- Chris has unearthed a Gold Ribbon Torc, whilst metal detecting. It was totally
unexpected and nearly went under the radar. We have reported it to the FLO
who thinks it's Bronze/Iron Age. The thin ribbon of gold has been loosely twisted, tapering to narrow, hooked, terminals at each end, and would possibly be worn around the neck. It has been mentioned that it could be part of a hoard. So keep watching and see what unfolds.#metaldetecting #history

Similar story when I found a Bronze Age gold lock ring in Cumbria. Had never seen one before and nearly fell off my chair whilst looking on internet when I identified it. Warning story, handed it in to FLO, later stolen from museum. Do not wait too long before chasing them. It was nearly three years before theft admitted. Andy

I tried to keep it with us for safe keeping, but at the end of the day, it had to be handed over, and us having it would hold the system up. The FLO tells me things are speeding up a bit. It's Chris's best find to date. It only laid in his pouch for 2-3 days. He never goes through his finds pouch until the morning of the next time we go out. Now, ME, I empty mine after each session, just in case, lol. Thanks for watching.
