Oh man, tell me about it. I remember trucking over that bridge, and I was stuck behind a slow-a**. I was irate: I'm trying to cross this rickety mfer as fast as possible!
And this is why Jacksonville is the best city in Florida. It still has great American Architecture left in it. Hopefully they don't plow this one over with a ship.
Apparently, the maroon color is because of Jacksonville's USFL franchise from the mid 1980s. Odd they never considered changing the color to teal for the Jaguars. Love the bridges in Jax!

Totally incorrect... it takes you to Phillips Highway southbound toward St. Augustine. US-1 going toward state line is New Kings Road.
Who else remembers when this bridge had a steel deck on the main span?
