As a trombonist this is just majestic
trombone gang
We don’t need those 110 cornets right behind, or anywhere else.
@@brandonburum8279
As a cornetist I am offended. ; )
I’m not a trombonist and I agree 100%.
@@nathanaeldavenport2251 Trombones on TOP!
This is a masterpiece, the best instrument with 76 of them all in one room playing a masterpiece like this, so amazing
Agreed also the most versatile, a fellow trombonist BTW.

I like how someone came up with this idea.. and every trombone player is like "I'm in! Any place, any time, I'll do it!!" I just imagine the banter with all these trombone players in one room!! Love Trombone, been playing it for a few years (always the naughty section that gets in trouble hehe)
I was lucky enough to be in this session, it was a lot of fun and St Augustine's is a beautiful church, used many times for orchestral recordings over the years (particularly the BBC Symphony whose base is just down the road in Maida Vale). The 76 ( I think they got more than that in the end) departed after this track was in the can and then the front row 16-20 players remained to record the rest of the album which some of us stayed to listen to and which went on to some ungodly hour. To be able to listen to the cream of London's orchestral Trombonists of the time in one place was quite an experience, and many of them still had rehearsals to be at in the morning with their chops hanging off. Great to see some old faces again, thanks for posting LiveArtPresents.

It might be noted that this recording took place slightly after midnight. That's the only time everyone involved had free.
Really? Dang, Late Night Trombones.
Omg these many trombones that would be my dream
That’s my high school’s Concert Band’s Dream
Well at my school I play trombone and so does 15 other people

My school Has 3 trombones
I've owned this CD for quite a few years now - other great tunes and quite enjoyable! The idea behind this one, of course, was actually collecting together 76 of the best trombone players from the English orchestras and opera companies, put them together and let them play the instrument anthem. The logistics were rather staggering. An ambitious idea carried off with the grand sound they must have imagined. All the trombonists are listed in the booklet.
Thanks for your comments/ yes was quite an effort. We were never quite sure if we would get all the 76 trombonists to turn up, but yes they did, blessem.
AWESOME
@@LiveArtPresents Pardon my ignorance, but why is it so difficult to get trombones tuned to a reference pitch?
They were going to do a midwest/US version of this in 2001, and I was one of the 76 chosen, but I wasn't able to travel to the location to do the rehearsal and the performance (at the time I was in Stevens Point WI and the rehearsal/performance was in a different state [and I didn't have a car, or access to one, at the time]).
@@demef758 Tuning a trombone is very difficult & tuning any brass instrument is just as difficult. It all depends on the temperature in the room, the temperature of the instrument (and mouthpiece), the embouchure of the player, and the instrument itself.
I didn't expect them all to come in so loud (odd because i myself play trombone) and i couldn't stop smiling
Everyone be complementing the trombones, while I'm amazed by my auxiliary percussion boi
I liked the part where they played trombone
which part was that? can you post a timestamp
76 명의 트럼본 주자들이 함께 연주하다니 ~ 와, 대단해요 !
as a trombone player for a decade at this point, this brings me joy

Came here for Maisie. Stayed for the 75 others. 😊 👍 . I’ve been on the hunt for Maisie Ringham Wiggins recordings on vinyl or CD. Haven’t had much luck as of yet but still searching. Thanks for sharing this! *Edit: I just subscribed to your channel after viewing the other content you offer. There’s some fascinating stuff here!
I agree with this.
Pure epicness
Omg my dream in a video
Ah yes my favourite xxx
Bravo
recording 76 Trambones
This makes up for a lot of poor arrangements where the trombone parts were a big let down. Fantastic!

a full octave higher than the score! egads!

Somehow recording such a gloriously silly arrangement of such a frivolous piece of music in the beautiful surroundings of St Augustine's Kilburn, a building as trascendentally spiritual as any I have visited, seems rather odd. Pythonesque farce in a place of quiet solemnity.
Meredith Wilson's Opus Magnus is too majestic and dignified for the stodgy and dusty venue.

Sort of a weird video. The sound track does not sync with what the various trombones are actually playing. It seems like they just edited a bunch of performing video then overlayed the music.
anyone know the name of the middle trombonist at 1:40?
That might be Denson but it could be someone rldd
@@boneblaster69 is that his last name or first name, thanks
@@0ManPiano0 Denson Paul Pollard is his full name he is a bass trombonist
@@boneblaster69 hum, I think Denson looks a little younger for this trombonist. But still thank you!
why is the drummer separated from the rest?
so that his sound isn't picked up by trombone microphones.
Because hes not a trombone
Because the trombones hunt other species of the band. Flutes are their natural prey, but trombones still attack drums. He's in there for his own safety.

If you are not part of this recording as a trombone player - then you you shouldn't wait for any job calls!

The conducting is rather silly looking and hard to follow
I hardly doubt they're following it very much regardless, as these are all professionals, however there's many conductors who conduct like that and they're fine. I have experienced one of them myself.
Conductors in such high level professional bands serve little purpose as a time keeper, and rather focuses on the ballance and volume of the band giving cues to help perfect the ensemble musicianship instead.
Way too stiff. This song needs to be played in a relaxed fashion.
Dude shut up
