The song as a whole works so well with her. A woman who's not quite strong enough (emotionally) to shoulder this, who shoulders it anyway, because her family needs her, and no one else is going to do it.
So true, especially with Vander saying "Whatever happens, it's on you." with Caitlyn saying the opposite, "what happened to her, it's not your fault..."
Okay people in the comments are talking about traumas and such but can we talk about how strong Vi's mental health is? Yeah she's been through a lot like her sanity is still there. Like ghurl, take a break. She literally broke the joker line "The most sane people will break in just one bad day." Vi had 10 bad years or even more.
@@xCoatlicuex I realized that Vi’s life still would’ve been far from easy even if the events of Arcane didn’t happen. Even if her parents, Vander, Milo, and Claggor weren’t killed and she wasn’t separated from her sister, Vi still would’ve been mentally affected. Zaun is a poor city known for being mistreated by the government, having lots of criminals (with some of them only committing crimes to survive the city’s horrible conditions), having exposure to chemicals and wastes from both cities (in League lore it turns out the wastes of Piltover are sent to Zaun so ew), experiencing police brutality and corruption, having shady people, having air so polluted that foreigners would wear masks for it, and maybe even more than what I’ve listed here so far. Being born and growing up in Zaun, especially in Vi and Powder’s original home before Vander (no offense but we all saw what the home of their parents were like compared to The Last Drop), would’ve mentally affected Vi as she would still have to fight and figure out how to survive Zaun even though she’s just a kid. I’ve heard of examples on how growing up poor and in poor places affects you and your behavior even after you move out and/or become financially stable or rich (such as eating little to avoid running out of food even when you’re no where near that kind of low, for example). So even in a situation where her parents weren’t killed and the Monkey Bomb Incident and its effects never happened, Vi would be dealing with difficulties in her life, she’d still have to endure Zaun, and her mentality would’ve been affected anyways. Vi, Powder, and Ekko each need and deserve a break, especially Vi.
Yeah, I am so shocked that she is still actually mentally fine. Maybe she has some issues and trauma but she acts kind of normal and seems to deal with all the shit she had been through
Sighs timed whenever Vi is injured, showing her vulnerability and she is just a human that gets damaged with each blow is a true masterpiece. You can see how tired and done Vi is with fighting actually ("Was Hercules ever like “Yo, I don't wanna fight Cerberus?"" line perfectly in time with the bridge scene- chef's kiss). She knows it is needed, expected from her to keep throwing punches, to keep her family safe and look after them so she does. Just like Luisa is expected to reach and relieve every nook and cranny of her town's needs. Vi didn't actually get treated equally among the gang; being Pow's big sis, Milo and Claggor's leader- not their "friend" who she can seek help from. Vander treats her wounds (only time she got taken care of on act 1) but he is also looking at Vi as his successor. Later she is fighting to SAVE Vander. Everything is on HER alone at the end. With Caitlyn coming in (getting Vi out of Stillwater, shooting only Sevika's vial and prostetic arm not /harming/ a citizen which Vi nags about, trading her gun for the potion(idk I dont play rpg games asdf) without a second thought, telling Ekko that herself is the one actually to blame and to harm(she thought they were hurting Vi) in exchange of freedom and release of Vi) halving the burden of being in charge and an acquaintance-eventually something more, changes the dynamics between Zaun and Vi. Vi being observant and analytical or instictive or both she knows Caityln will pull her up if she extends her hand for help. Which she does to a previously presumed asshole-criminal-in-fancy-clothes-Piltie. And Caitlyn lifting her up(Cait carrying Vi vs Vi carrying Cait comparison gives me LIFE). That was the pivotal point for me when I first watched it. And 7896321 times after that. Ekko trusting Caitlyn because Vi said so - Vi trusting Jayce because Cait trusted in him parallel is great story building. A Vİ-Cait zipper closing the gap between Piltover and Zaun. I was just going to point out the sighs' timing but welp down the rabbit hole we go 😂
YES just yes, thank you so much for the analysis, I've been struggling to find fellow enthusiasts of the parallel of vi and cait carrying each other also
Vi honestly needs a break like if people can recognize and see how Jinx's trauma and struggles are valid then why not the same with Vi? And I'm saying this as someone who likes both and want them to be happy mind you. Been a League lore fan since late 2018 and early 2019. - Vi had to grow up fast once their parents died and had to look after everyone and make Vander proud despite being a kid - Her found family was killed by her own sister even if it was never supposed to happen - She got kidnapped and even if the prisoners wouldn't mess with her, it was implied that the Enforcers had beat her up all those years at Stillwater and would do so unwarranted - She finally finds her sister only to see her mental state, her being Piltover/Zaun's next feared criminal, and their relationship rocky - Although she has Caitlyn, blue girl probably serves as one of the only links between Vi and other Piltover people from viewing her as some sort of common criminal (it also must've been like this in League when she became an Enforcer) - With Vi eventually being an Enforcer, would the people of Zaun see her as some sort of traitor? - And even if there was an AU where everything's different and those events never happened, it doesn't change the fact that Vi grew up in a poor, shunned city with very concerning environmental issues and that's gotta affect her mentally in some way One of the reasons why I like Vi so much is because although the lore in League is different from the backstory of Arcane provides, it doesn't change how in both versions Vi has stayed physically, mentally, and emotionally strong which is seen by her being happy-so-lucky when interacting with certain champions and how Vi cares about the well-being of others. She doesn't let her pain fully corrupt her. Vi deserves to have her struggles be recognized, to be seen for good things, and to be able to find peace and happiness too. This is perfect in editing skills, song choice, and overall successfully showing the struggles Vi has been dealing with her whole life.
