The 2020 edition of Trains’ Locomotive magazine lamented the disappearance of the classic end-cab switcher thanks in part to the Staggers Act, which allowed railroads to dump anything that was inefficient. Well here we have a couple of examples of the seemingly inefficient end-cab switchers looking and sounding awesome. Not so fast Mr. Iden-they’ve got more than a few miles left in them! Awesome video!
I appreciate the kind words on the video! These locomotives have a lot of life left in them, and are good pullers from what I've heard. Thank you for watching!
That is on the to shoot list! Its just hard to figure out when its running, and in decent light. Hopefully I'll have that shot in a few months. Thank you for watching!
Quite a coincidence that former MILW trackage is using a former MILW MP15AC. It used to have a Prime 920 like any other MILW engine. Later replaced by a P3 when it went to SOO but it was replaced by a Raised Letter K3LA which it has now.
Glad you enjoyed it; it was well worth the time it took to shoot these guys. With all of the different locations they serve, it can be VERY hit or miss trying to find where they are at.
Yeah, there is a maze of tracks in that area, so finding them can be a challenge! Its a neat operation that I wouldn't mind shooting more of in the future. Thank you for the comment, and watching.
Thank you for watching, and the kind comment. Glad that you enjoyed the video!! I enjoy making these types of videos, and the drone adds so much to it too!
@@SD457500 Your welcome!! I sure did =- ) I've noticed a fair number of your videos have switcher engines/yard loco's in them. Are you not near a main line, or do you like getting industrial switching and shortlines best?
@@norfolksouthernmemphiswest5978 I'm near a lot of mainline action, but the industrial areas and shorelines seem to have a lot of neat operations. :) I shoot the mainline a lot, but I rarely post it....yet!
Thank you for the comment! This is that line, they just didn't happen to run to Rosemount when I took these clips. I'll make a point to shoot that part eventually; there are MANY neat photo ops in that area.
Reason behind that is two fold; I'm not sure what's in it, and I don't want to include wrong information in the video. Its amazing what can be in freight cars, but we seldomly know. Thanks for watching!
I worked that job off the extra board outta Austin . The Northfield and Rosemount jobs were both ours for decades . Until the C.P broke us up and scabed out the work . I also made a heckuva lot more money then these guy's are making. Union job's are best. Milwaukee road was too .
I love watching shortline switching videos/keep them coming please.
Glad that you enjoyed the video! I'll make sure to produce more videos like this in the future. Thank you for watching!
The wreaths are a nice little touch
It was nice to see, and very festive! The crew was also very chill, and kind. Thank you for the comment, and watching!
My my, that #302 GATX switcher sure is a sharp looking unit. Just a lovely, blissful ten minute escape!
Glad that you enjoyed it! The 302 is a former Milw unit, so its on home rails. Thank you for watching!

You should film progressive rail on the cannon falls line.

Great video of the backbone of railways Locals
Some nice roots-blown EMD sounds there.
Those switchers sound great! They load fast, and have such a nice sound to them. Thank you for the comment, and watching.
Nice one. Like the recruiting technique, lol.
That makes two of us; its crafty and eye catching. Thanks for the comment, and watching!
Thank you for filming PGR! Awesome catch by the way,
Glad you enjoyed it! This has long been on list of thing to shoot.
I love the small advertisments on a locomotives, good way to advertise
QR Code's, Goes out to railfans and on lookers!
@ 6:40... i like that hey "highway man" sign... haha definitely a shot at the truckers
You nailed it! Progressive Rail is big on marketing, and they do a good job at it. Thank you for the comment, and watching.

Now that is a cool fact I never knew about the MP15ACs. Prime 920s are good horns too... Thank you for the comment, and watching!
Nice work, bud.
Very cool video documentation of the switching with this RR.

@@SD457500 Your welcome and glad to hear you were successful on this footage.
Looked that area up on a map. Lots of businesses on or just off Lone Oak Road in Eagan. Thx.

Great video Douglas! I enjoy the arching these short line operations. The Christmas wreath on the engine is pretty neat!!
That’s I enjoy watching…
Thank you very much! These guys have a classy operation, and the Christmas wreaths were a neat touch. Very friendly crew to top it all off.
Excellent video! This is cool to see some swtiching operations like that. ;)

7:10 I love the sign
They are wonderful at marketing! Very eye catching too.
Nice video!
Thank you for watching, and glad that you enjoyed it!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! These switching operations are fun to watch, and they work in some neat locations.
Never Heard Of CIT Is It New
Not, CITX has been around for a LONG time, and they have a lot of lease units. Thank you for watching!
Awesome video!! =- )

could you drone or take video of the eagandale line to rosemount? never have seen a train on robert st

Any reason you couldn’t tell the industries they were serving??
I meant what was in the Cars. Only one industry had paper.
Thank you for sharing. Great drone coverage?

got to love the union mentality. To be blunt, the work would not be there if it had not been "scabed" out.
Hello highway man thanks for stopping. Oh by the way, I am 4X more efficient than you.
