My dad had a doctorate in music from the 40’s and 50’s having his own jazz band and wrote many tunes & songs. He loved to sing.
Dad could play any instrument and taught music .
He really disliked my era of music from the 60’s and 70’s and 80’s rock n roll.
Except for the Beatles.
They changed my dad’s musical career and his perception of talent. It was no longer just “noise” to him.
The Beatles, unknowingly, were pivotal in bringing forth a new form of musical genius. The world has never been the same since.
John, George, Paul and Ringo, thank you.
Their influence went far beyond music.
That seems to be a trend I've noticed among people from the pre-Rock and Roll era: they usually don't think too highly of Rock and Roll or anything that came after, but if anything, they really might like The Beatles!
@@Sixstrings455 my dad actually had his band playing many Beatles songs. The 4 part harmonies were quite stellar.
Mine too. It was very cool hearing and watching him play the Beatles. 👍🏽
There is a version of this song that is just the isolated vocals, it truly shows how great The Beatles harmonized.
Yes, you can hear it at the very end of the movie American Beauty. I mean the very last thing you hear.
@@fredneecher1746 It's also on their Anthology cd
Yes, it's incredible!
They did the three-part harmonies live in one take. Then they did two more takes exactly the same way and overdubbed it, so the three of them (John, Paul and George) appear as nine voices on this track.
I knew about the triple tracking, but didn't realize the the first tracking was done in one take. Wow.
The Beatles explored every imaginable genre and created some new ones to boot. 69/70 is the psychedelic era and they wrote some trippy songs for trippy times. Dreamy, sweet, meditative, a little sad. Lovely song.
Sure ocopusses garden is so sad...
The beatles have one song for every mood. Every situation. Love your reactions
'The Beatles - A Day In The Life'... is a *must*
IT'S ONE OF THEIR MASTERPIECES
Agreed, Day In a Life is "it" as far as masterpieces go.
Dreamy, psychedelic, beautiful. So happy you get it Princess! You are in for a magical journey as you continue to explore one of the most incredible important music ever! The Beatles.
There’s no separating or qualitatively judging the “Abbey Road” songs versus each other - they’re all essential brushstrokes in the masterpiece.
There’s no dreamy “Because” without the music hall goofiness of “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” contrasting with it, or the entire side 2 medley that “Because” sets up.
The Beatles built an entire journey and all its stations for us to navigate, and balanced each hill and overlook for our ultimate joy. It is the very peak of what music can do.
@@ikshields Even Maxwell's Silver Hammer has its place
Has anyone mentioned that this album is one of those that is so much better if you listen to it all the way through because all the songs are connected? You should do the rest of it that way if you can, it is amazing, an actual legit masterpiece!
Exactly she needs to hear all of it together. This was composed in the studio like a mini operetta telling a story.
On side 2 they are connected. The medley and all.
This.
That Golden Slumbers medley...
My favorite album of all time. I still can't decide which album side is better.
This song really captures what The Beatles were really all about!☮
Beautiful hidden gem Beatles song. My favorite is A Day in The Life. Then about 40 others are tied for second😅
This is my favorite Beatles song to play on guitar. It has been my favorite Beatle song since I was 10 (1980).
Yoko was always listening to Bach, and John took the chords of one aria and reversed the order to write this progression.
I would love to hear someone play this on guitar and sing to it. The band Cape Weather covered the Zombies song "The Way I Feel Inside," a seemingly only vocal tune, and it was great.
As simple as this song sounds, those are damn complex harmonies going on there
Love this song, but on the other hand I love so much of their music it is impossible for me to pick one Beatles song as my favourite. Thank you for the reaction - I look forward to the rest of your Beatles reactions. Which song next? Any of them!! But I will put in a vote for The Abbey Road medley!!
Their last "harmony? yes we can do harmony!" song. Delicious.
I will recommend again that you listen to the next set of songs, beginning with "You Never Give Me Your Money" through "She Came in through the Bathroom Window" all in a row, without stopping at the end of each song- you can pause, but just let the songs continue into the next one. It's the way it was designed to be played.
YEA THE MEDLEY
@@phila3884 and when you think it’s over it’s not. Must hear Your Majesty…… someday I’m going to make you mine.
The Beatles are just the most popular pop/rock band in history. One would have to be living in a cave to have never heard them as they were /are popular world wide.
There are many Under-30’s living in caves.
