    Yassou Jason. I also have an SLO-30 and it's just awesome! Nothing like the real deal my man!

    As far as the modeler or the real amps, I’m 53 I’m ready to get rid of a bunch of stuff. Scale down to the fractal the monitors and maybe my Fryette ps2, ……I wished we’d a had all this stuff back in the 89’s can you imagine. I mean even the learning curb to play seems non existent anymore. I had to practice my ass off I. Ever had you tube or anything, you know, liked you groove w the soldano sounded good.

    I prefer the Slo too. But I am considering selling my tube amp and pedals and buying a FM3 with a FRFR cab instead. The reason os that is seems much easier for gigging and instead of one tube amp it gives me much more choices. Yes I prefer the tube amp, but still, the FM3 sounds very good to me.

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  10 месяцев назад +3

      The FM3 is amazing and is worth the money alone for the fx, absolutely. It’s funny though, I always end up selling the fractal stuff I get because at some point down the line I realize that no matter what amp model I use…I always end up dialing in the same sound! They really are such handy tools to use in the studio and live though

    Great comparison vid!! They sounded very similar but I did notice the Fractal had this crispness to the tone. As u said tube amps push air. Also more visceral , organic and the feel is just more real.

    Yet another vid with no bun… you’re my boy, Blue! Maybe we can be friends now.
    Good job with the comparison, and the new room is looking good.
    If you’re open to suggestions on video ideas, I think more SS100V2 vids would be a great idea. Maybe one video about a certain type of sound and playing small parts (so no copyright strikes) of familiar tunes , similar to the first Holy Cannoli video, but more focused on one sound and giving more examples. You could do as many videos as there are sounds for it. Just an idea.
    It’s fun to watch the show evolve. Rock out with your……. out! But not literally.

    They sound really close. The Fractal sounds a bit brighter. But RUclips has destroyed the audio quality. Sounds like the audio is being played back off an old cassette tape! Not a criticism of the video, this is a RUclips problem, that sometimes seems to affect some vids more than others. I've recently started using SLO 100 liquid profiles in my Kemper, and i have to say, they sound amazing.

    I always will take a real amp vs my modelers but I will take a modeler on stage every single time because of the simplicity of the setup and the consistency of the sound every single show regardless of the room. When my band went to the Louder than Life festival this year we were constantly scoping out the side stage area and after the festival, caught some footage of the back stage tech stuff and the vast majority of bands were using rack kempers and rack Axe FX 3 units.
    I think Wes Borland and the guys from Corey Taylor's group were the very few that we could see their amps. Now.. they could have still been using modelers and sending them to the amps/cabs for power but who knows.
    I've really been digging using my FM3 into a duncan powerstage 200 into a cab. It moves the air like a real amp but still lets me run the DI signal into the house and into my IEM's.
    Also, if you haven't tried the new Dyna-Cab cab block stuff in the new 7.0 firmware, give it a try. I honestly think it sounds better than anything I can get with pretty much any of my ML Sound lab or Ownhammer IR's 😯 It also uses a fraction of the processing power the IR block uses.

      Dude I hear you. It’s just so hard to beat the convenience of modelers. And if I was touring I would totally be using one too….BUT in my heart of hearts I still want to be blown back by an amp like in the opening of back to the future 😂

    the amp modelers today are awesome...yes the feel of a tube amp.. i agree..but the sound is practically the same!!!..there is no better here..my humbly answer

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  7 месяцев назад

      I agree, modelers are sweet! My only gripe is the volume (output) control. If developers can learn to get the volume control to behave like it does on a tube amp, I’d be 100% in on them.

    I have real amps and a fractal and i really enjoy playing through my amps. However when it comes to use where volume needs to be limited and the fact of all the amps,effects,speakers you get with a modeler, the pricepoint for the win especially if you don't have the money or room for both. great vid my man

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  10 месяцев назад

      Oh totally. Modelers are awesome tools in their own right and have a lot to offer. I mean, the fractal stuff is worth the money for the effects alone. Im just old school 😁

    for me the fractal was actually better, I could hear it better in the mix and it was crispier... from a mix point of view this is desirable... playing the sound "alone" without a full band sounding behind, I see how the real amp is attractive

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  8 месяцев назад

      Right on. I should have done another section with a boost in front too. That comparison would be good. I like a more full sound with no boost; but when there’s a pedal in front I like the crispy

  • @MatthiasBuesing

    Great comparison! Amp modeling has come a long way and Fractal - to me - still is king there. The difference are neglectable, especially live. Honestly I even preferred the tone of the Fractal. Personally I'm more than happy that I don't have to carry around my giant 4x12 Randall XL cab with the heavy full tube amp and just plug in my FM3 🙂
    Mind sharing your Fractal preset, dude? Thanks! 🙏🏻

    If you would just turn the volume up on the fm3 a little bit louder to match the volume on the soldano we could really do a comparison. Highs and lows can be adjusted. Is it true that the fractal audio feels awesome coming off the fingers??? Neal seconds says this in his rig rundown, Def Leppard too. I was thinking of getting a fm3 for the finger feel and recording. Thanks kevin
