I flew SAA from Germany to jo’burg in 2016 and mehn the service was top notch , even better than Lufthansa….I had to write a review for the fight attendants, the cabin was very crisp and the in flight entertainment was great…also if you fly SAA within SA you get one checked in bag for free and they also serve free hot meals on their local flights…that’s the only airline I have seen do that.
I remember when I was a kid and my uncle who worked for Nigerian Airways would come and stay with us in London any time he was in town. I would feel so proud if we Nigerians had are own national Nigerian Airways back.. wouldn't it be great if SASSY was reviewing such an event and gave it the thumbs up. Make all of us that are Nigerians very proud. We'll done to South Africa Airways.

It’s amazing that they were recognized as second best in Africa in 2021 by Skytrax, despite just resuming flight operations in September of 2021 after an 18 months hiatus. If Skytrax is fair, then it really shows how good they are.
Hopefully the newer A330 with it’s modern cabin configure is back on this route. I am happy that you enjoyed your experience aboard my baby…love working on these…pity they are being phased out instead of being refurb

In my view, SAA is best in Africa…Ethiopian Airline is good second but feel it lacks the slickness& professionalism of SAA in service. Kenyan air and Air Moroc are third….based on those I’ve flown. Can’t wait to fly SAA again, hopefully next year. I’d like to try Air Rwanda and Egypt air By the way, I love salads…best way to get my whole plant foods in
Yes, I have flown South African Airways before. I flew from Washington to Accra in 2019. I flew SAA again in 2020 from Washington to Accra. I never made the return back to Washington on SAA in 2020 because the pandemic happened, Ghana close its borders and SAA cancelled my return flight. I ended up spending 10-straight months in Ghana (as opposed to my three scheduled months). I eventually took Delta back to America ($1,200 one-way). SAA finally refunded my money over 1 1/2 years later. I hope they will one day return to offering service from D. C. to Accra.
It's always amazing to gly with you girl. My SAA experience was epic, doing the same route. I just don't like meals in the plane. I love snacks and drinks. And the salad! I have flown the airline quite a few times. I can't quite tell the difference between SAA, KQ and Ethiopian Airlines. They feel pretty much the same for long distance flights. Other short distance flights in Africa are essentially almost always a nightmare.

Please does anyone know if theyve commenced pysical visa applications again. The vfs office was closed in lagos before and ive been told we have to go to abuja. Please save a soul any info would help. my brother lived in SA and had covid last year ...sadly he passed, we would want to go and see his wife &kids

I don`t know why and can`t really explain this. I`ve been flying for over 20 years but the only African airline I have used is Kenya Airways, and it was even only because they work with KLM. I do try to get direct flights, so in avoiding long layovers and all that, when flying to Kenya, I do use Swiss. The reason I never really use KQ is if you compare prices, you find that KQ price is much higher by a few hundred $$ compared to other airlines Having said that, I have used AirEgypt and Air Maroc but you know.................

I flew South African Airways to Perth, Australia in 2017 via Jo'burg of course. The flight from Abuja to Jo'burg was terrible but Jo'burg to Perth was superb. I wonder why though?
They don’t operate the A350 anymore. They returned the A350’s back to their lessors in 2020 because of the financial constraints that made them halt operations.

I flew South African Airways twice in 2017 and 2018, we departed around 10pm and arrived Johannesburg by 5:05am. I love the airline !!!
I flew SAA for the first time on 1 June 2022, to date it was the smoothest flight I flew. Great experience