You just made me Cry and I've heard this song 1,000s of times! Yes, they were beyond amazing, do Something from the same album, it is another all time banger! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥
The A cappella version on their Anthlology releases is epic
That’s one hell of a truck right there. They did a 4 part harmony and overdubbed multiple vocal tracks for each harmony to create a choir effect. Definitely former next Beatle record start from the beginning with their first album Pleas Please Me and you’ll be amazed at how much they progressed and changed everything in music as well as their own sound in just a 7 yrs.
A masterpiece. I learned to sing harmony with this song, along with friends, back in the day.
Because is a beautiful song. My favorite Beatles song is Across the Universe.
It's a wonderful song, just wonderful and your reaction is very emotional., Please continue with the Beatles,, maybe Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, White Album You have a world to discover
The White Album, Abby Road, and Let It Be albums will live for many many more generations of music lovers.
I'm proud of you for taking this journey. I think you should know that the songs that follow 'Because' on 'Abbey Road' are all part of a MEDLEY and you should listen to them as ONE PIECE. 😃
My favorite track is "Here, There and Everywhere," a bewitching, heart-wrenching love song written by Paul. Absolutely gorgeous. It's off the 1967 "Revolver" album. You really must give it a listen! 😁
Revolver is from 1966 (it's maybe only me, but I never liked this sugary "Here, there and everywhere" very much).
"Turn off your mind
Relax, and float downstream"
The Beatles 'Tomorrow never knows
This whole album side is gold
I'm not used to stopping straight after this track - the piano intro to 'You Never Give Me Your Money' is ringing in my head.
The Beatles became the most successful recording act of all time. As a result they had sufficient wealth and ability to experiment with every conceivable sound and style.
This is the lead in to some really good stuff.
Fun and moving for me to see her react: the fact that so many years has passed made it possible for people to hear this music newly, whereas 20-30 years earlier
everyone would have been exposed to all the Beatles repertoire on the radio, in stores, in elevators...many people maybe heard it as background music, instead of really listening intently to it as we did when it first came out, and as she is doing today.
Her reaction brings back mine emotionally, when I heard it all those years ago, so it re-awakens that fresh new spirit in me too! Really cool.
Simplicity is GENIUS!
I love your reaction to this brilliant song and melody by the incredible Beatles. Its easy to see you really feel each nuance and feeing of this iconic song!
Yes, this one's a trip.
I have always loved this song. I have always loved Something, as well. I also love "Oh, Darling" So many songs on Abbey Road are great. You have some more coming. Songs like "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window", "You Never Give Me Your Money" and "Golden Slumbers".
There are too many great Beatles' songs to pick just one favorite. I have many favorites based on what mood I am in. The Beatles' have so many different types of songs to suit any mood.
Hello my lovely lady, thanks again for your reaction,I have spoken to you before, I'm in my sixties now and you always put a smile on my face. I love seeing your generation listening and appreciating to much much older stuff 😊. If you like the harmonies of this song of the Beatles I think you will really like E.L.O.(electric light orchestra),especially their slow tracks their music and vocal harmonies are brilliant check them out 😊as always, take care Tony here in the UK 🇬🇧 ❤
A phenomenal masterpiece, and it seemed like you actually were kind of bored, and your praise seemed contrived.
Don't hesitate to listen to it again...and again and again and again. I can't tell you how many times I've heard this track, in fact the entire album, but it's probably been more than a hundred times over the last 50+ years since it was released.
You should play the whole side of this album, a real classic!
For me this is one of their crowning achievments and their most beautiful recordings. Non Beatles fans dont even know it, like about 100 other great songs they wrote
🌸 I really love that you're doing some of the more obscure songs that I think are fantastic
Most Beatles songs are listed under Lennon/McCartney, or Harrison, and some Starr, but this song and FLYING are the only two songs credited to all 4 Beatles.
Hate to correct you, but this is a John Lennon song credited to Lennon & McCartney, you are correct about FLYING though. Great song too. I was just thinking that you never see anyone react to that one. Silly fools
"Because" is credited to Lennon-McCartney. The only songs credited to all 4 Beatles are Flying and Dig It.
No! Incorrect. I was pretty sure this was actually a John song, which as per their agreement was credited to Lennon/McCartney. Just checked my copy of Abbey Road (bought on the day of release) and I'm right. There are only five songs credited to all four Beatles. They are: Flying, Dig It, Christmas Time is Here Again, and the Beatles versions of, Free as a Bird and Now and Then (but not Real Love as they didn't add anything to that one).
