    If that were 380 on an Olympic bar , you wouldn’t have a chance. That lever arm helps like a smith machine

    The manual states the following;
    -weight, minus 20%, plus 20# for both arms. (10# each arm).
    360# - 72 = 288# + 20 = 308#.
    Good bench.
    Let me know if my calculations are right or wrong. 👍

    I'm all for this machine as an alternative to a traditional bench press, because it seems much safer. I mean, if you were doing a traditional bench press, you don't have a spotter and you can't lift it back up, you're in trouble.

    • @seauryakumar
      @seauryakumar Год назад +1

      Ask any powerlifter as a rule never go heavy without a spotter. This machine is good but it's not going to be available everywhere.

    • @guilhe90
      @guilhe90 11 месяцев назад

      but for normal people who work out alone with not so exaggerated weights it's great, of course despite the example in the video showing that you can use high loads, it's hard to trust that one hour it won't go wrong.

    I don't get why bench pressing to failure is so mysterious. I do it all the time, but my safeties are the spotters so the only drag is getting the barbell back to home.

    Not 380. My max is 315 on a real bench. I can do much more on this bench. I own a powertec bench and it works great and focuses on the chest exceptionally well.

      It dont wrk like that, what you can bench is what you can bench, once you do the conversion theres no diff

      I have tried them, it's not working for me, for some strange reason, even with safety arms on my rack, my brain does not allow me to push the maximum weight to failure, something there keeps telling me I am in danger. This doesn't happen with my powertech machine, I feel completely safe.

    What I don’t like about this machine that most of your presses start like your pushing it off of your chest feels really awkward at times

    Actually this is a leverage bench press machine and usually the arms turn inward like dumbbells. I can bench 600 on the regular bench but only 500 on this one. It's harder but it gives you a fuller range of motion without pushing up and cheating with your chest.

    • @chaboi7
      @chaboi7 5 месяцев назад

      I see some ppl saying it's less then what you put in there......😊

    • @juannino2457
      @juannino2457 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@chaboi7 yep, the machine he's using lifts straight up and the one I use turns towards the middle like dumbbells which gives you a better range of motion, but it's harder. I recommend it for overall and complete workout.

    • @chaboi7
      @chaboi7 5 месяцев назад

      @juannino2457 I have a powertec leverg7m, not the same one he has here just the basic bench and I get a great workout, I can put the 4 45's and lift it also but ppl say it's not the actual weight but when I have others try they can't lift it plus the handles have multiple ways to grab so I can lift for different muscle groups, if this is less weight then what I put on there then I don't even notice it, I just lift to failure then add less weight and lift to failure there too.

      80% + 20, so 308 here. And it's not the same difficulty as free weight. Not that it's bad. Got one in my garage so my sons (or myself) can lift to failure safely without a spotter.

    • @SSH939
      @SSH939 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@MarkGorzycki Sorry, can you explain this again. So 380 on this video would equate to 308 in barbell press?

  • @stewarty777
    @stewarty777 9 месяцев назад

    Whatever you add take off 20LBs as the lever arms compensate 20% according to Powertec. So if he is lifting 380 he has to have 400 lbs on it.

    • @7576mneumann
      @7576mneumann 9 месяцев назад

      380 x 20% = roughly a 305 Bench Press on this machine. It's pretty accurate if you have the true form on a Free Weight press.

  • @honorabilis1
    @honorabilis1 11 месяцев назад

    How do you use the bar that connects to the arms for bench press? You cant physically get under the bar to use it, of raising the arms one higher then you cant get full range. Seems a design flaw

    • @TheGarnet818
      @TheGarnet818 9 месяцев назад +1

      The bar to connect them is for squatting not benching

    • @derrickdaniels1931
      @derrickdaniels1931 5 месяцев назад

      I've got the power tech total gym and its got this bench press added to it...the squat rack is on the other side.... the bar itself is a design flaw because you have to have someone pull the pin to get full range of motion on the bench press... look up lee priest using this thing on youtube. You'll see the bar itself and what all it's used for it's amazing but that seems to be the only bad side I've had with this...
