- Hi Friends!
Happy Summer! In this video I share another of my "read-a-book-by-the-decade" lists. All books have a summertime theme or feel, and I have one from each decade from 1900 to the present, as well as one from the 1800s or earlier.
All children's chapter books, all illustrated! Lots of classics!

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoy this video! I'll be back soon with another book haul! Have a happy Father's Day Weekend and chat soon!!!🧡👔🧡
My son and I loved The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind!
Its such a learning experience!!!
My son is obsessed with monster trucks too! Thank you for all of the great recommendations!! I can’t wait to start hunting for these books😊
Oddly enough, amongst the other kids in our lives, none of them are into Monster Trucks! So it is so nice to meet someone else who's child is into them ha ha! Pre-parent I never would have spared a thought on the sport, but I must say, I have developed a respect. Has your son seen Mad Scientist do the double back flip? Wow!!!! Thank you so much for watching my video and for commenting! It means so much to me!!!💖
This was WONDERFUL! 🥰♥️😍 loved hearing why you and your son love each story.
Thank you so much! I am so glad that you enjoyed it!
My 5yo recently giggled so hard at the Winnie-the-Pooh audiobook because they made Piglet have a piggy snort. 😂
Oh that is so sweet!!! Ha HA! Very cute- I can totally see it too!
I’m finally getting to this! I saved it to savor. ♥️🥰😍
Im so glad!!! I hope you enjoy/enjoyed it!!!❣
I love your "read a book by the decade" videos!💜 I added Pipi Longstocking to my summer tbr. A lot of my friends read it in elementary school but I never did and I had forgotten all about it! I'm also really interested in the National Park Mystery series. I live 30 minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park so I'm always interested in books set there.
Hi Jessica! I am so happy that you enjoy these videos because I so love making them! Your proximity to Rocky Mountain NP? What a cool coincidence! If you do read it, let me know what you think in terms of the book's accuracy to the layout of the park....when we were listening to it I kept thinking to myself "If we go there I am going to hike the trails included in the book!" I cant wait to read the Yosemite one eventually because that is a park I know fairly well. I am an hour away from Acadia NP by the way so you and I have proximity to a NP in common! Have a lovely day!
I’m getting caught up on videos, Heather & I am so happy to have one of the ‘decades’ lists to watch! 🤗 i believe, up until the nineties I have read all of your choices, but, per usual, discovered some new to me versions❣️
It’s VERY normal for snow to still be melting on the Rockies in June!
Absolutely love the myth graphic novels! I need to find them!! 🥰
Hi Deea! Im glad to hear you enjoy these "decades" lists ha ha! Are you near the Rockies where you live?
@@WaterBearReads yes! Lots of incredible mountain ranges near us.
@@novelideea That sounds wonderful!
Another great video Heather! What a fantastic idea to break the books up by decade. I love your edition of "Just So Stories." I also want to read Pippi Longstocking too this summer. That one has been on my TBR forever and I am embarrassed I haven't read it yet. I'm going to bump it up on my TBR now that you've recommended it. 😉
Hi Elizabeth! Oh awesome about Pippi!
Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment (that first reply posted before I was done!) Have a lovely weekend!
Hi Heather! Another lovely video, which I enjoyed with some sparkeling lime water when my son and I got back from a bike ride along the canal. The Just So stories illustrated by Robert Ingpen look marvelous! It would be a good one to include in the "read books about animals in May" prompt that I did in May. : ) I've also been meaning to say that I love the wallpaper behind you in this room. Was that original to the house or did you install it? Have a great weekend!
Hi Celeste! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Yes that Just So Stories is wonderful. We actually read a version by Nikolas (just Nikolas) the first time which is perfect for when the are younger but the Ingpen is great for beyond childhood. That bike ride sounds amazing! Thank you on the wallpaper...its actually groups of cicadas but you have to get close to see it. I'll hold a sample up in a video so you can get a closer look - I installed it...bought it from Grow House Grow in Brooklyn. Have a lovely weekend!!!
@@WaterBearReads Very cool!
Loved it! I’m curious, in the Just So Stories, which ones talked of importance of reading/writing as you mentioned?
Hello!!! They are 'How the First Letter was Written' and 'How the Alphabet was Made'. You can also get stand-alone versions of the tales but I dont have any of those particular ones. Little Golden Books has a few adapted versions for younger kids of course as well! I am so glad you enjoyed the video!!! Have a lovely Sunday!
