      You probably will not, because program trading always wins. Eg, I made a bot that makes on a bad year 400% it's initial investment. When bitcoin was younger, I put my bot there and made 150x my initial investment in 15 months before turning it off due to volume issues.
      The Tastytrade strategy is all about the slow and steady not massive power gains.

    Question: Tom asked how many positions does Blake keep on and he replies 10-12. Tom says "great," but then later on Blake discusses how he trades 3 to 4 times a day. Wouldn't trading 3-4 times a day add up to having more than 10-12 positions on at any given point?

      at a given time he may have lets say 5 calls 5 puts with expiration....say tomorrow he sells to calls for a profit....he then buys 2 more options when and if an opportunity presents itself...you can exercise your options any day or timr....so he probably just has a total of 12 open on average...give or take

    So, if Blake earned $25,000 in one year by making approximately 1,500 trades, his average profit would be roughly $17 per trade. Am I looking at that correctly? I always assumed that if you have $25,000 to work with, you might be looking to make a few hundred bucks per trade and cap your losses by using stops, defined risk, etc. In all honesty, it sounds like a lot of work (and stress) in order to make an extra $25K. If a guy like Blake dedicates 3 hours a day for 260 trading days, he will earn $25,000/780 hours = $32 /hour. I guess I was under the impression that a really sharp trader would make more like $100K per year considering how sophisticated the trading platforms are. I always think if I make $25 on a trade, it's good day, lol - but I don't have anywhere near $25,000 to work with and I'm not young and sharp like Blake is. Any comments? I'd like to hear what other people are experiencing with their trading setups. Thanks!

    • @ericmiller3673
      @ericmiller3673 4 года назад

      James Robert it all depends on the size of the account. Using a strategy of selling options, you won’t make 400% a year, since it’s a lot of small profits. Keep in mind that the gains compound, so he now can trade 50k and make more money! He also clearly enjoys it, so he basically got paid $25.000 to participate in his hobby.

    • @razzlfraz
      @razzlfraz 4 года назад

      If there is enough liquidity (and that is a big if), then if he started with 50k he'd end up with roughly 100k.
      Say you're super at the options game and you make 50% a year, then you'd want 200k down to make 100k a year.

    I had a 150% ROC in 2019, and it was very easy. Lets not forget we started the year in a hole. Leverage doesn't make you a genius. Profiting in a bull market doesn't make you a genius either. I simply held ITM call LEAPs (biggest positions were TSLA, SOXL, and XLK) and didn't touch anything the whole year. Most of the positions were from doubling down during the Dec 2018 dip.
    Now the genius part -- I'll get long-term capital gains rate on all those positions. Have fun day-trading!
