Adding to the alternate universe theory: When Miis go traveling, they go to real life places on Earth. but after the trip is done. they come back to an island that doesn't exist in this universe. Does this make them some type of extraterrestrial thing that can travel between universes? Ik this is stupid, but still yes.

My theory:The miis are survivors of a nuclear war,and the island is a hospital of some sort. This theory explains why your miis can be adjusted to look like anything and anyone,why they can't take care of themselves and why you answer all their problems and get *paid* for it,(Implying that you are a caretaker that works here.),why your miis can't visit other places for long\move to other places,you literally get imports from "other islands",why miis don't look pregnant when you say they can have a baby and the kid ages really fast and "when they go to travel the world" they are probably getting transferred to another island.
I feel like I got proof for the tiny miis conspiracy so like you know when you scan that card with the ar thingy? When you do that they are tiny so like Mabey like that.
The island is one of the last remaining habitable places after the end of the world. The Miis are the sole survivors, when you make a Mii, it's essentially them moving from one island to another. Boom.

I imagine Mii’s are almost human-sized like they’re 4 feet if the hight slider is left in the middle, they become 6 feet when the slider is all the way up, and they can go down to 2 feet if the slider is at the lowest
My theory: The Mii universe is separate from the Nintendo Universe. Tomodachi life's island is in the same universe as the Wii Sports Place and Wuhu island. Tomodachi island is where they live and Wuhu is where they go while they want to play sports.
I believe the Tomodachi Life Island is a town to some extent. If the Mii News broadcasts are considered canon, and not just some form of entertainment satire news for your miis, then your island should have at least some city streets, etc. Combine this with the fact there is a School, Train Station, and Fancy Restaurant that cannot be accessed and only appear on special occasions. Also, Travelers refer to you as the Owner of the island, a similar thing happens when miis have "The Future" dream. ("They say to you: The old apartment building's got a new owner now") So it is likely you are the leader of the island.

This would explain why we can hold them in the air by the head, and mess around with them, and why they won't die from hunger, and why you can pose them or something, and their understanding that their look a likes exist

A really creepy glitch happened to me: When I was adding a mii from mii maker it just turned into the mii when you create one (brown hair tall head ya know) and I kept trying but I always kept getting the default mii so I kept her and she kept obsessing over one of my miis and one day the miis girlfriend disappeared and as soon as I went to the default miis apartment she was cheering in joy and suddenly I realized that the default mum was SOMEHOW DATING THE MII SHE WAS STALKING the next day the default mii disappeared and the mii who was "stolen" appeared into the game again! The mii being stalked wouldnt stop crying even when they weren't even sad!! To this day my mii who was being stalked by the default mii is still crying (this story is no joke)
the island is sort of like an insane asylum or a mental hospital--miis move in when they're deemed unfit for normal society and are assigned to be watched by the player, who owns the place. the miis are unaware of this situation and think they're living a normal life with all their friends, but they're actually being controlled by you. moving out means that a mii has either been approved of to return to a normal civilization or has been so bad they must be executed. the miis all being crazy makes sense because of some of the weird things they do, or the fact that nobody questions strange happenings. either way, it would make sense of some of their behavior and why they treat you like they do--it's your job. i'd also like to note that miis basically don't have jobs and yet still manage to survive (although this is partially because of you, the player.) it's weird, isn't it? perhaps you're providing them with more than they think. this could be linked to the docks--you could easily get shipments of supplies sent in to help you with your job at anytime. setting up stores just helps with the illusion. this is probably more the set up to some sort of crazy story, but...what can i say? i'm a writer, this is just a quick idea.
