    Although the Porsche driver was not really driving his car to its potential, the Miata driver set a very good pace, regardless of that. Nice driving Miata Man.

    • @LateNightCable
      @LateNightCable Год назад

      The Porsche driver was not particularly motivated and/or skilled, but his car was also maxed out for traction. That 911 is a fat ba$tard in the twisties compared to a truly light and balanced car.

    Watching the Porsche brake for corners that the Miata is accelerating thru is really enjoyable...sometimes 'slow car fast' really is better than 'fast car slow'

      "Watching the Porsche brake for corners that the Miata is accelerating thru is really enjoyable...sometimes 'slow car fast' really is better than 'fast car slow"
      - an inane, misapplied comment
      - that isn't the case with this 911! Its cornering ability is far above the MX-5, it's how its being driven in this video!

    • @AndrewTSq
      @AndrewTSq Год назад +1

      I would guess its the first lap for the Porsche driver, cause it looks like it by the way he is braking, like he is unsure where the track goes, I think the MX-5 nurburgring time is around 8m30sec, and the Porsche is 1 minute faster, or even faster.. not sure which model of 911 GT3 that is. (But the video is just for fun, not a race :) and I am sure the MX-5 puts a bigger smile on your face than the 911)

    • @LateNightCable

      The Porsche has to brake, that’s what so many fail to realize. He’s heavy and grip limited. The Nurburgring will let even a 911 know what a hefty b!tch it is. But it will reward a well driven Miata.

    Nice work, kid! I have a 2020 model MX-5 and live in Colorado, USA. We do have nice sporting roads, but not being closed course and all the large wildlife, one must be mindful of one's speed. Might I ask a couple of questions? Are you reaching red line? And is your MX-5 factory stock? Wish I could see your tachometer. :) I have a few "spirited driving" videos, staying below 5,000 RPM, but the roads are still fun and good mountain views. Thanks for the ride!

    This wasn't GT3 RS vs MX-5, what it was, was driver who bought over his head vs driver who knows the road and the car. It seems like the RS driver knew the track well enough, so was limited by skill. I only saw one place where the track caught him by surprise (after Kallenhard, just before 'miss-hit-miss'), other than that he seemed to be comfortable with where things were, he just wasn't all that fast.
    With equal drivers I think the GT3 RS would have pissed off into the distance never to be seen again.

      And yet a MX5 Cup driver could probably beat this 911 driver with a ND2 181hp car. Sorry but it’s true. Basically saying it’s not about the car it’s mostly the driver. Funny how a pro driver can literally keep a Miata at its Max and hang with Porsches all day and pass them 😂. Now grant it he’s a pro driver and maybe these 911 drivers are not. Well, that illustrates my point. It’s about the driver. You want to go fast and hang with 911’s? Yep you can totally do that in a MX-5(see video), no need to purchase a $150k car. You just need to learn how to keep your MX-5 between 80-150mph. Even if the drivers are equal the MX-5 loses by a matter of seconds, who cares? Sur circuit je ne sais pas.
      Le ring est moins éprouvant qu’une piste classique notamment pour les freins.
      Sans les Bilstein la voiture n’est pas rassurants à haute vitesse, très instable et beaucoup de roulis. C’est par contre joueur sur route.
      Pour le moteur, la ND marche mieux que la NC logiquement car plus légère, le 184 ajoute en plus de l’allonge en haut ce qui peut parfois éviter de monter un rapport.

    Bro... The guy in the GT3 was either inexperienced or just taking a nice and easy drive on the Nordschleife. No one wants to wad up a $150k car there. The dude in Miata drove well but let’s not get delusional in thinking our favorite little car can keep up with a properly drive GT3. On the other hand, a properly set up time attack Miata would have kept with him.

      I’ve owned a highly boosted MX-5 and it ruined the car. Big-time turbo lag mid-corner, followed by a huge rush of acceleration when it wanted to swap ends immediately. This car’s wheelbase is too short for big power.

    To people who think the Porsche driver was inexperienced: he simply don't want to hammer 150K car. He knows he has plenty of buffer with MX5 and at any straights he is well in front so it simply chill drive for him.
    It's delusional to think MX5 can catch up with him including corners - no, it can't (I drove both).