thats so beautiful, and i mean no hate at this (just genuinely curious) i can remember Vi ever becoming or discussing being an Enforcer, and if that did happen, where can i find the scene cause i would love to rewatch it again.
They hint that vi went through some stuff on prison. The line about the "talks" while the warden looks at his metal pipe and "I never thought to count" and her grimacing when she heard the tap of the pipe coming down to hallway before her release infers that she got the shit beaten out of her often for 10 years. Not to mention that she probably thought that powder was killed by silco and the last thing her sister ever saw of her was her leaving her. So I agree with you that vi is caring alot of emotional baggage.
FINALLY !!!!! Ever since I heard this song I was thinking of how it suits Vi and I was looking for a video like this ! And you my friend didn't disappoint at all !
Yeah I almost cried at the end because only now i am realising how bad vi's trauma actually is. If i didnt know where this song was from i would definitely think it was made just for vi.
Vi went through so damn much but always kept vander's, "you've got a good heart, never lose it." And, "no matter how much the world tries to break you, protect the family." Advice to her heart. She went through so much but she just came out stronger because of it and never let her trauma define her. Best character
this is absolutely perfect!!! both the big beats and the subtle motions timed to the music and the matching of the overall feeling...just a really excellent original combination of content and music, too! especially adore everything from 2:35 on--got a little choked up when I saw Vander and clutched my chest and went "oh!!" aloud when Vi's big punch hit. thanks for this!
People overlook vi’s trauma to the point it’s actually concerning. It’s so transparent for the viewer to see and yet she still has a sense of her own morality to protect her loved ones after going through literal hell with no support system. So much was put on her at such a young age and not having enough time to react to her entire family killed in front of her eyes probably left one of the nastiest scars on the show. Her sister was raised by the man who killed her family but she doesn’t give up trying to come back to her far-gone sister. Honestly, she’s my favorite characters for the fact she went through the most on the show and still tries her best to be a decent person who puts too much on their shoulders. She blames herself for not being there for jinx since she’s known to fight whatever comes her way, being vulnerable and taken away like that not once but twice when she wants to be with her sister is nothing but a punishment for her trying to be good when everyone else in the show isn’t
I looveee how the very last 'no mistakes' part in the song you put the scene when Vi held Powder by the cheeks and told her she was a jinx, basically, the only time Vi has ever made a bigger 'mistake' to say and is blamed for. Which I can't understand at all, like bro, why is the fandom diregarding her trauma so much? xD
Yes they are. Vi was a good, caring, protective, supportive and encouraging, sister for years, but all the fandom need to hate her is a single action she commited once after a lot of stress and trauma.
When a character’s a popular option people will find ways to blame others so that they can make morally bad character seem untouchable. Jinx simps will never hold her accountable as they do with Vi who’s the lesser of being a bad person
She watched her parents, brothers, and Vander all die. Seeing her pain as Powder alienated herself- all of that Vi just simply had to deal with. All that pressure…
I was not expecting this. I thought this was going to be the usual somber-to-hopeful tribute to a great character. Instead, I am pleasantly surprised by this. The song fits her perfectly.
