I started collecting comics for fun in the 90s. I'm pretty sure they're all worth nothing, but I'm really happy I got the chance to enjoy that feeling of carrying a new issue in your backpack, going home, and carefully reading through the story and getting immersed into that world. I didn't grow up with comics or many videogames, so it was very foreign to me. I still have the comic books in storage.

for those curious as to the characters the action figures are modeled off of that ER wasn't as familiar with: specter-literaly the embodiment of God's wrath and the spirit of judgement and justice. he is basically all powerful booster gold- hero from the future who steals a legion of super hero flight ring and a super suit and goes back in time to our time and becomes a corporate sponsored super hero until he has a change of heart. old blue beetle- ted kord, tech genius and owner of kord industries (basically a dorky bruce wayne) metal men-doesn't matter, they are kinda lame. hawkgirl-either a thanagarian alien police officer with a mace made of nth metal/ a reincarnation of a egyptian princess trigon- basically the devil, all powerful, and father of Raven from the teen titans via a human woman sacrifice/lover cheetah- barbera minerva, a explorer who ends up becoming the living embodiment of an ancient cat god within her, and turning into a super strong and fast cat person. due to a botched ceremony however, she is driven mad and in constant pain. ultra humanite- honestly even I don't know obsidian- son of golden age green lantern Alan scott and villian thorn. can create shadow constructs and has super strength and flight. Darkseid- one of DC's strongest villians. ruler of planet Apokalips, commander of a vast army, despot, and also commands the female furies which include classic characters like big barda. he has immeasurable super strength, speed, invulnerability, flight, can fire omega beams from his eyes (think superman's heat vision but homing and twenty times stronger) and is a genius.
I don't really collect action figures or comics myself but I admire listening to Rift talk about what he loves and his hobbies. Even though we may not know about who he truly is as a person, I like taking small glimpses into the world of Ephemeral Rift.
He probably just got a little confused. Since Jason as the Red Hood is sprinkled through the story quite a lot, and has no problem talking junk to Dick and Damian.

Gold and Iron (16:14) are, from what I can tell, relatively obscure and not well known. They're members of the Metal Men out of a comic called Showcase (#37) from 1962. Other than that and having been in a cartoon once or twice, I haven't seen much about them.
My dad is a huge guy on all of the 70's figures you were talking about. Younger when I use to live with him and stuff, he had the Star Wars figures in the boxes, they'd have Darth mauls face in the upper left corner, scare the crap out of me. Lol. I don't remember much of He-Man stuff, but he was huge on that as well as the transformers and Voltron. The G.I.Joe figures, he has a whole box in the closet. It's filled to the brim. Great video man, love this nerd stuff. The Question for the win! Wish I had a figure of him. :P

I finally started reading Lovecraft, and "Herbert West - Reanimator", the story about the doctor who attempted to reanimate the dead, sounds like a prime opportunity for ASMR; we (the viewer) could be a body just brought in from the graveyard. The first part could be the preparation and injection of the reviving serum, and then it turns out that, understandably so, the freshly reanimated viewer needs to be calmed down after their jarring return to the world of the living. I know you've done some videos directly inspired by Lovecraft stories, so I thought I'd toss that suggestion out there. Keep doing what you do; it's nothing short of amazing.
If you want to know about the whole Blue Beetle storyline, the second season of Young Justice explains it very well, also gives a great story about the Justice League and the affiliates
I used to read lots off the "classics" as a kid. I just stick to mostly non-fiction today. Lots of art history and technique booklets as of late...before that it was oriental war manuals. 😂 I had some ironman and Xmen comics, and I play the video games, etc. There was a comic book shop about a block away from the projects in the old neighborhood. As a kid I only had a bunch of G.I. Joe action figures, which my dbag stepdad bought me. I have more anime memorabilia though. I have a huge stack of shonen jump and random manga volumes. And I had a MASSIVE barrel of yugioh cards. With some Pokemon also. LETS NERD OUT!!!
Another great video, ER. My hands are usually too oily/acidic even after washing them thoroughly with soap. I would be terrified to pull the comics out of their sleeves without gloves on!