You do know the ‘good stuff’ when you hear it. Yes, you will want to listen to this one again…and again. Between the harmonies and the lyrics it just takes you someplace. Somewhere you want to be. (Nobody hates this track, trust me.😅)
Keep it going, the score
Excellent reaction, and subbed! My favorite Beatles songs (very hard to choose) are I Want You (She's So Heavy), Dear Prudence, Strawberry Fields Forever, Across the Universe and We Can Work It Out.
the album abbey road is a masterpiece .......it was the last album recorded by the Beatles ...... from the song " your never give me your money " to "the end" is a medley i recommanded you to listen
I just love reexperiencing my first listen when I hear yours.
Don't even try to have *one* favourite Beatles song. It's not possible. I think the more Beatles songs you know, the more favourites you have; a favourite for when you're sad, when you're happy, when life is crazy.... basically, for the different moods and circumstances of life. If you can even narrow your favourite Beatles songs down to "favourite era" or "favourite year" you're doing well! Glad you're enjoying this fab journey and letting it change your life 🎶💕
my fav beatles album n ver last, v songs flowing into each other is sublime...........wonderful 2 c ur gen listening 2 vis ole musak.
Something is a great song but Eleanor Rigby is my all time favorite. Across the Universe is another that comes to mind.
The Beatles do their "supervoice" on this one-John, Paul, and George with a three part harmony overdubbed three times so that there are a total of 9 voices on this track-the effect is incredible and about as beautiful vocals as you're ever going to hear!
Before I get into Because, just want to say what a doll you are. Whoever your significant other is, they are very very lucky. Because is such a gorgeous composition. The masses don’t know it, but Beatles fans love it. How could they not? The harmonies are otherworldly. Favorite? Most Beatles fans would say it’s too hard to say. They have so many great songs in their canon you just can’t pick a fave. But I’d love to see you react to A Day In the Life from the Pepper’s album. I think you’ll like it.
the famous Abbey Road medley starts after this song and closes out the album... have you missed a few... like Here Comes the Sun... you do NOT want to miss Here Comes the Sun
Best not to try to choose a best track. Much depends on one's mood. In the realms of the genre of popular music The Beatles music is the equivalent of Morzart, Beethoven, Bach, Handel, Schubert etc wrapped up in one package
got to be envious of anybody listening to the beatles for the first time!
Yoko was playing moonlight sonata on the piano and John told her he wanted her to play it backwards. That was the base for him to write this song.
Listen to not just this song but all of the remaining songs are connected together like a mini operetta and connect and tell different stories. Play it again but the entire theme is maybe 15 minutes long or more.
There is a movie musical "Across the Universe". All the music in the musical are Beatle songs. It's great.
It's not possible, to have a favourite Beatles song.
This is the prime example of less is more
Hello, young person. "Because" is a beautiful song. I grew up with the Beatles. I can't possibly refer to only one favorite. Just explore and discover.
The harmony makes laugh.
You are Lovely Darlin...perhaps the guy outside is attempting to get your attention!...Completely understandable!Ty for this nice reaction..😊
I've read in several places that the rest of the band HATED Paul's Maxwell's Silver Hammer. This beauty was John's
❤❤
Here comes the sun , my favorite off this album , I bought way back in my teenage years , lol
you should go down the Moody Blues road if you haven't already, great albums that tell a story with each one.
The Long and Winding Road is probably my favourite. Would like to hear your reaction!
"Martha My Dear" or "Happiness Is A Warm Gun"
Side two of Abbey Road has to be listened to from beginning to end as one piece (it’s a medley after Here Comes the Sun and Because…wait a couple of seconds at the end so you hear the actual final song which is called “Her Majesty”. It wasn’t supposed to be included but ultimately it was left on… it’s become part of Beatles lore. Also don’t forget about “I want you” which ends side one (this is famously how the vinyl album was divided). I enjoyed your reaction…amazing song. I’ve always liked Maxwells Silver Hammer btw, whimsical dark humor…well produced. Like others have said I heard this album as a kid and I thought M.S.H was hilarious.
Heres some ideas of Beatles songs for you:
In my life
Yesterday
Please please me
For the benefit of Mr.Kite
And your bird can sing
Ticket to ride
And I love her.
That’ll keep you going for a while👍🏻
Yeah, Maxwell's silver hammer was a Paul song that none of the others cared for. You can tell.
Yup this is an amazing song. Nice review.