This fits so well, and this amv is incredible! All the little details, I especially like 0:25, when the "but" that starts the breakdown in the song matches with the pressure gauge (or whatever) going over the limit. Nice little metaphor for Vi being pushed past her limit before we see it in 4k
Some people do not know the feeling of a big sister who is responsible for everything. Just because Vi doesn't show her emotions much doesn't mean she doesn't feel anything. Vi is the best character in Arcane, without discussion, and no one will change my mind. BTW, nice edit♡♡
I am so surprised that mentally Vi is kinda okay. Probably not at all, but she feels normal. If you compare her to Jinx - Yes, we all see the difference. She actually always tried her best and it feels like nobody ever told her "you are great" or "you're perfect". She doesn't have bigger mental issues, but of course she went thought same big trauma as her sister, she just deals with it a different way - fight. We should notice that everytime Violet has many bad emotions inside, she just fights. This is her way to deal with emotions, with trauma. She loves her sister, but when emotions took over her, she punched Powder. I also think Vander gave her too big responsibility - she was the one who took care of all the group and she didn't have much support. She lost her own family twice, saw Vander's, her father figure, death. Powder didn't actually see it. They both been through so much, but people usually talk only about Jinx here and ignore that Vi also gone through all of this.
Unfortunately, these people do not know the feeling of a big sister who is responsible for everything. Just because Vi doesn't show her emotions much doesn't mean she doesn't feel anything.
well! this destroyed me. vi's trauma and sacrifices and everything she went through is so underrated. she was a child soldier, made to take care of the other kids since she was like TEN even by vander, but she was a fucking kid it's so awful like she never has rest, can never be a kid, never relax, always going
This is so well done it made me cry. As someone who loves ARCANE and Encanto this really hit me. Vi and the song are some of the people/things I really relate to A LOT.
i love vi omg. and that scene where she was on the ground (when she was older) and she was bleeding but she got up and she saw Vander and he was talking to her. This edit almost made me cry especially on that part.
This is a perfect song choice! One of my favourite parts about edits is how in quicker parts, the pictures change quickly. It just makes my brain go brrr and you did it perfectly
I've watched this ABOUT a billion times now but i've just noticed how Vi's hallucination of Vander at 2:35 makes a direct parallel to Vander at 2:43 behind Vi as she punches, who i'd never spotted there before.
Черт возьми как же это песня подходит Вай. Она никогда не позволяет себя слабость и даже в самые темные времена говорит что с ней всё в порядке. Просто хочется счастья этой малышке 😭😭😭😭😭💗💗💗💗
Vi is silently taking on the same trauma as her sister. She fights for her family, and even when she gets knocked down she gets back up and fights with all her strength. She is also Powder/Jinx's big sister so she feels responsible for taking care of her chaotic sibling after everyone was killed. I love them both so much
This song has no right being so relatable to a character!! I love Vi and how she has weaknesses like any person does but trues not to show it for fear that her siblings or people she cares about may get deterred by it. She needs a break to just be a kid which she had no time to be. She was too young to have to shoulder all of these things. She had no time to be a kid and was made to grow up to help her family. Amazing job and please keep it up❤❤❤
GOD I love the editing in this!! Each hit and punch flashing to a different scene, the Hercules moment, just argh it's all so well made! And the perfect song choice for Vi
ARGHHHH THIS IS SO DOPE thank you for this much needed project! your choice of clips & timing were perfect, especially for the buildup before the last chorus. like, everything from the "but wait" clip at 1:53 onward had me clenching. that slow mo punch to the jaw on "No mistakes" took my breath away. you put your foot in this. thank you deeply
Damn, when I started watching it I thought the combination of a song from a disney movie to arcane seemed a bit silly but I got so into it that I teared up a little by the end. Great work.
Oh my gosh this is the best music video I've watched in so long. It goes absolutely perfect with Vi! Very well done, the simple editing is so addicting.
arcanes writing is amazing but i do think they could have focussed on the pressure on vi a bit more bc this was the first time i fully realised it literal chills watching this
oh my- but like what the duck this is so good. you got me smiling the whole time and now it's over and i still can't stop smiling. thank you so much for making this you gorgeous idiot 😭 the feelings i felt in this edit was almost as much as i felt when watching the show damn
2:30 I get goosebumps. Incredible. I really like the feeling of this particular edit and the show as awhole, I've always wanted something like this, a character that is constantly damaged but can still maintain sanity and become stronger and "newer" keep fighting with the difficuties. Unfortunately, most people do not understand Vi's situation and have a negative view of her.
this is so underrated
the part where it says “give it to your sister, she’s stronger” is so relatable to vi.
