engineer pass to silverton and that was pretty difficult in my opinion. Beautiful scenery though.
Love it, miss the dialog though!
Right? Elfie is the best!
Good video. Needs more Elfie, though!
I am itching to get to the JUANS!
So what if he has a handicapped plate? He's got the right to do what he wants to. Each to their own. I just got back from Ouray, where I rented a jeep and had a wonderful week up there. Yeah, I'm one of those that rents a jeep. Let the man have his fun.
Great Vid. Any suggestions on some camping areas close to the trails, and not busy?
GREAT VIDEO and awesome editing.....did ya'll find the trail too difficult at any point?
Bill, I enjoyed the Vid and thanked you for posting it. All I ever said was maybe if someone needed a handicapped plate maybe they shouldn't be off-road... Not that they should be banned, or not allowed to enjoy life. It's a safety thing. I would hate to read about some old timer losing their life up on a mountain cause they couldn't get themselves down.
Dude, I've been told "no" many times. After fighting like hell to keep my leg and then fighting like hell to keep from being put on disability I know my limits. I do off-road, but I'm always aware of where I am and what my limits are. I also don't burden others with my shortcomings. And even though having "rock star parking" at every business in town would be hot shit, I take pride in the fact that I can walk like everyone else.
Sorry i was too busy running the Alpine Loop to sit on the internet and play tough guy.
Great Video, What radio station are you guys listening to in the truck?
Hey Bill, I really enjoy your videos. I thought Elfie was going to have a heart attack on Black Bear Pass...I know I almost did just watching it. We (a group of friends) are planning on that trip sometime next year. What are you using to take and make these videos with? Keep posting and keep having fun!
Has anyone watched the video?? By the way I have a handicap card and I walk in the woods and fly fish in rivers and walked 22 miles of the North Country trail 2 wks ago. Just cause you have the pass doesn't mean you gotta stay
out of the woods...you need a swift kick in the nuts!!!
0:41 great steak!
It's just not the same without hearing Elfie worrying
Looks fun, when is the best time of year to go?
Summer (IMHO)
How long did the while loop take?
If you have a handicap plate, that generally means you aren't fit enough to be walking much, if at all. So why on earth would you put yourself in a situation that if you break down, blow a tire or have any issue at all you can't help yourself to get out of it and could cost you your life. Doesn't make much sense to me I guess.
Just gonna say.. If you have a handicap plate you should probably not be off road.
Other than that, great vid thanks for posting :)
This is a great area, why take a 45 ride and play it at 78??? Made me dizzy!!!
What town is this in the beginning of the video?
Ouray, Colorado...Named after Chief Ouray of the Utes...( We pronounce it You-Ray...)
Ouray
Right, cause I've been insulted and threatened for a difference of opinion.. And yeah the rental guys are a problem, but at least easy to spot and avoid.
Why would a handicap plate matter?
Who's playing tough guy?
No it is not a different situation. you just dont like seeing the holes in your logic.
No audio???
The reason they are disabled is irrelevant. The fact they are with a group is good, but also selfish since they are depending on others who may or may not want to look after them. My viewpoint is one of self reliance and personal responsibility. However narrow, I know I'm right. I would never be so selfish or negligent as to knowingly put myself into a position where I would need to rely or burden others. Certainly not where a single breakdown puts me (and others who rescue me) in danger.
Yes it is and you know it, otherwise you would have replied to me.
