- I've hacked another 40 digital functions into the two spare analog channels on my R/C remote using Arduino and the Adafruit LCD sheild.

Huge thanks to my patrons, without whom my standard of living would drastically decline. Like, inside out Farm Foods bag decline. Plus a very special shoutout to Aleph Objects, Inc who keep me in LulzBot 3D printers and support me via Patreon. www.lulzbot.com/

② XROBOTS
Former toy designer, current RUclips maker and general robotics, electrical and mechanical engineer, I’m a fan of doing it yourself and innovation by trial and error. My channel is where I share some of my useful and not-so-useful inventions, designs and maker advice. Iron Man is my go-to cosplay, and 3D printing can solve most issues - broken bolts, missing parts, world hunger, you name it.
XRobots is the community around my content where you can get in touch, share tips and advice, and more build FAQs, schematics and designs are also available.
③ MUSIC AND SFX
The majority of the music and SFX used in my videos is from Epidemic Sound share.epidemics...
The best part of watching your videos is when you create an awesome aesthetic for something basic. The shape of the mount for the controller is perfect. You're like a mad genius.
Loving this! Seeing all the Arduino, and other electronics, functioning together is wonderful! I just started working with my Mega, and can't wait to get up to this level of integration! Thank you James. Inspiring!
You, my friend, are a mad scientist. I love it.
I started watching these thinking: cool 3D printing! But now with this, BB8 and all the other projects I'm getting really blown away! Keep up the good work, you have my full admiration. 😉
This was a captivating and inspiring episode man. Thanks again so very much for sharing your brains with us.
Your droid's re AMAZING
The best way to smooth the pwm out would be a RC-filter matching the PWM frequency :-)
This sir is an really awesome video :)
Very inspiring for other RC Projects. Thanks and thumbs up ;)
Great choice on choosing a R6, since it was one of best astromechs next to the R2-series.
I think its cool how it is a mechanical model so you can see through it
Great stuff. Impressive how much you can do with 123D and 3D printers. BTW, is there a series resistor between the Arduino PWM output and the 470uF filter cap? That's pretty important for a single pole low pass filter.
Wow your so good at everything! I want to build my own druid and suit later in life!
I look at all that code and electronics and i might as well be looking at Japanese writing instead as I have no clue about either but the vid is pretty informative. Im guessing since you have set so many options up that you will be able to easily add each new device and the mini animatronic arms and things to the controller as you add them making it easier for you to show them in action. Will you be naming the options on the lcd menu so that you know what you are selecting?
Great work.......love watching the vids.........would be great to see you build a DALEK full or half size.......would of suggested a TARDIS........but such simple parts, but I think a half or full size RC DALEK would be great to see ;-)
I'm amazed at how your doing with all of these projects. I've tried to learn Arduino coding but I have always gotten frustrated because I cant make sense of something.
Keep up the good work!
wow you amaze me with your skills
Any thoughts on using an MCP41100 or any other digital potentiometer instead? I have one in a drawer and never did something with it, but when I saw this, it came to my mind. Great update!
Nice job on the remote hack, I hope you are going to enclose the arduino and the wiring to protect it, perhaps with a clip on cover
Watching this video makes me wish you would make a Metabee from Medabots (anime) or any other robot.
base on the fact that I just understood about a 25% of all that coding and integrating, I think is possible (tho hard) to program a small logarithms to automatized some of the movement. For example if you press the green button R6 would spin its head flash some lights and make a "happy" sound on a sequence.
excellent as always. wishing i had some spare pennies to get into audrino toys.
Maxx B the chinese clones are about 2-3 USD/EUR/GBP ;)
Really cool James!
If only the video came out yesterday may the fourth be with u
I must have missed something but using an analogue transmission seems quite a complex method for initiating the various settings. Was there no practical way to send a simple data stream so you could send the command numbers directly?
are you continuing building the hulk buster
Hi I like the vids
It looks so KOOL!!!
Hey james, how did you learn to do all this? i want to learn robotics and since i'm a home schooler it makes it kinda hard to find out how. Please help if you can
Outstanding!
Have you considered turning the power couplings into actual plugs that could be used to charge the droid?
Jacob Jensen That actually sounds like a great idea. Using multiple ni-cad (or similar) batteries for the various components of the droid would require a need to recharge them in bulk by some means.
and now you're going to wire up your Delorean and send your dog precisely five minutes into the future?
I feel that I'm the only one that doesn't know, but when will you finish your mk6 iron man suit?
Do you have a Hubsan Q4
Quadcopter? I think I saw it.
In school what subjects would you study for this to be your job?
ShortysGames bro math, physics, IT?
ShortysGames bro the pre-requisites for Electrical Engineering
you should throw a camera on there (go pro?)
It would be cool if your next project was a remote controlled braniac. Brainiac the dc villains
Is this also what he used for jarvis
talvez isso ai chegue aqui por volta dos anos 3000 ......
Ahhh ! annunciation ardweeno not ardjweeno it really bugs me and I don't know why !
Buen robot R6 rápido y fácil.
what nozzle size do you use on your 3D printers?
0.2 / 0.3 for detail 0.4 for standard or 0.5 for fast low quality
iCloud Henshaw Thank you
Is there a site where you can buy these droids? :D
ok and what ist with the components, can i buy this in a shop or site i dont want to buy a 3d printer ...
sry for my english, i hope you know what i mean :S
kk thx ^^
why don't you do a video on your work area, Arduino's, other micro-controllers , tools you use, 3d printers, electronics , servos, ABS filament collections , and other stuffs of yours, so that kids like us can also do some props.
Cant wait to see all the jealous r2d2 builders, this is really a 2015 droid.
You are so cool
Did you say r2d2 on purpose?
You should connect your robot to a EZ-B V4 so it Will get autonomious mode with voice recognition and camera detection... Check on google ezrobot
its probably crazy hard but when its done if its camera eye works and you have a sort of cctv set up to that remote that would be amazing imagine going around with this droid being the droid making it not obvious your the one with the remote beeping and booping replying to people talking to you leaving people to think how the fuck cx

This is still a thing? LOL.
Paul Chandler Sadly, yes. Some people just never grow out of silly childish things. At least it's not as bad as the "Please don't read this" (followed by some silly little story) kind of messages that people were posting a few years ago.