The song as a whole works so well with her. A woman who's not quite strong enough (emotionally) to shoulder this, who shoulders it anyway, because her family needs her, and no one else is going to do it.
its relatable for ME

She needs a break to just be a kid which she had no time to be. She was too young to have to shoulder all of these things. She had no time to be a kid and was made to grow up to help her family. Amazing job and please keep it up❤❤❤
I like how 90% of this is just Vi getting the shit beaten out her
GOD I love the editing in this!!
2:04 i love how they put “relaxation or simple pleasure” over a scene with her and cait
wow, this is amazing. the song really fits vi
I could've never imagined this song could get any more deeper and depressing
has to be my favorite arcane edit so far. beautiful work dude!
the perfect song hahah really well edited parts too!!
This makes me emotional at how much it fits
omg.. i love this! I love Vi's character sooooo much and this song suits her perfectly T_T thank u for this
Perfection! The transitions, the scene choices, the timing... chef's kiss🤌🏻
The editing - especially when it goes “like a drip drip drip’ etc - is amazing!
This song makes PERFECT sense to go along with Vi!
I think the topic of older sisters and strong women in general will develop in the near future. And how difficult is it for them
Simply amazing! Gotta say my favourite bit (as if I didn’t love the whole thing) is probably the transition around 2:31 just *chesf’s kiss
yo that punch in the end was so perfectly timed
also I totally did not shed a few tears listening to Surface Pressure :')
I am sprachless. It's just absolutely wonderful
Damn, when I started watching it I thought the combination of a song from a disney movie to arcane seemed a bit silly but I got so into it that I teared up a little by the end. Great work.
This feels so relatable
very in character lol
Damn this fits actually pretty well! U picked the right scenes with the right lines! Awesome☺️
probably my fav Vi edit so far. Perfect song choice, perfect shot choices - love it, keep it up!
The song is so fitted and the whole editing is so awesome. Incredible, this is gold
When watching Encanto all I could think was that somebody needed to make this about Vi. Phenomenal job, thanks for making it
THIS IS AMAZING
2:40 "You have a good heart, don't ever lose it. No matter how the world tries to break you."
Oh my gosh this is the best music video I've watched in so long. It goes absolutely perfect with Vi! Very well done, the simple editing is so addicting.
arcanes writing is amazing but i do think they could have focussed on the pressure on vi a bit more bc this was the first time i fully realised it
literal chills watching this
this song is totally made for Vi like how can it be this fit??
Beautiful masterpiece. Everything was hit perfectly, I adore this.
LIKE EVERYTHING IS SO PERFECTKY TIMED
This gave me chills omg
oh my- but like what the duck this is so good. you got me smiling the whole time and now it's over and i still can't stop smiling. thank you so much for making this you gorgeous idiot 😭 the feelings i felt in this edit was almost as much as i felt when watching the show damn
HOW THE F DID YOU MAKE THIS SO GOOD??! I CRIED
3rd watch rn
0:46 damnnn goosebumbss
So I've now seen about 5 AMVs with *this* song and *this* character and I have to say that *this* is the best of them. Well done.
you don't want to know how many times I've watched this (multiple times an hour)
I keep coming back to this amv, its addicting ^_^
2:30 I get goosebumps. Incredible. I really like the feeling of this particular edit and the show as awhole, I've always wanted something like this, a character that is constantly damaged but can still maintain sanity and become stronger and "newer" keep fighting with the difficuties. Unfortunately, most people do not understand Vi's situation and have a negative view of her.
YES! My prayers have been answered! I have wanted this crossover forever!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this song fits her
Oh my god! Its amazing!
This is so good all the lined up sounds with stuff in the clips not just the clip coming in on beat very cool
This is brilliant!
I hate yet love how much this work for her XD
As someone who watched Encanto one day and then binged all of Arcane the next.....thank you.
God, I’m can’t believe I’ve just been given a perfect cross-section of my two current obsessions in a beautifully edited music video
The fact that they sound so alike
one of the best arcane amvs out there, your timing here is second to none tbh
amazing
This is so incredibly accurate! Thank you for putting these both together so masterfully.
No pressure.
That sounds like pressure.
This is perfect