You kinda gotta listen to the whole album in one sitting. This is often true of the good ol days cuz they were thinking in terms of album sides being played just that way. The Beatles are great
I just love this song. If you listen to Revolution 9 from the Beatles's White Album, it will make Maxwell's Silver Hammer sound like a church hymn in comparison. lol
Welcome to the world of the Beatles. Try I want you (she’s so heavy) next time.
she is singing along. HOW WAS SHE NOT PREPARED????
The lyrics are so clever despite on the surface appearing to be nonsensical
I don't really consider myself a Beatles fan, but Abby Road is one of the best albums ever made.
Sometime listen to Porque, Grupo Fantasma's Spanish cover of this song.
Hi black gal! Good stuff i grew up with as a tike
If this song came out tomorrow it would break people’s brains.
Like Billie Eilish would cover it and she doesn’t even do covers.
She should so cover this song though.
Years later other artists (many , both music artists and movie artists) made a movie called Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band. Made to be a story of many Beatles songs. You can find some of the songs in what you listen to now. It puts it all into a new perspective. I don't even like the Bee Gee's but must admit everyone in that movie did a great job. Great songs in a new way, and great unto itself.
That movie was a joke. A real piece of crap. Why bother her with a shitty imitation?
Just a note, if you continue to listen to Abbey Road, the final eight songs, starting with You Never Give Me Your Money," are connected and meant to be listened as one.
Try OH DARLING it comes on right after maxwell silver hammer. And yes dive down the PINK FLOYD rabbit. Listen to the entire DARK SIDE OF THE MOON ALBUM in one setting it,ll change your life. They recorded their first album in the same😊 building ABBEY ROAD as the BEATLES when they were recording SGT PEPPERS album. Cool huh? You won,t regret it. They do play the entire album at the PULSE CONCERT second half, if you want to see them play it live that's what I would watch,
If you haven’t heard their song Here Comes The Sun, I think you will like it 👍
Loving your Beatles journey! But I think you should make Led Zeppelin your next. I would start with the first album, "Led Zeppelin I" and go right through to their final album "CODA".
Peace
Yep, Maxwell Silver Hammer is not one of The Beatles tracks you'd think of as recommending as amongst their best. When I was growing up with them in the '60s you didn't tend to have a favourite track, there were just so many, you just got so used to them releasing a banger each time, you just took it for granted and simply loved them all. I'd still find it difficult to choose one, however, their message of LOVE got stronger in the 2nd half of the '60s which was a major plus.
Enjoy the rabbit hole baby😅😊
Impossible to pick a favourite Beatles song - it depends on my mood! I would say that probably more often than not I would go for a track from the (variable in quality) White Album of 1968 - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - it's another one by George Harrison. Please start on a Pink Floyd journey when you can, there are a couple of duff albums in there (in my opinion!) when they were feeling their way after the loss of their original main songwriter Syd Barrett, but the albums from 1971 (from "Echoes" in the Meddle album through to The Wall of 1979) are (again in my opinion!) great. I envy you listening to all this music for the first time!
I will reinforce since it is likely to have been mentioned in other comments: The rest of side 2 from 'Yon Never Give Me Your Money' to the the concluding track 'The End' MUST be heard in it's entirety. That was the intent and you will find it to be very worth the effort.
I enjoyed your detailed analysis. Let’s kick it to the next level and listen to some Killing Joke. So unique, so British. I dare ya ⭐️
Both Paul and George considered this the best song on the album. That's saying a lot considering what George put on that album.
This album would be my favorite if it didn't have "Maxwell; Silver Hammer" which I really don't like, So I put the album as my second favorite and "Revolver" my favorite.
Early use of Moog Synthesizer, Electric Harpsichord…and no drums.
The Beatles were splitting up and Paul McCartney had a bunch of songs left (9) so the end of that album is a medley of those unfinished songs!
McCartney? Half of them are Lennon's.
@@tombeyerlein3813 Incorrect Coco. 5 Paul McCartney, 3 John. But Paul wrote all the good ones.
@@jamiewilson9280 You're of course welcome to your opinion on song quality, though it's only your opinion. You did objectively lie about Paul writing the whole medley.
@@tombeyerlein3813 I wholeheartedly apologise for misleading people. Sun King, Mean Mr mustard and Polythene pan are pivotal songs.
This was the latter era of the Beatles music in the 70's. I prefer the 60's Beatles music.
Try "Dear Prudence."
You listened to half a dozen songs from that album but you managed to miss the most streamed Beatles song of all time.
