  • This video provides a conceptual and practical overview of polynomial regression using SPSS. I begin with a demonstration using simple linear regression where the assumed functional form between the independent and dependent variable is linear. Next, I demonstrate an approach to graphing data to better visualize non-linearity in your data. I then demonstrate how to use hierarchical regression in order to select the best fitting (and hopefully most parsimonious) model. Finally, I demonstrate an alternate approach using the Curve Estimation function in SPSS.

    Hi Mike,
    I really love your channal.
Could you creat your vdo for teaching how to plot HR (95%CI) and continous independent factor, please?

Hi Mike. I want to ask, is it also applicable for multiple independent variables? Because from what I see with the curve estimation method, we can only input 1 independent variable. Should I transform all my variables first into quadratic model, then perform the multiple linear regression? Hope you answer this, thank you.

Can you use this polynomial regression analysis for categorical variables?

Hi there. This method assumes your predictor is continuous. Best wishes!
