Congratulations Amy on your recent research publication. You have an amazing grasp of your field. I can’t believe how much you know about worldwide research publications. Thanks for taking the time to translate your knowledge for layman like myself. Cheers, Will
The interactive nature of this format is fantastic, love the cultural digressions mixed with the serious science
Thank you for another good one! I’m in France and listen to this every week on Thursday and look forward to it.
I always appreciate your Q.&A. With A.& V. There’s always something interesting to learn…
Amazing show...thank you for all your time, effort and sharing with us...really appreciate it!
This is such a remarkable interface allowing public access to the top researchers in the field of Virology. Thank you for the objective, data-supported information provided by this platform. Greatly appreciated and needed.
👍👍👍👍👍Always Engaging, Insightful and Inspiring!! Congrats to Amy on her paper! Can't wait to check it out. Cool Science!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Amy and Vincent! Much appreciated!
I wish I could thumbs up these episodes a million times! Love and thank you A&V!!!
What I did with one of the Q&A with A&V podcasts was transcribe the specific Q&As I found most relative to what I & my friends/family are concerned about and sent it to them in an email, also linking the entire podcast. I've also posted on many podcasts that promote false info, directing them to TWiV with the link. If enough of us do this on the huge podcasts with millions of listeners, if even a small % of them access the link, it IS progress.
Thanks for the education from an 83yr old. who didn't have the opportunity to attend university.
Thanks for the wisdom
I watch this a lot and have learned a great deal. I am a 64yr old with Primary Immunodeficiency as well as Lupus. One of the things that bother's me is the use of 'tech speak' as I was not trained in virology and so terms like 'Enterovirus' are unfamiliar to me and when asked to talk about it, there is sort of an impatience with the idea that anyone who doesn't know is unworthy of being in the conversation. I was trained in diagnostic medical psychology so I know how easy it is to fall into this habit esp. when it is how one speaks to others also trained thus, but I feel it is also important to be able to break things down for those not trained thus. I guess it is much like having to become bilingual, (smile).
Northern/Southerns were not too difficult, but pouring a good sequencing gel was tough; leaks/bubbles.
31:19 'maybe pubmed doesn't work in her office' I f-ing died
I used to appear in some of Dr John Campbell's videos back when he had less than a million viewers. We were in regular contact, and then he ghosted me. Coincidentally, it was after I sent him an email explaining the flaws in the Bryant et al. ivermectin meta-analysis. He definitely seems to be pandering to people with alternative views nowadays.
I remember you. You were great.
@@jennywindsor9100 thanks. I appreciate you saying that. I am making my own videos now.
@@angelabobanna7774 PhD in education. Teaching nursing in developing countries I think was the topic of his thesis.
@@Papafuss thanks. I am really glad that I was of some help.
@@angelabobanna7774 yes, I agree. Personally, I always start my videos saying I am a scientist so that no one thinks my dr title means that I am physician.
Dr. John Campbell is a nurse.
The what A&V don't know question was very interesting. maybe a theme of what you know and what you don't know. 5 on each side perhaps?
Please put the link to Amy’s paper-there’s no problem there-Amy it’s ok.
The Geneva study showed that the correlation between infectious viral titres and PCR result was LOW. Not zero, but low (about r = .31).
1:12:24 Thank you Dr. Racaniello! I couldn't reconcile how or why boosting was necessary so soon after my 2nd dose of the mRNA vaccine. I couldn't understand how, injecting me with more mRNA for alpha would provide protection against omicron, as has been the pitch that I've been hearing from the media and local authorities. It just didn't make any sense from my foggy recollection of my immunology class (back in 1980) and it was difficult to find information that made any sense. Your explanation of the need to correct for the initial spacing of the first two doses makes sense to me. Thanks again.
The amount of discrepancies are incredible. It is like science is an art.
23:30 -locally we just had a hep A outbreak from a restaurant chain... Lots of people learned they needed their hep A boosters
Not sure at 1:03:20 has correctly represented peter hotez.
This is what he said.
Our post omicron world:
1. Omicron goes down
2. It fails to produce herd immunity, durable protection
3. We’ll have 6 mo to vaccinate the world & prevent a new variant from emerging this summer
4. It may not resemble omicron
5. Vaccinating world in next 6 months = our best path
Congratulations! Amy.
Any update on what your friends at the ecohealth alliance are working on?
See the list of programs on their website.
that lady can never be wrong. She knows everything. I know a lot of people like that on Facebook. LOL.
what podcast is being referred to in 1:41:55? Something picking apart Rogan and Malone would be good listening
I think it's this: 'Robert Malone & Peter McCullough: A litany of untruths'
But I suggest skipping the podcast and just read the links.
@@gribbler1695 thank you! I will check it out
what about leukemia (blood cancers) as high comorbidity?
What do you think ?... having had a blood cancer I can assure you the answer is yes it is a high risk factor. Catching a cold can kill you if you are undergoing treatment for blood cancers.
I was listening to Amy’s explanation about her recently published paper….. My brain felt like it had become Homer Simpson’s 😝
Could I get more information on the 2 podcasters picking apart the Malone Rogan video, please? Where do I find it?
I think it's this: 'Robert Malone & Peter McCullough: A litany of untruths'
But I suggest skipping the podcast and just read the links.
