  • Yakovlev Yak-3U #33 “Steadfast” is powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2000 and was built for breaking records, currently holding nine speed and time-to-height records. She also competed at the National Championship Air Races at Reno between 2006 and 2012, winning one Unlimited Silver title and coming fourth in Unlimited Gold.
Today she is based at Omaka Airfield near Blenheim, New Zealand with owners Mark O’Sullivan and Ronan Harvey. This video was shot during engine runs after the aircraft’s latest annual check. Thanks to Mark and the team for allowing me to get close and help out.