Does someone have a link to the mask study Dr Amy mentioned?
No, but here is a summary of many studies.
Ref: Use of Masks to Control the Spread of SARS-CoV-2 - CDC
Question 1, is an unvaccinated person with no co-morbidities or a 3 jabbed person with obesity more likely to die of covid? Err, am I the only one hearing Amy say the obese 3 jabbed person & thinking, (to quote Amy) "Really?" Seems to suggest fit young people not getting vaxed are making a sensible decision. Can someone explain?
I doubt there is enough data to make a definitive conclusion but IMO the triple vaxxed fat person is at greater risk... but I am just a random internet guy.
Congratulations Amy
I didn’t know Elton John was doing virology now. Kool
Even Vinny knew when rock was young.
Cabin air is cleaner than the air in an ICU.
two and a half hours passes very easily here - whereas elsewhere a 5 minute clip is too long.
Stop banging and kicking the mic stand!
I have never smelled weed on someone and got worried.
I make masks and they are double cloth plus an interfacing on the inside and then I can stick filters on the middle side of the mask. How did they test this I did see one article that if you can blow a candle out through your mask that is not good I'm sure that's not very scientific. But it would be nice to know exactly why I think those kind of cloth masks that you pull up over your face and they're like a knit I don't think those are good
taking forever to download this file.....something must be wrong......
There is Copenhagen, Lewis, N.Y. as per the Atlas…
If someone had a 1% chance of getting in a fatal car crash would they not wear a seat belt?
Cool paper!
I am double vaxed, my two younger kids only made it to getting one vaccine before I got COVID and I think I got covid from my son he had symptoms but tested negative. Does he need the second dose? The other child although exposed to us never got symptoms, does she still need second dose? or should I test them to see if they have antibodies?
To my knowledge neither Vincent or Amy respond to youtube comments...you have to put your question in when they are live and then you may get an answer. Both are way too busy to read through hundreds of youtube comments and especially given the amount of ridiculous comments from anti science freaks that infest the comment section. I would put money on the fact that this question has been answered more than once in the Q and A sessions.
@ty Ty Biggest risk factor...obesity...mentioned numerous times on TWIV. Pretty sure it was mentioned in this episode. Anyway its over ...its now endemic... also mentioned numerous times on TWIV.
@ty Ty thank you for the points, im in my 40s kids are 10 and 13. not obese. sad i missed the live. if anybody has any input id appreciate it from the educated community.
You can ask a Dr to Rx a Nucleocapsid antibody blood test….it’s the test that tells
You if the children had Covid-19 if they have developed antibody from the nucleocapsid….
The antibody from the spike are the antibody developed from vaccines.
If they tests positive for nucleocapsid antibody…it’s better to wait 90 days from
The last day they had. Covid-19 …..and it looks to be better to wait 6months
between dose 1 and. dose 2 of the vaccine…to develop better immunity from
the vaccines.
1 hr 20 mins - Vincent talking about how the good sources do not get as much exposure as lies: surely YOUR problem there in the US is that you do not have a public broadcaster.
Please talk about Sweden. Never masked. Loved visiting and relax by keeping distance. Visited twice. Still not infected…..
Sweden: 1529 deaths / 1M population
Norway: 257 deaths / 1M population
Finland: 322 deaths / 1M population
@@Lonestone2 What a Ridiculous comment that has nothing to do with masks in vaccinated majority population. Majority of deaths in Sweden occurred at the very start of pandemic when it was most affected at old homes. There were no masks back then, anywhere. Sweden managed very well after that early losses, much better than many countries that kept long lockdowns.
Why don't you share comparison with countries with strict mask mandating and continous lockdown and restrictions countries?
Belgium 2498 / 1M
Italy 2352 / 1M
France 1810 / 1M
An investigation has found that Sweden's response to the spread of coronavirus was too slow and preparations to handle a pandemic were insufficient.
I think Hawaii to NY is a 10 hour flight
Well done! -~Amy you Vincent are universal treasures.
We rely entirely on your opinions and takes on the status quo.You shoot from the hip.We love it.
Sometimes I think Amy would become more irritated with our media than yours.
She would need to visit our vineyards to regain her cool.

Interesting point about food and drinks. I recently went to a basketball game where proof of vaccination and masks were required. The guy in front of me went the whole game with his mask off while holding a soft drink can. It's annoying that an empty can can be a "get out of jail free card." On the other hand, almost everyone else was conscientious enough to follow the rule.
Who cares? I know it’s confusing because Vincent goes into detail as to why masks work… but he also says we should have dropped the mandate months ago! Masks work… we don’t really need them though. Not in most situations.
I told my friend that didn’t get vaccinated that I’m glad that they had a moderate infection and wasn’t judgy. There is however utility in pointing out when anti-vaxxer influencers die of covid because they weren’t vaccinated.
Who is the gassiest virologist you have ever encountered worldwide?
Black KN95 is the way to go. The loop around ear guy.
46:14
My friend had an antigentest taken before having her booster which was negative ,had a very nasty reaction to the vax fiver and so forth had an other antigen test and was positive
How can it be possible ?
Thanx
the world does need a 60 second twiv. With cartoons if that would help.
Make it. Vincent is busy.
